The Endurance Hour is a Dave Erickson Media Production. Dr. Amy Lichon was born with a passion for movement, health and competitive sports. It is what has inspired her to understand more about the body, mind, and spirit.  She was positively influenced by her parents: her father a dentist with a love of lifelong learning and caring for his patients, and her mother who was into yoga, meditation, and movement practices before it became mainstream.    Dr. Lichon grew up playing tennis competitively in the juniors and earned a scholarship playing for Miami University.  Her interest in learning more about the human body lead her to the decision of going to medical school. She is a graduate of Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, and is double board certified in adult and pediatric anesthesia.  She completed her residency at the University of Chicago and her pediatric fellowship at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.  When she moved to Colorado in 2000, she fell in love with the sport of triathlon. She competes at the elite age group level and has competed in the Ironman World Championships in Kona as well as many Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Dr. Lichon and her husband have two children, ages 12 and 8, and so she understands that life is a dynamic balance of family, work, and hobbies. In 2015 Dr.Lichon began working with heart rate variability (HRV) a form of biofeedback that has been instrumental in understanding how we can influence our own physiology and health. She has certification in Health and Human Performance from Renovo Advantage, which uses Firstbeat and HeartMath technologies.  In 2016 she was also educated in the mental skills and tools that are used by the highly successful Mindroom Peak Sport Performance program based in Toronto,Canada.  Currently she is working on certification in functional medicine, to bring her patients and athletes to a new level of health that optimizes ALL parts of one’s being. This approach always looks at lifestyle factors first: stress management, diet/nutrition, sleep, exercise and relationships. The Functional Medicine model is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness.   She is excited to have the opportunity and privilege to use her knowledge to make your life the best it can be!
