Is there anything less sexy than talking about Sexually Transmitted Diseases? Yes, getting them and giving them, and thinking your sex life is over if you have them. That's not even kind of sexy. Today, we talk with Damon Holzum about safe sex from every position. What's out there, how to protect yourself, how to talk about it and how to keep having hot sex for the rest of your life. Society seems to be operating on the unnatural assumption that men are naturally more sexual than women. Further, that women are more docile in our sexuality, more naturally committed to monogamy and more easily satisfied. Although anyone who has spent any time really talking to women about what they want sexually would know that's nonsense, no one had really set out to prove how wild women are when it comes to our sexuality, and how wildly diverse. Today's guest, Daniel Bergner is the author of the best-selling book, What Women Want, and we'll be talking to him trying to find out the answer to that age-old question. If we can handle the answer.
Sex work is often demeaned in our culture, for myriad reasons. Saying someone looks like a hooker is a derogatory thing, sex workers are not protected by any sort of laws, and because what they do is illegal they rarely report it when they are victims of crimes. But it's a huge industry, one that provides a valuable service to many people. So why don't we value it? Today we're talking to Sabrina Morgan about the myriad services that sex work provides, the role that sex work has played in our society and the progress that is being - or needs to be - made in protecting sex worker's rights
How many people really understand what the "T" in LGBT stands for? (Or for that matter, that most of us are saying LGBTQI, now? But that's another show.) Transgendered or Transsexual people are often thought of as simply being cross-dressers. But there is much more to it than that. Today, we're talking with a trans woman about all aspects of her journey from star athlete and husband to the woman who most of us know her as now.
With sex-ed being cut out of schools, people all of age using porn as sex-ed, STIs like Gonorrhea becoming almost completely drug-resistant, teens having anal sex so that they can stay virgins, sex-ed has never been more important than it is right now. But how can we educate out kids about the many important aspects of human sexuality, even as the media continues to spread messages that are mixed, at best? On today's show, Lanae StJohn helps us figure out what we can do as individuals, as parents and maybe, if we're lucky, as a society
Getting what you want sexually means knowing how to ask for it, and knowing how to listen to the answer you get. Whether your goal is trying something new, or protecting sexual boundaries, learning to talk about it is the first step. Sabrina Morgan helps out with the basics, as well as teaching us how to talk dirty, because consent can be fun and sexy!
Titties, boobies, can, knockes, jugs…Whatever you call ‘em, they are a fixture in the media, a fixation for many and a natural part of our lives. They can get dressed up, diseased, be a source of food, pleasure or frustration for many of us. Today, we talk with Elisabeth Dale about the Breast Life, and how to live it
We love porn, and are more than happy to admit it. We actually wish more people would watch it, if that's even statistically possible. However, porn is not sex-ed, and it is not a how-to manual. So we're talking with Cindy Gallup, founder of Make Love Not Porn, to learn the ins and outs of using porn as a tool in your real sexual relationships
Oh, the poor penis. It seems so simple, and is so misunderstood. It's not an on / off switch any more than it's a stick-shift, it has nerves, and moods, and muscles. And sometimes it just wants a hug. Sometimes, it just wants to be left alone. We'll dig into the physiology, psychology and sexuality of this much-maligned member on love's lexicon.
Original air date: 10/24/12 Understanding the Menstrual Cycle with Elizabeth Fern People often focus on "the period" as a messy obstacle to be dealt with, without ever thinking of the larger implications - and even beauty and power - of the menstrual cycle. Then again, some women just hate it. We'll explore the menstrual cycle, and all the body parts and emotional states that are connected to it
