Webcast on Feb. 22nd, 2015--Songs, pieces and remixes about loneliness, specifically the loneliness of earth: a sole planetary spaceship upon which we all reside, adrift in a vast cosmic ocean. Also: the prospect of aliens. Are we alone? Might be the first of our 'Elements Series', we'll see. Includes remixes of 'The Derek Tape' phone conversation and some material from Pop Defect Radio. Includes Who Made Who, Contemporary Casuals, DJ Frane, DJ Jurgen, Hellpope Huey, Kumquat, Negativland, Mastermix, Mr Simon, Midnight Voicejail, Over the Edge, Pilchard, Symphony of Science, The Former Yugoslavia, The Caretaker, Casey Kasem and a Gary Owens tribute. Plus Much More. A 3-hour collage/mix/show. NSFW Language?
This program is about anger and was webcast on January 25th, 2015 on Plundercast and DFM. It is a hybrid show of the past un-released programs 'Escape from Anger' and 'Angry Music' along with some surprises from the current and recent era. This show seeks to be a cathartic release designed to soothe the savage beast-ness out in the listening ether. We are using the same graphic picture from the now defunct 'Angry Music' mix (sometimes these programs take years to truly develop into themselves). This mix spends time on remixed sequences philosophically examining anger along with inter-cut medley flourishes of mash-ups and other 90's era 'complaint rock' sets, interspersed with other tangential material - a 3 hour program.
Been meaning to do this program for a while now: songs and musical pieces about the rain. This was well-received and webcast on Dec. 14th, 2014, on NCN and DFM out of Amsterdam, in the midst of a big thunderstorm in California (which was in the midst of a drought). Wistful and moving works, elegantly blended, mostly punctuated by the soothing susurration of rainfall. - 3 hour mix. Includes Episode 13 of Midnight Voicejail: 'Weather'.
Webcast on Plundercast and DFM on January 15th, 2010: this is our exhaustive, and uniquely-blended, (almost 4 hour) Floyd-a-thon presented in a mix of Pink Floyd mash-ups, rarities, versions, variations, mixes, remixes, NCN pieces, live performances, mods, and covers. This mix runs the gamut of their career from the Syd Barrett era to their respective solo careers. Includes material from 'Deconstructing the Wall', a group collaboration by members of the Negativland fan mailing list 'Snuggles'. This program is part of a quadrilogy of PInk Floyd Tributes by NCN: including 'Best Bricks', 'Dark Side Variations' and 'The No Floyd Pink Floyd Show'. See the links associated with the listing for this program in the archives section of the NCN home site for more information.Full Playlist in ID3 Tags of the 128kbps mp3. Note-The 2-Part Mixcloud version of this program has back annoucements and playlists, the podcast version does not. Check comment field of the ID3 tags in the podcast mp3.
Possibly NSFW cultural overview: This was from October 12th, 2014--a mix all about 'Da Butt' aka your rear end. A universal subject. Many mash-ups, but not restricted to those. Quite a lot of hip hop and rap songs are represented in this mix, but also country, punk, comedy and yes, rock. The last half hour is the complete radio edit of Midnight Voicejail Episode 25: Perry Stone in which a 1980s Silicon Valley voicemail community member's box is mistaken for the hotline of a local shock shock radio host. See mix contents in ID3 tags of the mp3 - 3 hours.
Webcast on October 5th, 2014--Sometimes melancholic and wistful With a lot of thanks to comic relief by the great DJ No Breakfast, which you should check out, this was almost called 'Covers and Such' or 'All That Comes My Way 5' and was based around a great Lorde Cover that happens in its third hour. You'll just have to read the playlist at mixcloud or in the tags to find out what all else is in it. 3 hour show - 128kbps.
A 3-hour program dedicated to Mary and songs about Mary. Dedicated to the loving memory of Gonkwheat (RIP), or Mary, whose 47th Birthday was the week it aired! Many many 'Mary' Songs. Originally webcast November 3rd, 2013 on Plundercast and DFM out of Amsterdam. We miss you, Pippi! You will appreciate this show if you are a Mary or have a Mary in your life. A Grand Old Name! Note--This program has been updated for 2014 to include DJ Schmolli's mashup 'Mary, Proud Mary'. The original 2013 version is on Mixcloud. 128kbps 3 hour program.
From 09.28.2014 - We mix up some Mars material (and whatnot) from the likes of Ivan Stang, Susie the Floozie, Puzzling Evidence and Negativland (from their 'Probing Mars' program from December 1993) Also Onan Canobite with his 'This Planet is Mars' theory and unrelated-to-Mars material such as Gitar, The Bran Flakes, The Evolution Control Committee, Wolfbait, Fernandenande Lemur, Just John, Silica Gel, Steinski and the Mass Media, The Kleptones, Thriftshop XL, Supercut, and UFO Phil! - 3 hour show in 128kbps.
As heard on August 10th, 2014 on DFM and Plundercast: The first two hours of this primarily dark and psychedelic mix is dedicated to sheep, while the final hour is about pigs and swine flu. The final hour is the radio edit version of 'If Pigs Could Fly (The Swine Flu Show)' and does contain some Robin Williams (RIP) in the mix as it turned out, and is a slightly different mod or mix from what has been heard in the past, such as on "Bob"'s Slacktime Funhouse on WREK, Atlanta. Some portions may be NSFW. Much Thanks to Rev. Xister of Subgenius for letting us use his Pink Floyd Animal Farm Remixes originally done for Slanderbob's show on KAOS Radio Austin, amongst the other variations on those songs. - 3 hours in total.
This is mostly material (outtakes and performances) from the March, 1998 pre-X-Day goings on in the Pacific Northwest (Portland and Seattle) 4 months prior to the original X-Day (July 5th, 1998) Subgenius celebration. However, this program doesn't get into the material from that event until about half an hour into the program. We mix it up with various 'PR Gnus' segments from F. Lemur, Richard Cheese parody, various mashups. Performances at the event include Phineas Narco, Ivan Stang (declaring 'War on God!'), Rev. Sterno, Rev. Crawford and The Duke of Uke. Includes a special trip to The Mystery Hole with the Doktors along with other surprises. - 3 hour program in all may be NSFW in some places.
A tribute to the spud boys and their comeback in 2010! This is a new edit of this show with new songs by Devo, also mash-ups covers, parodies, and remixes, more obscure Devo songs than usually heard, as well as classic stuff that was re-mastered in 2008. Includes work by Go Home Productions, ToTom, DJ Smakc!, The Dogs, NCN, OCCUPANT, Dananananaykroyd, Devo 2.0, A Plus D, Philip Steir, and The Illuminoids. Includes some covers of 'Beautiful World', some lesser heard songs by the spud-boys, including TV show themes as well as a versions medley of 'Be Stiff', songs about and inspired by The SixtiesThis is the new 2010 version of this show. This program is NSFW and not safe for terrestrial airplay, probably. Please review before broadcasting as heard on WBCQ and Plundercast and DFM out of Amsterdam. - Over 2 1/2 hours in all.
Webcast on July 27th, 2014 - Just a lot of different bits and pieces we collected from various places including older and new bits as well as some new new mixes by us. There are some leitmotifs in this program including: sports, lumps, black vs. white, dirty dancing, quantum theory, etc. 3 hour Mix - in 128kbps of course.
As webcast on July 20th, 2014: A full REDUX and Remix of our show from 03/24/14 detailing the first Malaysian flight MH370 that was lost, now updated to reflect the very tragic current events of the recent week namely passenger jumbo jet MH17 being shot down over the Ukraine. An act of terror? As before, this program examines the historical subject of lost planes and aviation mysteries in times of war and peace: from Amelia Earhart to the U2 spyplane and related Howland Island 'Over the Edge' material from 1992; also work by Larry Stepniak, Uncle Onan Canobite of the Church of the Subgenius, rx, our Bombscare program, and variations and theories relating to 'LOST' as well as music by The Hadron Big Bangers, surreal comedy from The Subgenius Show from The 1980s, new material from Porcupine Tree, and a number of leftover Negativland - U2 remixes that were NOT in our program 'NegatiVariations and Whatnot'! Also mash-ups by Ed Home, Pimpdaddysupreme and more! A 3-hour show. Superior to it's predecessor.
Another mix in NCN's inimitable style, this time concerning teeth, tooth care and dentists. "How do you take care of your teeth?" The 1 hour radio edit of this program was heard on WREK in Atlanta on "Bob"'s Solacktime Funhouse. Originally webcast on Plundercast and DFM on November 27th, 2011 when we had to get that tooth in question extracted, this mix is remixed a little bit for July 09, 2014. Includes the piece 'The Klein vs. Gilmour Dentistry Suite' sprinkled into the initial comedy montage in the program. The suite compares Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's guitar playing style to a dentist's drill. Much comedy in here (with some possibly NSFW language) as well as all manner of music, novelty songs, mash-ups, collages, various memes and comic commentary as well as some disturbing material all in this almost 2 hour and 37 minute mix.
Just as webcast on June 22nd, 2014 - Remixes of works Negativland, mostly of their recent release to the web of their master recording tracks (or 'stems') of 'U2 - Negativland' their controversial 1991 EP featuring outtakes of Casey Kasem (RIP). Plus excerpts from the newest NCN release, the Subgenius-oriented 'Kill Me', a technology set, and work by Neu!, Eris Tsubasa, ARKiV, dev random, Kamasutra, DJ Tripp, The Boredoms, Neil Cicierega, Cloud Surfer, WRP, Sheer Zed and more! - A 3-hour mix.
