Summary: Bizarre stream-of-consciousness industrial comedy music, voicemail art, stuff from Negativland, and other such fun. From Phineas Narco, Ronald Redball, Alexander T. Newport and others! In .mov format.
Webcast originally on October 18th, 2015 to dozens of listeners--over a couple of weeks after the Umpqua Community College shooting in Oregon. A cultural commentary made up of news, clips of politicians, comedians and pundits addressing the gun issue, songs about guns, the controversy of gun control, and a digital deconstruction overall of the endemic gun problem in America which gets more ingrained with every mass shooting. This was simulcast originally in the DFM Second Life Burning Man virtual environment at the time. It has some re-worked material from Don Joyce's solo show 'Guns' on Over the Edge (Negativland's radio show) from 1994. Running throughout the show also is a dramatization of Shirley Jackson's short story 'The Lottery'. - A 3-hour mix.
This was webcast on September 27th, 2015 on NCN, Plundercast and DFM out of Amsterdam. The entire program was 'Counting Sheep (and Pigs) v2.0 which was a redux of an earlier program. We present here the section that was most-changed: about pigs. With different versions of Pink Floyd's pig-oriented songs (from their album 'Animals') running throughout this section as well as riffs on 'War Pigs' by Black Sabbath and pig songs from Nine Inch Nail version medleys and mashups are in effect. Also covered is an event which took place in late Summer of 2015 concerning 'Pig Gate' a scandal involving alleged bestial past actions of British Prime Minister Dave Cameron as well as the retroactively prescient first episode of the TV series 'Black Mirror'. Also included is material and collages concerning swine flu. - 99 min. mix
From September 13th, 2015: Played to over 17 listeners then on Plundercast and DFM out of Amsterdam--this is a confusing program all about the universal subject of confusion and being confused. We were pleased with how this came out. Variations of The Temptations' 'Ball of Confusion' run throughout, as well as variations on 'Land of Confusion' by Genesis. Some original mixtures in this long playing psychedelic mix. Best with headphones! This program took over 30 hours of work to put together. A sequel, of sorts, to the 'Confessions' show from the week before. - 3-hour (mostly music) mix!
From September 6th, 2015: A comprehensive, if somewhat choppy (at times) and not back-announced mix of many, many, many different examples (cinematic, in song, comedy, and otherwise) from the media at large demonstrating the confession as an expository and narrative device in stories as well as a fixture in real life. Includes the episode of Midnight Voicejail: 'Breaking and Entering' and clips from the unreleased 'Cauldron of Agony' both by NCN. Note-This is disturbing at times and may be 'triggering'. Listener discretion advised. - 3 hours.
Just about exactly as it was broadcast on August 16th, 2015 with minimal trimming--NCN appearing live, and solo, on the 'Day of Don (Joyce Unto the World)' all-day Negativland / Don Joyce tribute show on KFJC: Remembering the great talent and work of Don Joyce who curated 'Over the Edge' on KPFA for over 35 years. We collected some choice rarities and pieces not heard for quite some time from Over the Edge and Negativland and composed them 'conversationally' using Don's own handed down technique. The result is a wild mix of mixes, bouncing from one subject to another, and always surprising, showcasing Don and Negativland's work since 1981. The apex of our memory lane mix was getting to in-depth interview Mark Hosler for well over an hour in the (more than) last hour of the program. - A 4 Hour Program.
From August 2nd, 2015 - A redux of a previous show from years past, all about time, time travel, and time control amongst other things. Includes actual Subgenius content! Also includes the Midnight Voicejail episode 'Coping Mechanism'. Thanks to Richard Lindsay from KBOO in Portland for some of this material. Includes work by Steinski, Jack Hertz, Re-Drum, Mastermix, DJ Schmolli, ToToM, Sweet Brown, DJ Aristocat, Hour of Slack, The Subgenius Show, Over the Edge, Negativland, Hellpope Huey and Zoogz Rift. - 3 hour mix.
This is NCN's adaptation of the show 'Breathing' that we did with Jon Leidecker (Wobbly) of Negativland and Puzzling Evidence (Douglas Wellman) on 07/17/2015 on Negativland's radio show 'Over the Edge' in Berkeley, CA. We were helping to fill in, at that time, for our friend and long-time mentor and Negativland member Don Joyce (1944-2015). This is representative of that show with some post-production/mixing/additional material added to/done on it including a new ending. This is the last Over the Edge show done while Don Joyce was still alive, and in the hospital, at the time, due to breathing issues. Don sadly passed away on July 22nd, 2015 from heart failure. RIP Don Joyce and Long Live Negativland! - 3 hour program.
We are working backwards sequentially in this two-part show, which is in part about breath and breathing, and is also in tribute to our mentor and friend Don Joyce (of Negativland, who is currently ill with breathing issues) on The Puzzling Evidence Show. We will present Part 1 next week which will be the Over the Edge portion of the show. This program is made up of some post-produced 'Show' from earlier this week, on KPFA 94.1 in Berkeley, upon which NCN appeared, along with Puzzling Evidence and Wobbly (of Negativland). We didn't know the program was going to be about breathing until 20 minutes beforehand! So a lot of our prepared material was rendered irrelevant, and not used, but some of that is presented here in tonight's remixed augmented redux of the last two hours of that big 5-hour OTE/Puzzling Evidence program. A 3-hour mix. Stay tuned for Part 1.

Webcast on April 19th, 2015 on Plundercast and DFM, this is a program with a leitmotif of renting, rentals, eviction--Inspired by our recent GTFO 90 Day Notice for our living space of 19+ years due to rising Bay Area Rents. Also much stuff in here about parents, and in the last half hour we have excerpts from the final episode of Midnight Voicejail Uncut Episode 50 titled 'Escape'. Our remix of superheroes, namely the two most prominent ones: Superman and Batman and their various treatments in our culture.
