Are some zones inherently more laggy Yes, the more graphically intense an area, the more foliage, etc. and the higher your graphic settings, the more lag there will be. Where do you get feedback to bring back to the dev team Everywhere. Forums, comments in the HtoI events and ones like it, twitter, facebook, comments on gaming articles, fansites, kinship sites, even youtube comments. Turbine contributing prizing for events like Winterstock A lot of people aren’t aware, but if you send Sapience a PM on the forums and let him know your event and when it is, if he can get any prizing for you he will. Update 13 when will we hear more Sooner than you probably think. He’s actually working on stuff right now. There are area revamps planned (yes, plural). Another 20 questions call for questions later this week. Will we ever be able to mail more than one item (attachment) at a time in-game Significant technical issues to doing so, but never say never. Mail is a complicated system that requires lots of engineers. As a rule, the more simple and easy a change seems, the reality is often the opposite. Are there any plugins officially supported by Turbine They do not QA plugins, they just provide the API and framework for skinning. Jinjaah talked at length about the Moors with a PvP player’s council member when they were out to Turbine, and it seemed a productive discussion. Other questions re: Moors were around the visuals and graphics in the moors – will they be getting a significant update anytime soon, and Sapience was saying no, the focus will not likely be on the look or the graphics. There were some fairly technical moors-related questions asked that I didn't quite follow, and Sapience said he's going to leave those to Jinjaah when he's able to come in and do the event, which he does plan on doing at some future point when he has time. A few players stepped in at this point and said that they did know the answers to some of those questions, and apparently a lot of the fixes for the issues discussed are coming next update, 12.2 (which Sapience said should probably be live next week sometime). When will players council members be changing up? - They will be changing at anniversary time. A few exceptionally helpful members will be staying on, but the rest will be replaced. Applications will be posted in the forums. Whatever happened to the global chat channel that was discussed before HD? - It is by no means dead – they are still working on it. A lot of it depends on when an engineer is available and has nothing else to do, which isn’t often. They need to also consider how many chat channels (if more than one) and what they might be. Could we get an Arena for sparring? - There is one in the new HD area that was built with the hope that players would use it for sparring. I have no idea where it is - if anyone has any ideas let me know. There is also one in Evendim (at Ost Forod, the second Stone Marker quest takes you there). Will there ever be a Bracketed Sparring Tournament? - Players have tried doing it. It takes a lot of work but it can be done (by players). Disable sparring timers for tournaments? - Not likely they will be disabled, but he will pass on the suggestion to make them longer. Someone suggested that if they are extended then sparring should be removed from crafting and auction houses and he said that sounded reasonable. Bounders Bounty rewards, when will they be up? - As far as he knows they’re still working on getting the names together for the various statues on every server, so not quite ready yet, but will make a post when there’s more info. Will Hobnobigans be returning? (this one comes up every HtI run) - Sapience says he will never give up on trying to get the devs to bring it back. It’s just one of those things that has to take a lower priority to other things so may take awhile. Will the devs ever play huge trolls in-game? - Never say never. Could happen. Could we ever take a passenger on a horse? - It’s useful to think of horses as “horse pants” because that is essentially what they are, so that creates a technical issue that makes passengers extremely unlikely to ever happen. What is the likelihood we will someday get a boat or a horse cart ‘mount’ even just for fun? - He doesn’t think anything like that is in the works but he will pass the suggestion along. When Turbine took the servers back from Codemasters, the standards that Turbine set were not followed. If they transferred your characters, they could end up on someone elses account and you would never get them back. Northern Mirkwood is not on roadmap for this year. The team has read all the suggestions for housing revamps. ALL. Horseshoe hint: Everyone needs some luck with a snowball fight. The horseshoe keeps being changed and added to as developers add more things to it. First Agers: Soon™ Lotteries: the last power loss took out the hardware that runs the lotteries. No plans to merge servers LUA: The creator of the LUA plugin system is still with the company. It is a pet project and he updates it as a hobby. Rift may never be updated. Many love the Rift and it may never be updated because they would have to change a lot of things in it that they feel players would not like. Such as break it up into sections and update raid mechanics. So the love for the Rift is preventing the Rift form being scaled. Some instances will be scaled this year, but he doesn’t know what ones. There are a lot of talks about PVMP that can’t be talked about. There is talk on adding larger group sizes in some of the epic battles. Cosmetics for weapons and shields are impossible and can not be done. Inventory discussion is going on right now. Possible crafted quest items to cut down on storage. “Did not talk about this much. Could this mean crafted task stuff?” Creeps being let loose in the main world has been brought up a lot. Here’s how it works The day before the challenge, I’ll announce the server chosen at random and the time the challenge starts. The challenge starts at the milestone outside The Prancing Pony in Bree. Each server is allowed two tries during the live stream. If my Hobbit is defeated he’ll reset to the milestone outside the Prancing Pony and you’ll need to start again. After the second defeat occurs, the challenge is over and the group has failed. Important details My Hobbit will be on foot. No mounts. Because a level 10 Hobbit isn’t much of a fighter past certain areas, my Hobbit will /follow one person the group designates. Make sure it’s someone who knows the way! GM’s will be notified prior to each event. So anyone with plans to grief, harass, or otherwise make trouble during the event should be aware the GMs are on call and watching the stream. So even if I miss it, they probably won’t. The idea here is to have FUN! Every server will get a chance to try and get the Hobbits to Isengard. Time will be the ranking method. The fastest time gets the top slot. An official leaderboard thread will be created and all official times and success/failure information will be posted there. Listen now: Predictions for 2013 Cari's Predictions War goats in mounted combat in Rohan Rohirrim style cosmetics and hair styles will be made available in the store for purchase. PvMP will get some love in the next expansion with a tie in to Helm's Deep. Another instrument will be added. Perhaps a violin type. The Instance finder will be cross server. There will be a store option to purchase summonable pets ala the style of the Avarc in Bree. Some kind of clickable summonable thing. Chris Predictions: War-Steeds will get tons of emotes through the store Continued release schedule: Updates every three month and expansion in Late Summer/Early Fall Helms-Deep! Spring 2013 This year will see the addition of one more class with the expansion. Heavy Hobbit tie in post update 9. For F’s sake, I just want my damn Ent Play! Layanor Predictions: The new expansion will be announced in April and will be the Wilderlands. This will include north mirkwood and new areas such as dale, and a explorable lonely mountain instance cluster. West Rohan will be an add on area and Helms deep will be a single 12 man raid. Much like the great river area. This will come out around July. The second hobbit movie is December 2013. So I am going to guess a flashback raid with Smaug. They have already with Durins bane The classes feel like they are just being rehashed over and over again. Even the revamps feel stale a few days after. There will be a new dwarf only class or elf only class. Everyone wants a housing revamp. And Turbine has said it is too big of a job to do it. So they will leave the old areas open as is. And open a new instance for higher level players. Houses in Moria, Lothlorien, Rohan, and Enedwaith will open up. Legendary items will get a update. Not a major one, just a UI update, such as a legacy tree of some sort to make the system make more sense from thee casual player. Predictions for 2014 Cari's Predictions The Path’s of the Dead will be part of an instance pack We'll get a new festival There will finally be a new hobby - golf We'll finally, finally get a new class We won’t be getting much in the way of cosmetics until they figure out how to handle the inventory issue. They will break apart the Rift. Layanor's Predictions Moria instances will get scaled Our first step into Gondor will be sesion play No new 12 man instances Trollshaws revamp PVMP Map revamp Revamping or adding in new Bounties Chris Predictions The housing revamp will not be very exciting and players will be thoroughly underwhelmed. We will see more expansion within the already available land mass. No new zone (even mini-zone ala Great River) will be added to the game. At least one festival will get a total revamp. Instances found within Epic Book 11: The Golden Hall will now be completely voice-acted. Instead, our approach (to Helm's Deep) has been to convey what the battle would have felt like if your character were a part of it. It’s a compromise, for sure, but it’s one that allows us to get you involved in the battle in such a way that it still *feels* like the Battle of the Hornburg, even if there’s a hobbit there, or an extra dwarf. Lengthy animations have been shortened or changed Every class now gets a crowd control break There is also a response skill bar that pop up for special skill events. Threat has also been changed. If you are in a tank build, most of your skills will now be tanking skills instead of just three or four. Instead of doing these calculations during logon, we will now do them after. Your Skirmish stats will then update in the background, as you play. This should allow some characters who have been unable to login due to a timeout to get into the game. Please note, your Skirmish stats will not display correctly until all of the processing is completed after logging in. Please note: Exiting the game or logging out your character before the skirmish data has finished updating may cause your client to crash. No data is lost or damaged if this occurs.
