Riordan goes to the Stockwell house and finds that Lieutenant Stockwell is not quite as eager as Ellen Stockwell to hire him to find their daughter.

Riordan goes to the Starbucks where Caroline worked in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco.

Riordan talks with Caroline Stockwell's shrink and her guru, looking for clues to her disappearance.

Riordan finally interviews Caroline's friend Monica Mapa and then checks out the girls' website with the help of Chris Duckworth.

Riordan tells Ellen Stockwell of Caroline's website, and when he tries to comfort her about its implications for her daugther's disappearance, they are seen embracing by the Lieutenant.

Riordan investigates a break-in and burglary at Victor Lane's house.

Riordan gets a visit from Ellen Stockwell, who explains that the situation with her daughter is not as good as she hoped. The next day, Riordan checks out the art college Caroline was attending.

Riordan visits the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to see George Wesson's exhibit, and later confronts Dr. Levin at his Pacific Heights home.

Riordan finds out the reason Caroline Stockwell tried to commit suicide when he visits her in the hospital.

Riordan goes to Monica Mapa's apartment after his gig at Bruno's supper club--and finds her dead.
