Elseleyn Craus Version | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

A fast embellished version of the German Song Elselein liebstes Elselein from the Crauss Lute book, click on Headline to listen (c) 2005-2011 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com

Le Roy - Branle simple de moy pitié | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Haunting piece, rather dark for a Branle. Le Roy's book for 4-course renaissance guitar is absolutely fascinating. And sounds pretty good on the Uke. (c) 2005 -2009 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com

Le Roy - Pavane played on Ukulele | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Today, the idea of using an Ukulele as a substitute for a renaissance guitar came true. Bought a rather inexpensive tenor uke with fine Aquila Nylgut strings, which make a good sound. If you want to listen to a sound example, just click on the headline. If you want to learn the Ukulele (classic or modern style) I recommend the great site of Rob McKillop: FingerStyleUke (c) 2005-2009 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com

Bossinensis goes Uke - Ricercar 6 | File Type: application/pdf | Duration: Unknown
Unknown file type. Enclosure URL IS: - http://www.bogulamedia.de/lute/bossi6uke.pdf

I am hooked. After studying the great stuff Rob MacKillop sent to me (from FingerstyleUke) I reentabulted a nice little recercar by Bossinensis. It's fresh and cool and fun, yeah. If you want to listen to it, click on the headline, if you like to play it yourself, here comes the tab: Bossinensis goes uke. (Original tab by Sarge Gerbode. Listen to Recercar6 (c) 2005 W.G.  Hans Newsidler - Ach Lieb mit Leid | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Ach lieb mit Leid (Premium version), from "Ein Newgeordnet Künstlich Lautenbuch". The diminutions are tricky. Still not the real thing, but again benign reverb makes it bearable. (c) 2005-08 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com

Lautenfestival Burg Sternberg 09 | File Type: application/x-shockwave-flash | Duration: Unknown

Lautenfestival Burg Sternberg 09 from Eric Klepptenberger on Vimeo. We had great fun, at Burg Sternberg. More than 60 lutenists met in this historical venue to make music, talk and drink together.

Encina - Una saniosa porfia | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

"Una saniosa porfia", a beautiful intabulation of Encinas song by Pascale Bouquet, who I met at the International Lute Festival in Antwerp. She has been editing the lute edition of the French Lute Society for over 20 years. (Click on headline to listen!) (c) 2005-2008 W.G. Bogula

Newsidler - Ein seer guter organistischer preambel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Picture: The moment I got my new lute from lutebuilder Peter van Wonterghem. Great work, Peter! Ein seer guter organistischer Preambel, from "Ein Newgeordnet Künstlich Lautenbuch". A free toccata style piece by Newsidler. Played on my new lute at a lute meeting in Cottbus Germany in Oct. 2008. Thanks to Wolfgang Wiehe for the recording. (Click on headline to listen!) (c) 2005-2008 W.G. Bogula

Hans Newsidler (1508-1563): Zart schoene frau | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Zart schoene Frau, from "Ein Newgeordnet Künstlich Lautenbuch". It looks quite easy, but is tricky in the details. Benign reverb makes it bearable. (c) 2005-08 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com

Hans Newsidler (1508-1563): Benedictus | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Neither to the left, nor to the right, you see Hans Newsidler. The picture was taken during the International Lutefestival in the Naturkundemuseum in Regensburg. Benedictus, from "Ein Newgeordnet Künstlich Lautenbuch". An intabulation of a Heinrich Isaac setting. It contains all the characteristic elements of Newsidlers art. Rapid runs and embellishments at the brink of playability. Currently it's a little beyond my horizon, but I keep trying. (c) 2005-2008 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com

 G. M. da Crema (1520-1570): Je le leray | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

An intabulation of an anonymous French chanson Je le leray by my beloved Giovanni Maria Da Crema, eccellente musicho & sonator di Lauto, a great lutenist from Venice. The piece is from the Intavolatura di liuto, Libro Primo di Recercari, Canzon Francese, Motetti, Madrigali, Pass’e mezzi, Saltarelli (printed in Venice in 1546). (c) 2005-2008 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com

 F. da Milano - Ricercar 82 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

A nice fantasia by Francisco "Il divino" da Milano (1497 - 1543), one of the most reputed lutenists of the Renaissance. Enjoy (click on title to listen to MP3). (c) 2005-2008 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com

Recercare 5 from the Siena Manuscript (about 1590) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

A nice little recercare, thats starts with a solo scale and afterwards weaves a polyphonic web from fragments of the scale. (c) 2005 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com

 Alonso Mudarra (c. 1510 - 1580) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

In his Tres Libros we find a colorful variety of vihuela music: Fantasias, intabulations, glosas, differencias, dances and songs. This podcast gives a brief introduction to the works of Mudarra and their relation to Josquin Des Prés. Playlist: Intro: Fantasia del primer tono - E.  Giovanni Maria da Crema: Recercare XIIi | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Another georgous recercare from Giovanni Maria Da Crema, eccellente musicho & sonator di Lauto, a great lutenist from Venice. The piece is from the Libro Primo d' intavolatura (1546). Some of da Cremas works later were co-published with works from Francesco da Milano ( I missed on tone, but I love the rest ;-) Enjoy. (c) 2005 W.G. Bogula / bogula (a.t) gmail.com
