(Right Click Download Link) (http://amsoulrecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Alex-Metric_House-Music_EDM_Techno-Music.jpg)   I know I know... April 23rd is a little late to be posting something with Christmas in the title, but it's Alex Metric (http://www.beatport.com/artist/alex-metric/26632) and I'm still bumpin this mix like he released it last week. This is one of those sets where I find myself looking for song ID's, and have a new "favorite" every time I play it. That's how it goes with Alex though, his sets are always full of high quality music. So here is another hour of high quality EDM from Alex Metric.  S-File – Club Classics (1983-1998) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

(Right Click Download Link) (http://amsoulrecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/S-File_Classic-House-DJ-Set_Chicago-House.jpg) Last year S-File (http://www.beatport.com/artist/s-file/121817) played a set of wall shaking club classics from 1982-1998 (http://amsoulrecords.com/2011/05/s-file-mixtape-club-classics/#ja). I loved it, it was one of my favorites from the year, and he just released a follow up to it over the weekend! Both sets are perfect for new EDM fans looking to hear what we were playing in the 90's. Some of the songs in this set are new to me too, I was more of a Breakbeat cat in the 90's and lived in Orlando, S-File plays House and Techno, and lives in Germany. It's cool to hear other people's ideas of classic records, we all have a list, and none of them are identical. So here it is, classic Chicago House from S-File!   S-File Bio: S-file began in 1994 as a DJ with his own radio show and also started his DJ career. After 10 years on air, he ended his radio career and turned more to his career as a DJ and organizer. S-File has successfully organized to 2005 different house, garage and drum n bass events. In parallel, he was played in many cities and countries as a DJ. He traveled to cities such as London (UK), Warsaw (Poland) Zurich (CH) and Milan (Italy). In 2005 he decided to work as a DJ, Radio DJ and Booker quit. It was time to worry more about themselves, and for a time quite different than making music, and may start at a later date a new beginning. In 2004 he took a pleasure in music, and began again to be active as a DJ and organizer. In March 2010, S-File started his own label, Guys N Dolls Records (http://soundcloud.com/gnd-records). The label is managed very quickly to establish itself. He was able to bind artists to Decalicious, Wazabi and Fat and Ugly to the label. The recognition by many international DJ's such as Wolfgang Gartner, Kissy Sell Out, Alex Gopher, Congo Rock, Crookers, Jesse Rose, Style of Eye, Zombie Nation, or Etienne de Crecy. As a producer could make S-File in 2010 to talk with 3 singles on his own. All three singles (Heads Up, Midnight Traffic and Out of Control / / Box Star) found their way into the sets of the top DJ's. His single, "Out of Control / / Star Box" went straight the way to the DCC (German Club Charts) and held a few weeks. His remix for Decalicious single "Bounce", is already before the appearance of many DJ's pushed. Currently S-file is working on new remixes and touring the clubs in Europe.   Track List: 01.  Ecstasy Club – Jesus loves Acid (Swordfish) (1988) 02.  Joey Beltram – Energy Flash (R&S) (1990) 03.  Old Skool – Cauz I’m learn (UMM) (1994) 04.  Cheek – Venus (Pepe Bradock Mix) (Versatile) (1998) 05.  Dred Stock – Pump (Dress it) (TNT) (1995) 06.  R.I.P.  EDM at The Grammys | File Type: video/x-flv | Duration: Unknown

Well, the big EDM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_dance_music) tribute at the Grammy's went down on Sunday night. It played out as I imagined it would with the lineup they announced; kind of messy, too poppy, a little confusing. It started off bad, but luckily we had the Foo Fighters, and a man wearing an LED mouse head to bring an end to the silliness that opened the performance. I get the pairings, plenty of other acts are forced to perform together. Why bring out Foster The People and have them do karaoke to the Beach Boys? And when would we ever see Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt perform together besides Grammy night? Surely, fans of these artists would rather see them do a couple of their own songs, but it's only a 3 hour show and you can't give everyone their own timeslot. So yeah, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and the Foo Fighters really had no place in an EDM tribute, but it fit with the rest of the nights performances. Some, including me, would rather not have seen Guetta there either because he makes POP music. EDM POP granted, but POP nonetheless. It's made quickly, with little to no feeling, with the intention of selling copies. Just crank em out and move on to the next one. The songs come and go, and you don't even remember the names. Of course, for every one of me who loves the underground, there is a newcomer to the scene who digs Guetta, the commercial stuff, the Jesus poses, and the cornball gimmicks. These newcomers eventually dig deeper and find their favorite genres and artists. I found EDM in the 90's because I saw The Prodigy on MTV (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmin5WkOuPw), I heard Children (http://amsoulrecords.com/2011/06/robert-miles-children/) from Robert Miles in grocery stores, I loved the marketing of Keoki (http://amsoulrecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Keoki_Journeys-By-DJ_Moonshine_EDM.jpg) and his larger than life persona. We all had our own Guetta (https://twitter.com/#!/davidguetta), Skrillex (https://twitter.com/#!/skrillex), Deadmau5 (https://twitter.com/#!/deadmau5) orKeoki (http://amsoulrecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Keoki_Journeys-By-DJ_Moonshine_EDM.jpg) that brought us into the scene, so I guess shouldn't complain that Guetta makes EDM Pop, right? Someone has to. Guetta's part in the Grammy's went off exactly as I thought it would, cheesy and completely cringeworthy. As I was watching the embarrassment unfold, I was thinking, "ehh the blogs will get it right." So here I am blogging about it. It was so bad that I got a text from my aunt asking me if that's the stuff I like. Aunt Deb: "Was that electronic number with Chris Brown like what you do?" Me: "It was a mess. I only claim the guy in the mouse head." Aunt Deb: "Oh Good! I hated it, and wtf was that exorcism thing? The Grammys sure have changed, G'night hun." (http://amsoulrecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Deadmau5-Grammys_EDM_Techno-Music.jpg) This is my hippie aunt from the 60's, I love her. I've played her some of my records before, I was proud that she knew the difference between the poppy crap and Deadmau5....and that is why this performance was so important!! It was surreal to see mouse ears at the Grammys. I still love a good gimmick, and Joel has the best one. EDM has been in the Grammys before, see Dirty Vegas (http://www.dirtyvegas.com/), The Chemical Brothers (http://www.thechemicalbrothers.com/#p=home), Daft Punk (http://www.daftpunk.com/), and local hero Bill Hamel (https://www.facebook.com/Bill.Hamel.Music) to name a few, but this was the first time EDM shared the spotlight on such a high level. It opened up the doors for longer live performances, the opportunity to present awards, new categories, it goes on. Anyone want to see Best Vinyl DJ Mix? What about Best New EDM Artist? The possibilities are endless. Skrillex won 3 Grammys before the show aired, imagine EDM artists getting their awards LIVE on the televised broadcast!

Peo De Pitte – Who Do You Love? | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: Unknown

I'm really digging this one from Peo De Pitte (http://www.beatport.com/artist/peo-de-pitte/39969). Who Do You Love? samples The Running Man, one of the best 80's movies ever made in the 80's. It has a tripped out video with clips of old tv shows, and even has an exploding talking head, who can argue against that?? Check out your favorite digital download store (http://www.beatport.com/release/who-do-you-love/836944) and pick up a copy today!
