Two victories to discuss this week: two games in which Manchester United scored three. Then there’s a fine victory over Brighton to cap off a good week for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.  #390 – Impotence R Us | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

United lost at Bournemouth as any momentum Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team had gained over the past fortnight evaporated during a miserable day on the south coast. Bournemouth deserved the victory; United came away with nothing after a performance of miserable impotence. Also on this week’s show: a look ahead to games against Partizan and Brighton at Old Trafford, plenty of listener questions and, for backers, we rank United’s post-Fergie managers. Spoiler: It’s not looking good for Ole.   Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #389 – McSauce … Back of the net! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

 #388 – Could be worse | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side earned a draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford, but could it have been so much more. Ed & Paul discuss all the fallout from United’s game with Liverpool where the home side emerged with some credit after a more competitive performance than of late. Can the result kick-start United’s season? There’s a discussion about Ed Woodward’s recent PR offensive, with the United chief exec really keen to let you know that commercial priorities have no impact on how United run the “football side of the business.” Finally, there’s a look ahead to fixtures against Partizan Belgrade and Norwich City.   Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #387 – Fatalism, Inc. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

United lost at Newcastle. It was just about as bad as anything in the post-Fergie era. Fans are calling for Ole’s head. Would it make a difference? Probably not. Ed & Paul discuss United’s draw with Alkmaar, defeat at Newcastle, and the upcoming game against Liverpool. Sorry folks, but very little of it is positive. For backers we discuss our favourite sports. Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #386 – Asta-nah, etc | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

What a week. Narrow victory over Kazakhstan Champions Astana, was followed by a thorough hammering in the East End, and then a penalty-shootout victory over might Rochdale. Questions are asked! Ed & Paul discuss the week’s games, look ahead to Arsenal next Monday, dive into United’s annual financial results, and take all your questions. Well, nearly all of them (no, not nearly all of them). For backers commentary on the Rochdale game. No, really. Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #385 – Foxes, Tamed | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

Victory over Leicester City was something of a surprise given the dominant narrative around these two sides. The Foxes are a team on the rise, with a high quality midfield, and an in-form striker. United, by contrast, a team in perpetual transition, with a midfield as weak as any in living memory. The result, a 1-0 victory, broke this narrative, although the game played out to a predictable pattern. Ed & Paul discuss the weekend’s victory, look forward to United’s Europa League kick-off at home to FC Astana and preview the upcoming match at West Ham. As always, there are plenty of listener questions answered and for backers, Space, the Final Frontier.   Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #384 – AQA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

United continued a disappointing start to the season with a draw at Southampton, although Welsh youngster Daniel James scored another fine goal. On this episode Ed & Paul briefly look back to the game at St. Mary’s, preview United’s weekend fixture against Leicester and then take lots of listener questions.   Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #383 – Rash decisions cost Reds | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

So much for the promising start to the season. It was always going to be a bumpy campaign, but few envisioned United dropping points at home to Crystal Palace, and in such devastating fashion. Ed & Paul look back at United’s weekend defeat, concluding Ole has many problems to address if the Reds are to progress this season. There are plenty of listener questions, a look ahead to United’s game against Southampton at the weekend, a (very brief) chat about cricket and for backers a chat about some favourite podcasts.   Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #382 – Reds bite back | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

Manchester United were outclassed three times by Wolves last season. This is time it was United’s turn to demonstrate some quality, putting in an encouraging performance in a 1-1 draw at Molineux. Anthony Martial scored the Reds’ only goal as United dominated for much of the match. Yet, the post-match commentary focused entirely on Paul Pogba’s penalty miss. Hysterical? Much. For backers, Ed & Paul look at the Premier League managerial sack race.   Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #381 – 4-0 FC is back | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

United began the new season in the most exciting fashion, beating Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford. Nobody quite saw it coming. Ed & Paul look back on United’s opening day victory, review the performances of new players Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, and pull out lessons-learned from Ole’s new tactical approach. There’s also a preview of United’s upcoming game against last season’s bogey-team Wolverhampton Wanderers. For backers, a look at transfers in and out from some of the big European clubs.   Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #380 – The new season starts here | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

The summer’s entertainment has ended, with United losing out on the famous transfer trophy having done far less in the market than was needed to revitalise a flagging club. Ed & Paul look back on moves for Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James this summer, concluding that it is far from enough to return United to former glories. There’s a look back at the summer of sport, a look ahead to the new season, and a preview of United’s opener against Chelsea. For backers, a look back at the Cricket World Cup.   Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #379 – The (Famous) Rant Cast End of Season Awards | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

United signed off the season in the most patric fashion: a limp draw against already relegated Huddersfield Town followed by a humiliating home defeat to already relegated Cardiff City. It capped off a truly disastrous season. Ed & Paul look back on the finals games of the season, unsurprisingly concluding that United need a massive overhaul if the club is to compete once again. Where does Ole Gunnar Solskjaer go from here? There are player ratings and the much coveted Rant Cast Awards, although nobody deserves one. For backers, a look back at 10 years of Rant Cast. Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.  #378 – De Got To Be Kidding Us | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

United’s hopes of making next season’s Champions League were dealt an almost certainly fatal blow when the Reds drew against Chelsea at Old Trafford last weekend. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men started the game positively until under-pressure goalkeeper David De Gea chucked another one into his own net. Ed & Paul look back on the draw with Chelsea, concluding that – barring a minor miracle – next season’s Europa League campaign will be nothing short of depressing. There’s a look at United’s squad the long-overdue, but very unlikely, overhaul that is required. And, as usual, there are plenty of listener questions. For backers Ed & Paul look at the state of play in the major European leagues. Rant Cast is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, acast and all good podcast apps.
