Season 9, Episode 80 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about some recent news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and that includes recapping some Super Bowl week comments made by Bill Cowher and Jerome Bettis about the current culture of the team, how head coach Mike Tomlin runs the team behind closed doors and the ongoing saga with wide receiver Antonio Brown and what might can be done to fix that. We discuss a recent transaction made by the Steelers that caught us off guard before talking some about the decision to let defensive coordinator Keith Butler adding coaching the outside linebackers to his list of duties. Midway through this show we are joined once again by former Steelers defensive lineman Chris Hoke, who played in three Super Bowls during his long career in Pittsburgh. Chris shares with Alex and I some of his Super Bowl week memories in addition to letting us know the differences in coaching styles between Cowher and Tomlin being as he played for both of them. Hoke lets us know how he thinks the Steelers and Tomlin should try to move forward with Brown, the role he thinks quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may have played in the most-recent drama and how he thinks the entire situation might ultimately play out with all parties. As expected, Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown remains in the news heading into the week of the Super Bowl so we discuss the latest on him as well as the Friday report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com as it relates to what potential happens in the Steelers locker room and meeting rooms and more. We go over several players participating in Mobile, AL that have caught our attention and ones that we plan on learning more about throughout the pre-draft process. The Pittsburgh Steelers have a long history of drafting players who participated in one of the three annual college all-star games so we discuss that topic quite a bit and explain why we will be profiling a lot of players from those rosters this offseason. We go over a few ages of a few senior Senior Bowl players and discuss how much that might matter to the Steelers. We also discuss the likelihood of the Steelers drafting another underclassman in the first-round this year and talk about how Florida edge-rusher Jachai Polite could be a serious candidate and if we should be concerned about some of his measurables. Our 2019 NFL Draft profiles are now in high gear so Alex talks about a few recent players he has studied. I released my annual state of the Pittsburgh Steelers salary cap situation post on Tuesday so Alex and I go over that thoroughly with the 2019 new league year now roughly seven weeks away. We discuss several things that are likely to happen between now and the middle of March and each might impact the Steelers salary cap situation. We end our salary cap discussion with a look ahead at how the Steelers might approach free agency this offseason and throw around a few names of players they might want to look at signing. Season 9, Episode 76 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to recapping the NFL's Conference Championship games that took place on Sunday that has resulted in Super Bowl LIII now featuring the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. In addition to talking about how all four teams played on Sunday, Alex and I spend a lot of time discussing the officiating in those two games and going over the key calls and non-calls. We also wonder out loud about how the NFL might go about fixing their officiating problem and if that's even a possibility. Pittsburgh Steelers safety Morgan Burnett apparently wants the team to release him in the next 8 or so weeks so we go over that report and discuss how he's likely to be granted his request. We also discuss where that would leave the Steelers in terms of a dimeback need in 2019 and how they could potentially go about replacing Burnett. Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown had another social media post over the weekend that has people speculating several things so we go over that topic in addition to mopping up and recapping some final quotes from team president Art Rooney II with a few related to defensive play calling and officiating.
