AIE NEWS The forums were down, but are back up again! We know you all had a panic attack last Tuesday when the Frogpants forums went missing, but they are restored and more secure than ever. A security update took them down, but it wasn’t too long before our mods got them back up and running again! The vent password has been changed (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/48310-the-ventrilo-password-has-been-changed/)! Oh no! You can find the new vent information on UMAMI at umami.aie-universal.net (https://umami.aie-universal.net/). Just sign in and then look for the orange button with the link, Ventrilo Server Access. Don’t forget, if you’re a member of AIE, you already have an UMAMI account, so don’t make a new one to try and get the password, it doesn’t work that way. If you can’t remember your login, just click the “Forgot your password” link to request a password reset using the information you signed up with! I’ve heard from a couple of new members that they’re a little unsure of what to do in vent. While you can always use vent to communicate with your AIE raid team, you can also just drop in to any of the game-specific general chat rooms, like the Shady Tavern for you World of Warcraft players, where you can have a good time chatting and meeting new people while you do your dailies grind. CINDER KITTY!!! OMG OMG OMG SO CUTE!! The blizzard pet store is selling a new pet! The cinder kitten (http://us.blizzard.com/store/details.xml?id=1100002356)! While this seems like something I made up just so I can talk about pets (yay!), it’s actually for a good cause. Blizzard is giving 100 % of the proceeds from the sale of this pet to Superstorm Sandy relief! So get an omg so cute pet and help out the red cross! Mounts are also currently half price, but the sale from those aren’t helping the charity. Just a quick tease: Plans are already afoot for the AIE Guild Hall at Blizzcon 2013. This will be the largest Guild Hall event we’ve put on to date, and if you were there during Blizzcon 2011, or if you caught the live stream, you know how much fun that Guild Hall was. More news to follow in the coming months, including how you can help get involved, so stay tuned. Put your mark on the map! We saw a lot of community spirit on both the forums and on twitter MMO champion and wowpedia are virus ridden...at least according to google. The two sites where we get a ton of info have been flagged by the search engine. No word yet on why, or if this is another false positive so be aware and be careful. Considering making the jump to windows 8? We have a thread discussing it (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/47903-upgrading-to-windows-8-from-7worth-it-stay-away/) in the community forums. So far no one is reporting any major conflict with games, but we are still keeping our fingers crossed. If you would like to discuss the latest MS OS or if you would like to warn anyone about the problems you have experienced, head on over to the forums. NaNoWriMo is here! As you may be aware, we have quite a few amatauer and professional writers amongst the members of AIE. Many of whom partake in the National Novel Writing Month challenge every year. NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel through the month of November. It doesn’t have to be any good, it just has to be 50,000 words, and hopefully a lot of fun. The Frogpants group on LoseIt is a great place for all AIE/Frogpants members to work on their weight loss goals. Halloween events have seemed to start to spin up in a variety of games. It looks like, from a few forum posts thus far, we have Secret World (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/47748-aie-news-the-secret-world%E2%80%99s-halloween-event-is-now-live/), SW:TOR (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/47260-halloween-party-october-23rd/), and World of Warcraft firing up. We’re just going to bet that there will be celebrations across the game universe! (well, except maybe EVE? ;) ) Someone, perhaps after Alludra’s Heart, has proposed it might be a fun idea to have an AIE Pet Battle Tournament (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/47746-pet-battle-aie-tournament/)! Check out the forums and give your input to shape the event! Fall Craft Faire dates are looming closer and the forums are buzzing about it! Remember guys, we have an AIE town hall meeting coming up on the 26th of October! This is your chance to find out what the AIE gaming community is up to in various games, and other fun stuff; like what the officers have been doing and what we are planning for the future! RIFT’s 1.10 patch has been released! This pre-expansion patch revamped a lot of game play, including doing away with factions (well except for PVP!) so now Guardian races can join AIE! But that’s not all the patch has done, there are changes made to classes, professions, questing, zones - heck, you name it! Players who have let their accounts lapse can play for a free weekend coming up in November, so come and check it out!! Also, the officers of AIE RIFT are starting up some new events! Weeklies on Wednesday nights and Raiding Hammerknell Fortress on Mondays (with allies). The fun starts on both nights at 7pm server(PDT) And with that, let’s welcome Mantis/Grimbane(doesn’t matter) and Sindrake... GAME NEWS General Tons of changes and additions to the game since last time we were on.  There have been 3 content updates including new missions and game mechanics.  Character creation has been expanded with a ton of new hair and face options, and there is a barber and plastic surgeon available in game to change your appearance for a price.  Lairs have also been revamped, more on that later. Address concerns about poor sales/sub numbers.  Competition, TSW’s “poor first impression” (takes longer than it should to get into the lore and story, initially seems like it’s “just like WoW”).  Planned updates to the starting experience to help new players understand how the game works.

GAME NEWS Welcome, Machia to the SWTOR Officers!  Our condolences... Talk to Machia for a bit. What does he like about SWTOR. -it's Scifi -Legacy exp perks -all the different ablities like force leap, saber throw,force choke etc etc Lords of Light Operation Team(s) (that’s raiding for the non-SWTOR community) Lords of light is my ops group that runs on the Republic and Imperial side. We run on Sunday and Wednesday nights the Republic side we are doing Explosive Conflict 8 man hard mode. Once we have taken down Explosive conflict Hard Mode.  We will progress into Terror from Beyond Hard Mode. Imp side Lord of Lights is doing 8 man Story Mode Terror from Beyond. Once we have taken that down we will progress straight into Hard Mode Explosive Conflict We were at one time running just on the Republic side, but I want a way to make it where the op team did not get bored doing content over and over. plus it lets us help out on the Imp side if a ops team needs bodies. We also use TurnTable in all of our runs which helps to mix up the ops feel. Talk about AIE in SWTOR 2 Factions, both great.  Both provide AIE experiences in different ways. Empire - Larger group. Republic - Smaller, more intimate group Both are AIE-awesome! Patch 1.4 Terror from Beyond Terror from Beyond is the new operation dropped in patch 1.4. This storyline also ties into the Explosive conflict story line.

AIE World of Warcraft has finished their great 6 month purge and would like to remind all members that they will go back to their three month inactive policy in October. That means that all characters who are inactive for 3 months or longer will be removed. If you find yourself suddenly outside the guild upon log in, just hop into the aielfo channel and your friendly officers will be happy to get you back in! Blizzard also decided that guild rep was too difficult to earn and buffed it, so you can earn back rep much more quickly! An old thread which is still active from time to time, is the AIE Exercise Plan (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/35582-the-aie-exercise-plan/)! I recently started up trying to get off my rear end and be more active, so started posting things as well. Its been interesting to find out what is motivating folks and what they’re using as tools to get in shape! Taxillus Transtellar is planning a roam (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/47082-taxillus-transtellar-roam-friday-september-14th-900-pm-pacific/) Friday September 14th at 9pm Pacific time. They are asking all participants to bring a pvp micro warpdrive fitted frigate. They expect to die in fiery death explosions as Tuku and Lanctharus are leading this event. Speaking of EVE, Dust 514 (http://www.dust514.com/) in beta and free to play on the Playstation 3! This FPS takes place in the EVE universe, allowing players to earn ISK and take part in battles on planet surfaces. Unfortunately this is a playstation exclusive game, so you have to have the console to take part. There’s already some talk about it on the forums (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/46871-dust-514/). Rift is expecting it’s big 1.1 patch tomorrow! What’s that mean? Well it means factions are a thing of the past! Seriously! All races are now open to both factions! It is important to note that currently the AIE guild and UMAMI do not support Guardian characters, word on when and if AIE will be opening it’s doors cross faction will be coming soon on the forums. Storm legion, Rift’s first expansion, will be released November 13th! The basic edition is only $39.99 with a collectors edition only $59.99. If you are new to rift and are thinking of joining in on the fun with the expansion you can pick either edition for only 10 dollars more to get the base game and 30 days of game time! And remember, if you buy a year of rift up front, you can get the expansion for free! AIE NEWS Blizzard has been hacked! It’s not a major hack, but they are strongly suggesting that you change your password and update your phone’s authenticator software as soon as you can. Passwords and emails seem to be part of the compromised data, Blizzard has said our billing info is safe, as are physical authenticators. AIE world of warcraft’s 11th co guild is open for business (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/46603-alea-iacta-est-pondera-is-open-for-business/)! Thanks to our wonderful members and the projected influx of pandas, AIE warcraft needed another guild, bringing our total up to 11! The great purging will begin soon! Come the end of August, if you haven’t logged into your AIE warcraft toons in 5 months or more, they will be getting removed from the guild! To stay in all you have to do is log into your toons! Doesn’t have to be long, but it resets the ‘last time logged in’ counter. There’s a new TF2 mode, Mann vs. Machines (http://forum.myextralife.com/topic/46626-tf2-mann-vs-machine-starts-aug-15th/)! The war between Red and Blue has been suspended to take on an even greater enemy! This update includes new maps, modes, and of course the machines and their all new classes! These will invariably be added to the rotation on TFTuesdays and TFThursdays! As part of the new Stormlegion expansion, Trion has revealed the new mage soul! (A soul is kind of like a ‘spec’ in other games)! The Harbinger has been announced! This is a single target melee-range soul for all the mage-y folks out there. Speaking of the Summer of Love, those who attended the Remembrance Day ceremony in WoW will recall the excellent firework celebration headed up by Takemikazuch. Tak asked us to pass along his thanks to the people that contributed to the tribute, including the numerous guildies for their material contributions and wonderful comments and remarks; and to the four volunteers who took time out of their lives to help him fire them off: Kavaar, Rho, Corellon, and Kutasez [cut-a-says]! New GOTM:  Mobilehunter! Guildie Comment: I'd like to note Mobilehunter's generous donation of both her hearth cooldown and two chaos orbs I'd been carefully budgeting for.  My play time is limited and small things like this can go a very long way for a player like myself. Sometimes it only takes one action to really stand out! If you would like to nominate someone for GOTM send an email to the officers! In the meantime head on over to the forums and give a big congrats to Moblilehunter. This is a reminder to all returning members that they have a UMAMI account! Everyone that was in the guild before the move to UMAMI was set up with an account, so there is no need to make another one. Your username is based on one of your character names or your forum name. To find your username and/or reset your password, go to the password reset page (https://umami.aie-universal.net/accounts/password/reset/) using the e-mail address you used to apply to the guild originally. Making a new account just adds work for the officers and means you may be stuck at pleb status for a few months. AIE World of Warcraft’s great purge is beginning at the end of this month. In order to keep from running out of room, any characters that haven’t logged in for over 5 months will be removed from the guild. If you have an inactive character that you want to make sure stays in the guild, just log onto them at least once before the end of the month.  Starting in October, the World of Warcraft team will be going back to the old policy of removing all characters that have been inactive for 3 months or more. AIE’s GERP system has yielded our first settled and active new game: The Secret World! Join the Templars, Dragons or Illuminati as they battle among themselves, or perhaps unite for the greater good now and again! AIE has branched into all 3 factions, because fortunately, the chat channels are cross faction. If you are playing on Arcadia, do a /chat join AIE  and make sure to check the forum for more details! Plans for DragonCon are still underway! If you are going and haven’t already stopped by the forums and the meetup.com site, then you are going to miss out on some great AIE Meetups! Also, check the MMO track schedule for the Extreme Guild Management panel led by our own AIE officers, and be sure to attend the MMO Party Saturday night.
