The history of language points to a shared memory among cultures from the Middle East to the South Pacific of an ancient race of god-kings. SYRIA IS five thousand years of warfare. And deploying American soldiers will not put a stop to the death. This week’s program was inspired by a report earlier this week that an American armored convoy crossed into Syria from Iraq to bring equipment and weapons to bases in oil-rich eastern regions of Syria, currently under the control of Kurdish forces. In October 2019, President Trump addressed the American people from the White House and said, “We’re getting out. Let someone else fight over this long blood-stained sand. The job of our military is not to police the world.” And yet, after one full day in office, the Biden administration is sending our troops back into Syria. YOUR VOTE doesn’t really matter. That’s the lesson of the 2020 election. As we await the outcome of the legal challenges by President Trump to election results in key states, we dig into our archives for an interview recorded in 2006 that illustrates that the irregularities witnessed a few weeks ago are nothing new—and may, in fact, be features of the machines.
