Greta talks with Justin from Friends of the Lost Coast about the upcoming "Inspiring Adventure" Wild & Scenic Film festival screening at the Arcata Theater Lounge this Sunday.
Did we have to capitalize "SCREAM-A-TORIUM?" No, probably not. Are we trying to convey our excitement about this year's upgraded version of fright night? Yes! We chat with Griffin Loch about the massive upgrades you can expect at this year's Scream-A-Torium, including three haunted mazes, roaming ghoulies, music, food trucks, a beer garden, and for the VIPs, a haunted Tiki Bar! Listen in on Friday the 13th for some seriously frightening ticket giveaways!
Midge had the delightful opportunity to chat with Eureka's first Poet Laureate, David Holper, about his love of poetry (spoiler alert: he's a romantic) and his new collection of poems.
Greta checks in with local favorite Orgone about their upcoming shows!
Greta spoke with Darlene Spoor, the Executive Director of the Arcata House Partnership about all the meaningful services they provide Humboldt County. KHUM chose the Arcata House Partnership as our 2023 recipient of the Stop The Violence campaign funds because a lack of resources afforded to people experiencing homelessness and crisis is an act of violence, especially during this wet, cold winter and spring. KHUM proudly presents them with a check for $1280 and is using this opportunity to get the word out about the good work they do in the community. Find out how you can connect with services if you need them or opportunities to give back if you have the time or funds at arcatahouse.org
Tre Burt stopped by the KHUM studio today ahead of his show at the Old Steeple in Ferndale. Learn how he became a musician and who he plans to party with after his show. Hint: there are more these than residents in Ferndale, so he chose wisely.
Midge and Paul Reiser had a little chat about comedy, music, residuals and the Humboldt fog. Don't miss your chance to see him live tonight at the Van Duzer and see if he can top "That's not my locker!"
If you like slide guitar and good old fashioned American rock and roll (from a British dude) you're going to love this interview Greta did with Jack Broadbent before his big Humboldt debut at Humbrews on 7-29-22
Ever wonder what color underwear Marlon Wayan prefers in his "manties?" Curious what kind of cereal he would prefer you chuck at him during a munchie-fueled performance? Find out this (and not much more) during this raucous interview on May 12, 2022. See him LIVE at Blue Lake Casino's Sapphire Palace on May 19th at 6 and 9 pm.
Chris Parreira, Rosalind Parducci and Amber Grimes came into the KHUM studio during Local Lunch. Hear them play some brand new tracks and perform a few songs off their new album 'Whispers.' The new album officially comes out this weekend. They'll be performing at the Works on Friday, Westhaven Center for the Arts on Saturday and the Siren's Song Tavern on Sunday. You can pre-order the new album at nopardon.com
Local and internationally touring musician, Jenny Scheinman does so many rad things out there in the world. It's quite rare that she gets the opportunity to share what she's been up to with folks here at home, but that's about to change! Jenny talks to KHUM about her show "Kannapolis: A Moving Portrait" that'll be coming to the Arkley on Friday April 5th.
Local Ween cover band, The Stallions stopped by the KHUM studio to play a few and talk about their benefit concert tomorrow. They'll be playing at the Siren's Song Tavern and raising money for Humboldt Animal Rescue Team (HART).
This Humboldt band has been taking the world by storm recently! Diggin' Dirt is returning to Arcata after 5 months. They popped into the studio before the show to have a bit of fun.
KHUM was joined in-studio by The Pine Hearts from Olympia, Washington. They played a few songs from their brand new album, "Carousel," and talked about adventures to Antarctica and beyond.
Want to have fun and support a family who really needs it? For the last several years Lawnstock has brought together the community with music and lots of fun in order to benefit a local child and their family. This year they've chosen Marcelo Baker - a charming 7 year-old boy from Rio Dell who was in a car crash in 2014 where he sustained a major skull fracture. Earlier today Jamie Carroll, Zach Zwerdling and Jimmy Foot (aka part of Ghost Train) came in to play some tunes and encourage you to come out this weekend. This Saturday at Perigot Park come and see Ghost Train live with The Irie Rockers, Claire Bent & Citizen Funk, That Buckin' String Band, Belles of the Levee, Secret Club, The Paula Jones Band and Timbata!
