Jason Groupp has been a photographer in New York for over 20 years and I am a big fan of his work, his style, and his teaching techniques. We have had Jason on the podcast before talking about lighting and that turned out to be an extremely popular podcast. Recently, Jason has taken the position of Director for WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) which hosts a large conference in Las Vegas every winter. During this episode we talk about what WPPI is all about, who should go, and how to make the most out of an experience like this. As we start off the new year we are taking a short break from recording podcasts and are going to replay some of the favorites from the past. In this episode, Kerry and David sit down with Roberto Valenzuela from Beverly Hills, CA who is a remarkably skilled wedding photographer. I recently received a Lytro camera as a Christmas gift and have become rather impressed with the technology although the images are not quite professional grade images yet. (Read: My first impressions of the Lytro camera) To help explain what the Lytro camera is and how it works, we invited Eric Cheng, Director of Photography for Lytro to join us on the program. (Image shot by Thomas Hawk). Eric talks in detail about the history of light field photography and how they developed the technology for consumer use. It’s obvious Lytro has big plans in store for the technology and this podcast will give you some insight as to where this technology can take photography.
