SPI 084: 3 Secrets of Successful Selling – How to Turn Browsers into Buyers with Derek Halpern | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 55:36

In this session of The Smart Passive Income Podcast, we talk selling and turning browsers into buyers with my good friend, Derek Halpern from Social Triggers. Out of all of the other websites I've mentioned here on the blog and on the podcast, Derek's site is probably referenced the most, and that's because Derek always has information worth sharing. He definitely delivered in this episode as well. Derek was first featured on SPI back in June of 2011 when he and I recorded a video of him critiquing The Smart Passive Income Blog, giving us his thoughts on what I could do to improve the conversion rate of my email list sign-ups. At the time, it was one of the most popular blog posts on SPI. Three months later, I wrote a followup post after I implemented a lot of Derek's strategies to share the results of his advice—and yes, they worked. Like a charm. In this session, you're going to listen to us talk a little bit about how Derek got started online (which is a very interesting story Derek doesn't share very often), and then we get into 3 secrets that will change and shape how you approach selling to your audience. He even shares a marketing strategy with us that he's never shared on any other website before, including his own. More specifically, in this session you’ll find out about: How Derek got started online (with a celebrity gossip website, of all things!) - and why he's more happy doing what he's doing now instead. Positioning and why Derek created SocialTriggers.com. The one thing online marketers do that makes them doomed to fail when it comes to selling anything online. Derek's thoughts on my recent launch of Breakthrough Blogging. The mindset that Derek has when he sells anything, and why it makes complete sense. The "Bonus Sandwich" and how it can drastically increase your bottom line, and get people to buy who wouldn't even consider buying from you in the first place, and make your buyers love you even more.  SPI 082: Getting Paid Before Building the Solution – From Research to Validation to Profit – A Listener Success Story | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:04

In this session of The Smart Passive Income Podcast, I'm really excited to feature the details of a success story from a listener who decided to take action after listening to one particular episode of the SPI Podcast - and it was this action that helped him discover a new path in his life, quit his comfortable corporate job and go full time with his online business. The crazy part is that in our chat together, he shares every single step he took along the way to help him build his online business - from how he "idea hunted", to validation tests of those ideas and how he was able to get paying customers for his product even before it was created. Carl Mattiola of Clinic Metrics joins us today, and not only does he share exactly what he did to build a business and get paying customers before he left his corporate job, but he also shares exactly how he felt along the way - and you'll see that like most entrepreneurs, it was not an easy overnight success. Carl shares a lot of the fears he had and other entrepreneurial roadblocks and barriers that he had to break through in order to succeed, and if this episode doesn't get you to take action, I seriously don't know what will. More specifically, in this session you’ll find out about: How Carl discovered  a market to create a solution for. The criteria that Carl used to "green light" further research on niches that he selected. A "play-by-play" account of exactly what Carl did to get ideas for his new business. The first steps that Carl took, which was related to "getting over it". The exact script and questions Carl used to validate his idea. How Carl got paying customers even before he started building his software solution. What the transition was like from corporate world to entrepreneur, including all of the fears and roadblocks along the way. Plus much more! The SPI Podcast just surpassed 1000 5-star reviews, and I couldn't be more humbled and thankful for  you! The success of the SPI podcast would not happen without you, so instead of asking you to do anything this time, I just wanted to express my gratitude. You. Are. Amazing! Thank you! I hope you enjoyed this session, and hint: make sure you listen all the way through... Please let me know what you think in the comment section below. Cheers!  SPI 080: Your Habits and Unlocking the Human Potential (with Lift Co-Founder, Tony Stubblebine) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 42:30

In this session of The Smart Passive Income Podcast, I'm very happy to welcome Tony Stubblebine, co-founder of Lift - an iPhone and web application that was first mentioned here on SPI by Tim Ferriss in Episode 51, and a tool that I've since been using every day to help me create and stick with habits that improve my business, my health and my life. Lift is an amazing tool because not only am I able to keep track of things and "check-in" to habits that I want to do on a daily basis (such as read, run, do push-ups or make sure I do one random act of kindness each day) but it takes advantage of the power of community to hold me accountable, keep me motivated and help me help others as well. Lift is 100% free (check it out here), and like I said, I've been enjoying using it every single day. Tony and I talk not only about how he formed his company, but how habits play a role in our lives and what we can learn from what he's observed from people using the app, and things we as entrepreneurs can do to improve. More specifically, in this session you’ll find out about: Exactly how and why Lift was created. The habits that are listed in my Lift app and how they apply to business. The mindset and habits of successful (and balanced!) entrepreneurs. Why Lift has the longest update-notes when new updates come out on the iPhone. The science of behavior, "negative" consequences and positive reinforcement. Insights from those who use Lift, and why meditation is a prevalent in the lives of many successful entrepreneurs. Tony's mind-trick script for politely hanging up on a telemarketer, and why it's important for what happens next. The competitive advantage of bootstrapping. Plus much more!
