 Episode-104- TSP Rewind – Holy Crap I Just Found Out Everything Isn’t Super – Part 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:26:06

Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes. Today’s episode was originally Episode-1191- Holy Crap I Just Found Out Everything Isn’t Super – Part 2 and was originally published on August 21st, 2019. The following are the original show notes from that episode… Today we continue our focus on things you can do to move from totally unprepared to basically prepared as a first stage of insuring your future. While these steps are dramatically simple and won’t make you bullet proof they will get you through 90% of the disasters that might come you way. These initial steps then form an effective building platform as you build up for the 10% of disasters that are less likely but have larger impact scales. If you are new to prepping I suggest you listen to part one of this series first and use the below referenced episodes as more information on getting started, calming fears and getting your plans organized. Episode-1166- The Fundamental Mentality of Modern Survivalism Episode-848- Modern Survival Philosophy Episode-474- Disaster Probability, Impact and Commonality Episode-370- Situational Awareness vs Normalcy Bias   With those four episodes on your side you will be well on the way to understanding how to formulate your own plan based on your own needs based on your own risk tolerance. Today I will continue on the work we did yesterday, finishing off with some more thoughts on security, then move on to health and sanitation and from there wrap things up with developing financial security. The following are the original show notes from that episode… My intern Josiah that I should re do an older show that I haven’t done in a while. Perhaps modern survival philosophy or similar. He pointed out that many folks will show up in the Zello Channel and you can tell they have no knowledge of TSP Core Philosophy. However, I don’t like to overdue “reruns” so today I am going to focus on the mentality of new preppers and survivalists, how to get your head on strait and begin a solutions based system. That said I am going to recommend several past episodes (one quite recent) for new preppers and modern survivalists to develop the core knowledge necessary to build a truly resiliant life. They are Episode-1166- The Fundamental Mentality of Modern Survivalism Episode-848- Modern Survival Philosophy Episode-474- Disaster Probability, Impact and Commonality Episode-370- Situational Awareness vs Normalcy Bias   With those four episodes on your side you will be well on the way to understanding how to formulate your own plan based on your own needs based on your own risk tolerance. Today I will expand on these four core episodes. I will discuss what happens in the mind of the person who suddenly realizes things are not as safe as they appear. What “first exposure” feels like, which will be helpful for many who have forgotten. I will also discuss how to rein in this fear and this feeling of exposure and channel it instead into productive motivation.  Episode-2454- Choosing the 6 Basic Guns that Cover 99% of What Anyone Needs | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:35:24

I recently got an email about getting new guns, not to pick on the guy but here it is to show the problem I want to fix today, some specifics redacted for privacy. I have a different take on a gun build question. I would like your help in building the ultimate prepper / hunter / red neck arsenal starting from near zero. Based on your expertise and the objectives I outline, I’d like you to tell me how many guns I should have, what calibers, what accessories, etc to most efficiently accomplish what I’m trying to do.  Your budget is $5,000. My situation – I live in xxxx and have a ~50 acre ranch in xxxx, County.  Ranch is overrun with brush and won’t get shots longer than 100 yards – I will occasionally hunt with clients for work (I’m in high end sales) – I can give you a little bit of a head start because I currently own a 70s-era 12 ga. Remington 1100 with new 26” and 30” barrels with remchoke.  My dad is also going to pass on to me a 30+ year old 22 revolver and 22 rifle in the short term.  Assume these are lower quality.  Feel free to recommend replacements for any of these if you think appropriate, or just ignore if you think it makes a better question for the show. My objectives, in descending order of importance, are 1) deer / hog hunting 2) side arm for protection from hogs/coyotes while working on my ranch 3) home protection / defense, including potentially concealed carry.  Note, I have large hands so I would prefer a larger carry weapon for shooting comfort 4) teaching my young kids to shoot when they get old enough 5) skeet shooting, for me and my wife (should i get a 20 ga?) 6) large game (elk / bear) hunting on occasional hunting trips 7) upland game / waterfowl hunting 8) pest elimination (grackles, rabbits, etc) 9) zombie apocalypse   As I’ve thought about what to buy, a few questions I’ve considered are: 1) 9mm, 40, or 45 for handgun? 2) should I get something like a 270 for deer and a 300 win mag for larger game, or a 30-06 for everything? 3) does a pistol caliber carbine make sense for me?   Thank you Jack for all that you do.  I’m really looking forward to your response. Regards, James Do you see the issue?  The guy is actually on point with the basics but then expands to “all over the map”.  Don’t feel bad James, I do this same shit too, every guy ever that decided to get a “new gun” or “new guns” does the same shit.  Something like this as our friend stands at a counter waiting to talk to someone…. “The 6.5 Grendel is the most accurate round, I should get one, but what if I want to hunt elk, is that enough gun.  I better ask on SomethingSomething Forum.  No, I already know they will tell me I am stupid for that, I should get a 7MM Mag, but all I really hunt is deer for now and I have a deer gun. You now the 6.5 can be in an AR platform, that would be good but I can’t hunt with that in some states.  H’mm I do like lever guns, they come in 45-70, that would knock down anything but what if I have a long shot.” Finally the clerk saunters over and says, is there something I could show you and our friend says something like… That Ruger revolver there in 357, do you have something similar to it in a 44 magnum? Friends our grandfathers had is down, we will attempt to build a base for James on their wisdom and from the provide guidance into additional decisions.  But let’s face it in the end asking a man to pick a single gun quickly for any need or want is like asking a kid in a penny candy store to pick a single piece of candy.  He won’t be able to make a decision and he is gonna come with a hundred excuses as to why he needs another one. Join Me Today to Discuss…. The Wisdom of Our Grandfathers – “Beware of the man that carries only one gun“. Expanding it to one gun per specific thing, out grand parents had A 22 rifle A “hunting rifle” A shot gun Mos[...]

 Episode-2452- Setting Up a Secondary Property (BOL) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:23

I have gotten quite a few emails as of late about setting up remote properties, bug out locations etc.  They have ranged from people who are property hunting, to those who just acquired raw land and some with partially developed properties. Today we discuss remote land/home ownership and the unique advantages and challenges it represents. Far to many see a BOL solely as a place for when the shit has really hit the fan, like TEOTWAWKI level stuff. The reality is a BOL serves a variety of functions. In our case we haven’t had a BOL since 2011 when we moved to Arkansas to a place that had been serving as such for about 6 years at that time. After a shot stint up there of about two years, it was clear my wife’s heart was in Texas. We decided to sell the remote property and use the gains to improve our new homestead in Texas. Over the yeas I constantly find myself scouring places like LandsOfTexas.com, LandWatch.com and UnitedCountry.com looking for that perfect get away property. This time my goals are a bit different, yours may be more like my first property, the one I am looking for now or something entirely different. The purpose of today’s show is to help you find the right property for your needs. Further to decide if having such a property is even right for you at all. Join Me Today to Discuss… Why would you want a remote property Fall back location Recreation Investment What I think makes a property desirable Water availability Access to and on the property Structures and or suitable sites for said same Distance in the “sweet spot” Grid power Near a Small Town Secure and having “Good Neighbors” No Restrictions Some additional considerations Vehicle requirements Housing options and choosing a location Drinking water, showers, toilets, etc. Fencing and gates Generators and Off Grid Living Relying on local knowledge The value of “creature comforts” Questions to ask yourself Are there other things I really should do first Can I really afford it How often will I really use it What do I most want out of it   Resources for today’s show… Follow Life With Jack on Instagram TSP Facebook Group Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com The Granddaddy’s Gun Club Binance.com Biltong for Breakfast Find Your TSP Facebook Group for Your State Outlaw You on SongFacts.com Outlaw You – Shooter Jennings   Sponsors of the Day Ridge Wallet J.M.  Episode-2448- Gary Collins on Decluttering Your Life | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:23:01

Gary Collins has a very interesting and unique background that includes military intelligence, Special Agent for the U.S. State Department Diplomatic Security Service, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Collins’ background and expert knowledge brings a much-needed perspective to today’s areas of simple living, health, nutrition, entrepreneurship, self-help and being more self-reliant. He holds an AS degree in Exercise Science, BS in Criminal Justice, and MS in Forensic Science. Gary was raised in the High Desert at the basin of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in a rural part of California. He now lives off-the-grid part of the year in a remote area of NE Washington State, and the other part of year exploring in his travel trailer with his trusty black lab Barney. He enjoyed, and considers himself lucky to have grown up in a very small town experiencing fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors from a very young age. He has been involved in organized sports, nutrition, and fitness for almost four decades. He is also an active follower and teacher of what he calls “life simplification.” He often says: “Today we’re bombarded by too much stress, not enough time for personal fulfillment, and failing to take care of our health… there has to be a better way!” In addition to being a best selling author, he has taught at the University College level, consulted and trained college level athletes, and been interviewed for his expertise on various subjects by CBS Sports, Coast to Coast AM, The RT Network, and FOX News to name a few. His website www.thesimplelifenow.com, best selling Living Off The Grid and The Simple Life book series (his total lifestyle reboot), blows the lid off of conventional life and wellness expectations, and is considered essential for every person seeking a simpler, and happier life.  Gary joins us today to discuss his third third book in The Simple Life series entitled The Simple Life Guide To Decluttering Your Life: The How-To Book of Doing More with Less and Focusing on the Things That Matter. Today on The Survival Podcast, the expert council answers questions on choosing a doctor, home schooling, chemistry, investing, selling online, banking, trucks, social media and more. In the body of your email first tell me the council member your question is for. Second ask your question concisely in one to two sentences maximum. Third any and all details after that. This is the formula to give you the best chance of getting on the air. I do what I can to get as many of your questions as possible on the air but can’t always get to all of them. Our council is made of a wide variety of experts in everything from the tactical to the practical and everything in between. To get more information on our Expert Council visit our “Meet the Expert Council Page” to learn more about them and their specific areas of expertise.
