Singer/Songwriter Jason Lee McKinney joins Twisted South Radio in the first half of the show. By facing his losses and demons on the page, McKinney is able to write relatable music. His passion and energy is a perfect foil for his down-to-earth songsMcKinney opens his heart up to the audience while still writing a song everyone who has ever loved and lost can identify with. We love to showcase interesting characters of the south and Jason Galaz is most certainly one of them. An entrepreneur, he started out making t-shirts for bands and has worked his way up to being the man behind one of the biggest southern cultural festivals in the entire world, The Muddy Roots Music Festival. Join us as we pick Jason's head on how he got to where he is today.

On the second half of our show we welcome Chris Russell from Chris Russell's Chicken Walk. They  play Chrississipian music. It's a lot like The North Mississippi Hill Country Juke Joint Party Ass Blues. Chris hails from The Chelsea Delta, Melbourne, Australia.

Twisted South Radio welcomes Haunted By Heroes AND George Kilby Jr. this week! The world's youngest rock band- EVER !! Playing at high level intensity and volume.. HAUNTED BY HEROES continues to make history !! The band members come from the same day care center and have been plotting their course for most of their years. Nick is the bass player / lead vocalist / songwriter. Twin brother Chris is getting rave reviews as one of the leading young drummers in rock n roll.... Guitarists Charley and Max provide the guitar thunder. George Kilby Jr. has taken his music from the road-houses of the Southeast to the major music festivals of Europe. His sound has been called everything from New Orleans R&B to Alternative Country. Born in Alabama, and residing in New York, Kilby's band is one of the top acts in the Northeast; and has backed the legendary Pinetop Perkins for more than a decade.

Matthew Zeiss is an American singer/songwriter from Long Island, New York, better known simply as Zeiss. Raised in Lindenhurst, New York by a musically-orientated family. Zeiss began creating music at an early age.As a child he was highly influenced by artists such as Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Tom Jones, Billy Joel and Elvis Presley, spending hours studying and imitating their unique sound. Zeiss often tries to incorporate a retro style into his music.In January, 2012 Zeiss released his debut album “Last Train to Rock N Roll”. The album features a song “I Am the Boat” written by the artist's father in 1985.On November 14, 2012 Zeiss recorded a cover of "Midnight Blues", written and originally recorded by the legendary Charlie Rich. Featured on piano is the artist's son, Charlie Rich Jr. 

Greg Schatz plays music that gets stuck in your head. Steeped in tradition, yet completely original, Schaty’s songs give words to life’s hard-to-describe moments. In addition to performing original music with his own band, Schatz has several weekly gigs playing classic New Orleans R&B and blues tunes on piano. He is the upright bass player for the BustOut Burlesque Jazz Band, squeezes accordion with the Valperazo Men’s Choir, and jumps in as a sideman in various other creative projects in New Orleans’ soupy musical mix. You never know which instrument Schatz will have in his hands. He’s quite a busy guy Eddie Bridges lives in Chattanooga TN and is attempting to make a couch with the help of you and all his friends. This is not just any couch, this couch is made from samples of foam that each person gets from Tempur-Pedic. He has started in internet campaign to make his twisted dream happen and we are going to talk to him about this and spread the word even further. It's just crazy enough to work.  

Twisted South Radio welcomes Country AND Western Texas legend James Hand in the first hour in support of his new album, "Mighty Lonesome Man". During the second hour we welcome back to the show Twisted South family member, Brother Dege Legg, whose music is featured on the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's new feature film "Django Unchained" coming out Christmas Day 2012. Texas music legend, James "Slim" Hand's Mighty Lonesome Man contains timeless music that will please the yearning ear of today, while transporting you back to the days of hayrides, drive-in movies and huddling around the radio listening to the Grand Ole Opry. Like the possessed offspring of Faulkner and Son House, he plays slide guitar in the age-old tradition of the blues greats, yet manages to breathe new life into this revered Delta idiom.    

Join Twisted South Radio as welcome writer and executive producer, Tammy Bennett, of this indie film  The film is currently in post production and in the final editing stages of the new feature length horror film, "Rockabilly Zombie Weekend"  When Becky and Grant arrive at their rockabilly-themed wedding, despite warnings of a West Nile Virus outbreak, things go horribly wrong as the mosquito-spread virus spawns zombies, who begin feeding on the wedding guests as well as the other locals. The two newlyweds have to escape along with their family and friends if they ever want to live to see their honeymoon!  

Music Critic, journalist and novelist, David Menconi joins Twisted South Radio this week to talk about his career, life and current book “Ryan Adams: Losering, A Story of Whiskeytown”. David Menconi has been the Raleigh (NC) News & Observer's music critic since 1991. Before that, he spent a few years at the Boulder (CO) Daily Camera; and before that, he earned a masters in journalism from the University of Texas in Austin, where he wrote his thesis on the History of the Armadillo World Headquarters and also wrote a column for the Daily Texan. Hero Jr.: Remember when rock'n'roll seemed to have it all? Passion, power, chemistry… and timeless songs that people could relate to? Hero Jr. does. And their new full-length debut Backup Plan is the perfect document to prove it.

Country Blues artist Rachel Brooke returns to Twisted South Radio. Coming out with a new album Dec. 4th " A Killer's Dream",she has been touring endlessly bring her twang to the masses.“Producing and playing most of the instruments herself, Rachel demonstrates her immense talent and diversity on this album. The Delta Routine are set to release their third full-length album Cigarettes & Caffeine Nightmares this fall. On it the Milwaukee quintet taps directly into the jugular of early rock-n-roll; distilling the raw, impassioned power and updating it for a younger generation. The eleven tracks traverse through a number of genres, such as garage, power-pop, punk, classic rock and even a bit of earthy Americana for good measure, and while this may not make it easy to categorize, it's no matter, as it's sure to get the blood pumping, feet moving, and transform a simple get-together into an instant party. Jane Rose and The Deadend Boys is a Nashville-based rockabilly/hillbilly/rhythm & blues band. Especially popular on the car show/hot rod circuit, Jane Rose and The Deadend Boys have played shows including the Redneck Rumble, Beatersville, the Voodoo HooDoo, Rat Fest, and many more. Matthew Ryan's "In the Dusk of Everything" marks a distilled reclamation of his more primal Americana/Folk roots.  With the bluntness of punk and the evocative rhythm of poetry his lyricism shines amongst these twelve deceptively simple songs of perseverance and closure via a clarity that operates in layers amid a world of struggle, beauty and sublime epiphany. It’s an odd thing to say about a band, but their approach to music makes so much sense that it’s difficult to understand why their particular cocktail of heavy Southern rock jangle hasn’t already been done to death by someone else. A little Two Gallants, a little Black Sabbath, they’re as heavy as they are twangy. They manage their heaviness without venturing into melodrama, which is difficult for many artists that venture into darker  territory. Their music begs to serve as a soundtrack to a genre of film that doesn’t currently exist—some kind of violent, stylized-but-gritty (a la Tarantino) Southern road movie patterned after the classic Western model."     

Adrianna Freeman was born in Tallahassee, FL.: the oldest daughter of Ed Freeman, a former sharecropper and his wife Theresa.
