The title is a bit misleading. In side news, both CEOs at Google and Microsoft sat down to discuss *stuff.* We say stuff because we couldn’t see how this affected their company, other than from a philosophical standpoint. Larry and Sergey talked about their seemingly political beliefs, while Satya Nadella of Microsoft discussed his novella… Continue reading inThirty 149 – Is Google Too Big
We brought back the guys from Pocketcasts (the best podcast app out there) to discuss the differences between WWDC and Google I/O. After that, we talked about running developer betas and the problems that are associated with it. We always like having the Pocketcasts guys on. Show Notes: RustyShelf | IO Thoughts Shifty Jelly |… Continue reading inThirty 148 – What Say You Rusty
We are obviously talking about I/O. Watch out for a thrown together show as Chaim is in California recording in the hotel room with a baby on his lap.
Today the rumors are finally true. Amazon finally released a smart phone. None of us thought that this was any big deal, yet we spoke about it for 20 minutes. At the top of the show we have a discussion on whether the iMac drop in price is something to talk about. Turns out it… Continue reading inThirty 146 – Amazon Fire
We wanted to stray away from the virtual life and talk about the physical life. We thought it would be good to talk about physical security. We thought it would be a single episode, but we couldn't even get through the idea of what physical security is. This will end up being a multi part episode. If we had to guess an angle, we would say, we spoke about how to blend in, and think with some common sense.
Just like pre WWDC, we talk about what is going to happen at Google I/O. Also like our pre WWDC, we couldn't contain the show to just half hour. Instead of taking notes, we just winged it. You got thirty minutes of us trying to figure out what I/O is going to be this year.

First Up Updates: Nothing... Big Fat nothing on truecrypt We then tackle Google's business model of making money through advertisements. They created Gmail to harvest data, but it is impressive that they created a chrome extension (End to End) to encrypt messages between people. Tom explains why this is good, how it works, and will Google get brownie points for this. Show Notes: Making End To End Encryption Easier to Use | Google Security Blog End-To-End | Hacker News
Obviously we talk about what happened at WWDC. We bring in Drew Pitchford again to help us analyze the developer side of WWDC.

On today's episode we talk about what is going on with TrueCrypt. The website takes us to a sourceforge page and directions to move to BitLocker. That is all we know. Well Tom, read a lot more than I do, so we let him explain. In what was a train-wreck of a show, Drew Pritchford joins us in discussing what we think we will see next week at Apple's WWDC. We discuss, the normal rumors, such as why Apple bought Beats. Then we switch gears and talk about some real out there rumors like the smart home, and iwatch. We try to figure out if actual products will be announced or is this a software year.

First off, why I said this was episode 42 is beyond me. Today we are joined by John Salter of Yubico and Board Member of the FIDO Alliance to tell us what is going on with passwords, two factor authentication, and the future of authentication. Turns out passwords will be replaced with PIN codes, and 2FA will be replaced by U2F (universal two factor). John does a live demo (that you should watch on youtube) that shows us how this works. Finally we talk about the need for the FIDO Alliance, and why this is a huge step forward for the web. Show Notes: Yubico Fido Alliance
Today we have Kelly Guimont joining us from #hirekelly to talk about the Microsoft announcement. Our main goal was to talk about what the Surface Pro 3 is and what it isn't. We decide to include how Microsoft is doing since Satya Nadella took power a few short months ago
