Now for this morning we come to John chapter 3, apologies to those of you who have come to visit us this morning, you’re getting in, as people often do, on part 3 of a discussion of John chapter 3, verses 11 to 21. You’re getting in on part 3, which means you’ve missed the first two parts. Although I’m greatly tempted to go back over all of that because I hate for anybody to miss anything, I’m going to restrain myself at this point and encourage you if you want to listen to those, they are available, gty.org, and you can download them there. But I do want to draw back to John chapter 3 and just remind you that this is really a remarkable moment in the life and ministry of Jesus...

Undermining the Headship of Christ (Selected Scriptures) | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: Unknown

We started a few weeks ago to think a little bit about the church. As I was mentioning in one of the services this morning, we have a lot of new people in our church. Austin asked a few Sunday nights ago when we were having a little discussion of folks who had come in the last few years. And we were amazed at how many people have come to our church in the last few years. And it seemed important to us to talk about the church so the people understand what a church should be. And, of course, there’s a lot of confusion out there about what a church really is...

Simply Believe (John 3:11-14) | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: Unknown

All right, let’s open the Word of God to the third chapter of the gospel of John, and we begin now to look at verses 11 to 21, really one of the most important portions of Scripture in all the Bible. I’m not going to be in any hurry to get through it, so we’ll spend a few weeks on this passage, and that works out well because it will be around the Shepherds’ Conference and it will be wonderful, at least for the folks who are for sure here next week to hear a little bit of our Lord’s teaching in this vital chapter...

How to Recognize a Real Church, Part 1-2 (Selected Scriptures) | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: Unknown

It was a couple of weeks ago that we did some question and answer sessions--I did with Austin Duncan and we talked about the church. We’ve had a lot of discussions about the church, what the church is and the life of the church through the years here at Grace Church. In fact, we go back to the very, very beginning, the first sermon I ever preached here on February 9th, 1969, my first Sunday, was addressed at who really belongs in the church? Who is really and genuinely and truly a part of the church? That’s where we started. And it has always been a very important part of the emphasis of all of our ministry and our teaching here to make sure that we understand the nature of the church and the function of the church, what the church is...

Twin Truths: God’s Sovereignty and Man’s Responsibility (John 3:11-21) | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: Unknown

This morning we’re going back to John chapter 3, so open your Bible, if you will, and come with me to the third chapter of John. We’re going to take a look, an initial look at this section, verses 11 to 21. And then I’m going to kind of digress a little bit because there’s something I have to tell you to set this entire passage in a proper context and to put it in your mind in a way that will be most helpful...
