Up Close: The CBC Radio 2 Sessions

Its Hockey Day in Canada and Up Close thought it would drag Dave Bidini in to the studio for a preview of his Stolen from a Hockey Card concert. Dave brought along Stephen Stanley, Chris Murphy and the BidiniBand.

On this edition of Up Close, Elliott Brood record great live renditions of Northern Air and If I Get Old from their latest CD “Days Into Years” and a cover of a Bob Dylan song that was made famous by The Band.

Kathleen Edwards' latest album Voyageur was just released and to celebrate this long anticipated CD we thought we should get Kathleen in studio for an Up Close session.

Saskatoon’s The Deep Dark Woods bring their soulful Americana to the Up Close studio for an intimate session.

We thought we would end the year with a special Christmas edition of Up Close. Our friends at Six Shooter Records put together a Christmas themed session for us that features The Beauties, Justin Rutledge and Jenn Grant.

Hot on the heels of winning a place on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine The Sheepdogs took over the Drive studio for an Up Close session. The band rocked the place with their hit single I Don't Know as well as making a political statement with their song Who?. But the coolest thing about the session is the swamp boogie that The Sheepdogs infuse in to The Kinks.

Jimmy Rankin recently picked up sticks and moved to Nashville but before he did he dropped by the Drive Studio for an up close and intimate performance of songs from his latest CD ‘Forget About The World'. Jimmy also chose a fitting cover song for the session, The Cars, Drive.
