The Prophet of Panamindorah show

The Prophet of Panamindorah

Summary: Corry showed up at the orphanage two years ago, unable to remember how he had gotten there. He spoke a language no one recognized, and he was afraid of cars and planes and computers. Corry can remember snippets of another life, but no matter how hard he tries to remember, it just keeps slipping away. Then one day, he meets a fauness in an orange grove. She is from a world called Panamindorah, and he can understand her language. In addition, Corry can read a language that no one in Panamindorah has been able to read for three hundred years; has he really been gone that long? Now he must recover his lost memories and rebuild his life, because the person who tried to kill him once is about to try again. The Prophet of Panamindorah is a free podcast novel for listeners 13 and older. This is the single feed for all three of the Prophet of Panamindorah books. If you want to listen to all of them in one place, as well as occasional comments from the author, subscribe here.

 D*Con and Feeding Malachi | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:17:37

Eve is an inquisitive baby rat who regularly escapes from her cage. One night she meets a strange creature in a glass tank across the room—a boa constrictor named Malachi. The snake is amused by Eve’s questions, and he awes her with stories of the wilds where he was caught. What will happen to their fragile friendship when Eve discovers what Malachi eats? Can they devise a solution that will save both Malachi and Eve’s family of rats? Feeding Malachi is a 6,000-word story, divided into 10 short chapters. The story is illustrated with beautiful ink drawings by the Sarah Cloutier, who is also the cover artist. The story has a few scary moments, but also a happy ending. If you and your child enjoyed the whimsical dialogue of The Little Prince or the loveable characters in Janell Cannon’s Stellaluna and Verdi, you will enjoy the adventures of Eve and Malachi.  Quotes Contest – Winner and Prize(s) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:23:52

Sarah won the quotes contest with 8 correct answers. Congrats! She asked for a drawing of a shelt skeleton, specifically lower body, so here’s my sketch. In addition, a sample of the Cowry Catchers illustrations for Part I are here. Also, although I didn’t mention it in the podcast, Rah Cloutier did some sketches of the main characters for Cowry Catchers when she was trying to get a feel for anatomy. They’re not wearing clothes, but they’re also not very detailed. Here’s my sketch of a pegasus skeleton, and here’s my DA gallery. The Bunjee Venture by Stan McMurty is indeed available on Amazon for pennies. “The Old Gumbie Cat” is by T.S. Eliot, from his book of cat poems, Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. It later became the raw material for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, Cats.

On the Edge – a short story about Sevn | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:31:44

I have returned with the contest prize for Lance! It’s a 3000 word story about Sevn, which I narrated myself. Things I mentioned: Thing number 1: Norm Sherman of The Drabblecast read one of my drabbles during a Geekspeak interview. Wee!! Norm has a huge part in Cowry Catchers, and if you are not listening to the Drabblecast, you should be, for it is ear candy. Thing number 2: The Dunesteef Audio Fiction Magazine is looking for producers to work on the occational show. This a great opportunity to learn how to do full cast audio if you’re interested. More info in the podcast. Contact: Editor (at) Dunesteef (dot) com. The Dunesteef is also ear candy. Thing number 3: I now have Panamindorah Forums!!!!! Use them, so that they do not become an embarrassment and go away!

 Parsec finalist + Q&A + stories on other podcasts! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:36:03

In this unscripted and largely unedited installment, I tell you: –I’m a Parsec finalist, and Norm Sherman and company will be standing in for me at Dragon Con. –My short story “Miranda and the Butterfly” is up at the Dunesteef. –I have a poem “Coral Reef” on Wander Radio. –I read “Toast” for the The Drabblecast. I also answer some listener questions about feline society, my writing habits, and full cast audio vs. solo reads. In one place, I said “Canisaria,” when I meant “Filinia.” I also sometimes say “read,” when I mean “listen.”

 Drawing #2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:41:16

Hughes and I did the drawing on the 13th, but I haven’t had time to edit it until today. I will be writing a short story about Sevn for Lance. Hughes and I also give a list and discussion of all the podcasts we listen to. The discussion is not child-safe. Promos I played: FETIDUS (both the faux add and the promo) and The Dunesteef. Click for the not-entirely-kid-safe list of podcasts I listen to. If you want to subscribe to any of them them, and you use iTunes, I’d recommend just searching them there. This doesn’t include all of Hughes’s list, which he’ll have to give me if he wants me to post.  PDF of the Gabalon story | File Type: application/pdf | Duration: 0:00:01

I realize that I have some readers who don’t like to listen, so here is the PDF of the 1000 word Gabalon short story.

The Contest Prize! A short story about Gabalon | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:13:29

I finished the contest prize for Alex! Granted, it did take me a month instead of two weeks, but still not too long, and I produced it with a guest reader, music, and sound effects. Contributors include: Guest reader: Ryan Stevenson of the Dead Robots’ Society Podcast Music for the story: Kevin MacLeod, specifically the titles “Interloper” and “One of Them.” Music for the intro and outro: Allan Alexander and Jessica Walsh The image I’m using is one of the many beautiful illustrations created by Sarah Cloutier for Cowry Catchers, which is on track to launch in December. This was so much fun that I’ve decided to have another contest! People who entered the last contest will be entered into this one by default. If you didn’t enter last time, and you’d like a chance to choose a character from Prophet for a short story, write a review in some public place. Email me at hilton at fauness dot com and tell me it’s a contest entry. I’ll hold the drawing (and chat with Hughes about book stuff) on July 12.
