Episode-2665- John Pugliano and Jack Spirko on CoVid Economic Fallout | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:58:44

We have reached a point where the cure is more dangerous then the disease and I feel it is getting worse daily.  Right now I feel every day we stay shut down will add 10 days to the time needed to rebound and that number is going to continue to grow. John Pugliano and I have been trading some thoughts on this so I asked him to come on air today for a frank and broad discussion on what the future may hold.  Join us today for a stark look at what may be the worse self inflected wound in recorded history.  Episode-2664- Derek Malenczak on Improving your Mental Health | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:39:14

Derek is a researcher and educator at Rutgers University in the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation. He’s currently working on his PhD there, where his focus in on helping college students with mental health issues. Derek also hosts a podcast at the College Student Success Podcast, where he’s had Jack on as his guest in the past. He joins us today to discuss ways to improve your mental health from a self-reliance/preparedness standpoint.  Today Derek attempts to simplify mental health, treatment/rehabilitation for our audience, to give you very concrete ideas/steps on what you can do for yourself if you need help, as well as a few resources on Mental Health First Aid.  Given the stress levels with lock downs and job losses around the CoVid-19 situation, this is a particularly timely topic. I really feel that we are entering a phase of this situation where deaths from suicides and injuries from domestic violence and similar issues are going to exceed the risks for CoVid itself. The idea that we can shut down an economy and lock people in their homes for extended periods of time without massive consequences is one that history will judge harshly.  Still it is our reality, my hope is today’s show gives you some tools to deal with your current situation, or tools you can provide to others if you do not personally need them. Contrary to what celebrities and politicians and feel good types say, no we are NOT all in this together.  It is an asinine statement for someone who lives in a mansion on a multi acre estate to make to a family of six living in a small apartment in a draconian lock down area like Michigan or New York.  The truth is in many ways we are all in this on our own, so we need tools to deal with it.  Episode-2663- Developing Your Personal Counter Economics Game Plan | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:22:33

Two guys I really like (Vin Armani and Pete Quinones) have been trading some thoughts on counter economics recently.  Pete said something like, “Any strategy to defeat the expanding technocracy that does not include counter-economics should be rethought, or abandoned.” Which Vin responded to with, “A successful countereconomics strategy won’t defeat the expanding technocracy, but it will enable individuals to avoid the worst of its effects.” My response to Vin was, “Bingo! Agorism is not going to save the world, it is innate to the human condition. It is something you do, not something you create as a system. It already exists, everywhere all the time, you are part of it consciously or unconsciously. The choice is the key!” Pete also made the same comment on Facebook and it opened some good discussion there as well.  As I thought about today’s show I decided this was a great practical topic, if you come at it from a practical stand point. Join Me Today to Discuss… Let’s start with the evolution of an anarchist/libertarian/agorist/voluntarist What exactly is “counter economics” – short version all gray and black markets are counter economic markets The reality is counter economics are actually created by governments, they are an attempt to restore natural economics However, counter economics are still not 100% natural as they feed off of government stupidity Examples of counter economics at the home/individual level Anything you sell or trade and don’t pay tax on really Home made hooch (shine, mead, etc) Reloading ammo for “friends” Selling farmstead/homestead produce Selling prepared foods Selling livestock outside the system There are millions of examples Why this approach is powerful The tale of two neighbors and one agorist It is all based on your actions You can always win if you are a good designer The more government does the more profitable it becomes People will participate while swearing they disagree with the principle In the 80s we just called it “working under the table”, etc, everyone thought it was a great idea In the end you do what makes sense for you, when it makes sense for you, not because “I’m an agorist” This is the philosophy of America until the early 1900s and it persisted in decline even after that Why you may really need this philosophy soon   Resources for today’s show… Follow Life With Jack on Instagram TSP Facebook Group Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com Heart of Gold on SongFacts.com Heart of Gold – Neil Young   Sponsors of the Day Ready Made Resources Knife Kits   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-2660- Why the Post CoVid “New Normal” may be a Lot Like the “Old Normal” | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:20:24

New normal is a phrase being tossed around a lot lately.  I find it usually used to get the sheep in line.  When the market crashed in 08, dolts like Susie Orman used it to explain to you why you should now work until you are 75 or 80 to retire.  Proving that she was totally useless to anyone who had not already figured it out. Today “new normal” seems designed to condition you to expect to be locked in your own home for at least a few years and that life has changed forever.  Never mind that humanity has survived the black death, small pox, etc. and always returned to “normal”, this time a virus with a real death rate of .1% is different, go to your stall sheep! Yet to me much of what people have called normal for a long time, doesn’t seem very, well, normal.  I grew up in the 80s but in rural PA the adults there had built their entire lives and culture on what was “normal” in the 30s-50s, so to me, that became more normal.  It is what America was like before “progress” and full urbanization and dependency.  It was about 4 generations ago.  Ever hear of the 4th turning?  It sure seems like the final turn of the cycle “crisis” is occurring right now. So when I say old normal in today’s show, I am not talking about yesterday, I am talking about yesteryear. Join Me today to Discuss… The short version of The Fourth Turning High Awakening Unraveling Crisis I say it is much more simple, everything is just a cycle, shit happens and we deal with it my turnings are Knowing Forgetting Compensating Dick Punch The other cycle to consider here Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance Individuals move at their own speed in both cycles vs. society as a whole, we are all microcosms of the whole What was “normal” for me growing up Taking care of older neighbors Kids were highly independent by say 10-11 years old Kids had jobs, most people had side hustles Nothing useful was thrown away People knew how to fix things Staying away from large crowded places Hunting and foraging for food Gardening Cooking your own food Making your own things The weakness of high density cities and settlements Always “import” economies Always subject to shortage Never self sufficient Always parasitic Easy to scare, control, manipulate Small geographies that control large geographies and hence become resented then rebelled against Subject to mass epidemics/pandemics with little recourse Produce excessive waste Large exporters of pollution Entire economies are 90% or more service based, they produce little to nothing The true oldest story known to man, the plight of the hill people vs. the flat landers We won’t all return to this “old normal” but many were, this just accelerated it, as it has accelerated many things “Trends are never total” The songs of the past are always released as new cover version by new artists, everything is indeed a cycle   Resources for today’s show… Follow Life With Jack on Instagram TSP Facebook Group Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum TspAz.com Get the Book – The Fourth Turning Smoking in the Boys Room – Motley Crue   Sponsors of the Day Safecastle Royal The Berkey Guy   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.  Episode-2659- Insurance for your Home and Homestead | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:33:54

Michael Walsh is a long-time listener to the show and works as a farm insurance underwriter. He is not an agent and doesn’t have a policy to sell you. His goal today is to educate us on insurance for the home and homestead to make informed decisions.  He joins us today to discuss insurance for the home and homestead Essentially, many listeners to the show have designed a lifestyle in the gray areas. They kind-of farm; if they don’t it often looks like it. They probably run a business…. well maybe it’s just a hobby. Unfortunately, insurance is designed for black and white scenarios. I’d like to educate people on how to best cover those gray areas. Michael has experience with all types of insurance including life, health and disability and we discuss a bit of that.  However his real expertise and passion is property/casualty insurance. Insuring autos is simple, but properly insuring your home (especially a homestead) is unique so we take a deep dive into that today.  This is incredibly important as for most people it is their single largest at risk investment. Some topics we hit on today include… Homeowners vs Farmowners vs Commercial Policy The proper ways to insure your homestead tractor, livestock, feed, etc. Why your agent might not “get it” and how to deal with that Chargeable claims vs non-chargeable claims (which claims raise your rates) Extra/optional coverages to look up and which to avoid Do you have the right liability for what you’re doing   Finally I just want to point out that Michael is a salaried employee of an insurance company and he doesn’t have a particular company to recommend or anything to sell.  In fact in this interview he mentions one company only due to its association with the veteran community and never even says which company he works for.  This interview is a true community member just trying to help you understand how to mitigate the risks in your life.  Episode-2658- House Hunting in a Buyers Market | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:20:34

I am gonna say it isn’t really a true buyer’s market right now, not based on the prices I see.  It is much more so than it was 18 months ago but super great deals are not everywhere, YET. Yet?  Yes yet!  They are coming and I am going to discuss why the market is always good for smart buyers all the time anyway.  That said, trust me, the recovery no matter how good it is, if it is the best one we can hope for will take time.  During that time people will need to sell, not want to, need to. When you get people that need to sell, (some always do) along with reluctant buyers (like during a recession no matter the cause) you get deals!  Additionally I have had a ton of home buying questions lately, many by email but also a lot on social media.  We have not covered this topic for a while so lets do that today. Join Me Today to Discuss… Finance options FHA VA Conventional Hybrids like 80/20 Let me be clear, don’t ever do an ARM loan, EVER!!!!!! The 1% Effect selling formula (houses that get top dollar) Using the reverse 1% effect as a buyer Identify the homes that Show 1% worse then most homes in the price window Find homes that are on the market for more than 90 days Find empty homes (already bought another or a failed flip) Be a smart and savvy negotiator Finding a home HOAs are the devil List your wants and rank them from 1-5 1 – I have to have it 2 – I really want it and likely won’t be totally happy without it right away 3 – I really want it, I don’t want to give it up, but I can do without it for a time 4 – I would like it, but I can live without it 5 – It would be nice, but I won’t really factor it into my decision for the right property As you find homes that don’t have what you want, rank them from 1-5 as well on the permanence scale 5 – There is no way I can ever have it in this home 4 – It is possible but very expensive or very difficult to do 3 – I can have this for a reasonable cost, at some point in time down the road 2 – I can have this for a reasonable cost, relatively quickly 1 – I can have this with simple sweat equity, it will just take work Making your decision on which house to make an offer on Communication with buyers and doing the agents work for them, you likely have to, most are morons Spirko’s 6 Laws of Buying a property Rule One – Never overpay for a property Rule Two – Never get emotionally invested in a property Rule Three – Never overpay for a property Rule Four – Be willing to walk away from any deal Rule Five – Never overpay for a property Rule Six – Always buy with thoughts about an exit strategy There is no magic, but there is being smart and 1% smarter then average is enough on either side of the deal They key is a clear but reasonable vision of what a property can be, vs. what it currently is   Resources for today’s show… Follow Life With Jack on Instagram TSP Facebook Group Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com Carry on My Wayward Son – Anthrax Cover   Sponsors of the Day Butcher Box Backwoods Home   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.
