Join us as we discuss how this came to be. “Provocateur/songwriter” and Florida expatriate Michael Koppy has captured the amazing milieu of the South as it was in the ’60s and ’70s while growing up in Tallahassee, Florida, and unleashs those memories on his new CD, Ashmore’s Store.
To experience the "Essential, Eccentric South" real & raw go to http://www.twistedsouth.com As both an artist and a person, Tommy Womack has been called everything from “Tom Lehrer with a Telecaster” to “Nashville’s best loved musical eccentric,” and he might blushingly, but proudly, accept both titles. That’s because separating Womack the man and Womack the artist is impossible, as they’re both the same guy. An award-winning recording artist and a published author, Womack writes songs as honest as anything Hank Williams or Steve Earle ever recorded, and has attracted the attention of the national press while accumulating a loyal following.

To experience the "Essential, Eccentric South" real & raw go to http://www.twistedsouth.com VANDAVEER is the song-singing, record-making, globetrotting project penned and put forth by folk-pop tunesmith Mark Charles Heidinger. Borned in cloudy Ohio, raised in Kentucky, and currently camped out in the nation's capital, Vandaveer offers up melodic Americana that is both haunting and easy, forlorn and welcoming, with stories as universal as the songs they inhabit. Vandaveer shapeshifts from stage to studio and back with a host of revolving characters, most prominent among them Rose Guerin, offering up the loveliest harmonies heard this side of Eden. The macabre has long held uneasy sway over the human condition. From ghost stories to creation myths, from CSI to Shakespeare, from cable news voyeurism to Edgar Allan Poe, subjects of death, murder and all things ghastly have fascinated and frightened for centuries. Songs are no exception. From Old World roots to more recent incarnations in America, the murder ballad has traversed, shapeshifted and persevered. Despite our collective desire to be good and virtuous, people do very bad things.
To experience the "Essential, Eccentric South" real & raw go to http://www.twistedsouth.com The Breton Sound began in earnest with Jonathan Pretus and longtime friend and collaborator, Stephen Turner (lead guitar). This fruitful early period produced an ambitious E.P., Eudaemonia, one that covered a wide range of influences, combining Pretus’s Beatlesesque pop sensibility with Turner’s Rush-infused guitar work. Over the course of the next year, the two would perform and tour in support of Eudaemonia aided by a cast of friends filling in on bass and drums. During that time, the band solidified into it’s current lineup. In addition to Pretus and Turner, The Breton Sound include Brian Pretus (bass/vocals), and Jonathan Alcon (drums/percussion). Turner and Alcon had previously forged a strong musical bond in Epic, their experimental progressive rock group; and Brian, Pretus’s younger brother, brings years of experience in New Orleans tight knit punk rock community.
