Architecture in Helsinki are back on the road, kicking off a string of shows across Australia tomorrow night. Canadian born now Sydney-based, solo producer Guerre, is the master of deceptively simple, etherial sounds. Call it what you will, we just call it good music. 0neohtrix Point Never is Daniel Lopatin, a US producer whose 2009 anthology 'Rifts' was met with much acclaim from publications such as Wire, Pitchfork, Fader, The Guardian, The Quietus, and XLR8R. He is also one half of production duo Ford & Lopatin (aka Games), whose amazing debut album 'Channel Pressure' was released through their Software imprint earlier this year. 0PN describes his production as the result of a love affair with polyphonic synthesizers that dates back to childhood jam sessions with his father's Juno 60. An instrument which, like B.B. King's Lucille, he has never left behind. This weeks modcast is perfect for late nights and reflection. The anticipation around Azari & III's upcoming self-titled album is growing. NME have already named it the best house album of the year, and we're inclined to agree. Hailing from Portland via New Zealand, Unknown Mortal Orchestra like to maintain a bit of mystery. However super-sleuths would recognise main man Ruban Nielson from the now defunct Mint Chicks. UMO's sound is one part Joshua Tree acid voyage, two parts tripped out tie-dye printing factory and three parts Ringo Starr-gazing catchy melodies. We're fans. Blackjoy has turned in a truly special mix for you this week. In all honesty, we've been listening to this one on repeat. He's called it Beautiful Sadness. Raised with FM Rock, Blackjoy discovered his passion for music through Led Zeppelin, Sonic Youth and Herbie Hancock. Later getting into American jazz, soul, funk, techno, house and latterly disco.
