GLMX #69: Just Jesus: Get to Know the Saviour This Christmas Through the Powerful Testimony of Others | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1122

The Angel said in Matthew 1:21, "And she [Mary] shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins." If you don't know who Jesus Christ is, allow me to introduce you to Him from the powerful testimonies of others: Philip Schaff: "Jesus of Nazareth, without money and arms, conquered more millions than Alexander the Great, Caesar, Mohammed, and Napoleon; without science and learning, He shed more light on things human and divine than all philosophers and scholars combined; without the eloquence of school, He spoke such words of life as were never spoken before or since, and produced effects which lie beyond the reach of orator or poet; without writing a single line, He set more pens in motion, and furnished themes for more sermons, orations, discussions, learned volumes, works of art, and songs of praise than the whole army of great men of ancient and modern times." Kenneth Scott Latourette: "As the centuries pass, the evidence is accumulating that, measured by His effect on history, Jesus is the most influential life ever lived on this planet." Henry Ward Beecher: "Jesus painted no pictures. Yet some of the greatest paintings of Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci received their inspiration from Him. Jesus wrote no poetry; but Dante, Milton, and scores of the world's greatest poets were inspired by Him. Jesus composed no music; but Haydn, Handel, Beethoven, and Bach reached their highest perfection in the symphonies and oratorios they composed in His praise. Every sphere of human greatness has been influenced by this humble carpenter of Nazareth!" Napoleon Bonaparte: I know men; and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between Him and every person in the world there is no possible term of comparison. Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for him. Charles H. Spurgeon: "I have a great need for Christ; I have a great Christ for my need." + Plus, listen to The Sensational Nightingales singing "What A Friend We Have in Jesus"

GLMX #68: Christmas Has No Meaning Outside Of Jesus Christ | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 885

For many of us, Christmas is one of our favorite times of the year. It is nice to get a break from our normal routines and to spend time with our family and friends. Many families have special Christmas customs and traditions, involving decorations, meals, songs, and the exchanging of gifts with loved ones. All of these things are very nice, but is this the true meaning of Christmas? It seems that every year the stores put up their Christmas displays earlier and earlier, and that each year there is increasing pressure to buy more and more expensive gifts. There also seems to be a competition to see who can put up the largest and most elaborate display of decorations. With all of these things, it is very easy to lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas. But as we strip away the layers of glitter, commercialism, and tradition that surround the celebration of Christmas, the holiday's true meaning becomes easier to see. Here we can see a star that reminds us of the star that the wise men followed two thousand years ago while seeking the newborn King. Who is this King? As the angels said to the shepherds in Luke 2:11, "Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord". Christmas is the day that we celebrate the birth of the Christ—Jesus the Son of God. + Plus, listen to Keith & Kristyn Getty singing "What Child is This?"

GLMX #67: "Peace on Earth and Goodwill Towards Men" -- What it Really Means | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 765

Luke 2:14 reads, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Peace on earth? It doesn’t look like it. The world is full of conflict. Since the angels’ announcement we have seen an endless string of wars. The peace announced by the angels and brought by Jesus was very different than the end of war itself because fighting and war has gone on since the time of Jesus. Jesus brought peace between us and God. We are by nature opposed to God and cannot find the way back to God by ourselves. Without God we are doomed to a life of conflict and distress. But God sent His Son Jesus to make a way of return – to bring peace. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace because He brings peace to all who come to Him. Isaiah 9:6 says, His name shall be called...the Prince of Peace. God’s justice requires that satisfaction be made for the sins of rebellious people. This Jesus did by His death on the cross. Colossians 1:20-21 states, "And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled..." When a person believes and accepts this sacrifice, God forgives his sins and makes peace with him. Romans 5:1 says, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ..." When a person finds peace with God, war, illness and other distress will become merely a surface disturbance on a deep, calm sea. Isaiah 26:3 says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee." Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Real peace is found only in Jesus. If you would like this peace, come to Jesus with sorrow for your sin and He will give you peace. If you will believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you, was buried, and rose again, please pray this prayer with all of your heart: Jesus, I am sorry for my sin and come to You for forgiveness and peace. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Make me into the person You want me to be. Amen. Congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! Remember, friend, Believe by faith. Share the faith. and Keep the faith!

GLMX #65: Why Jesus Christ is the Real Reason for the Season | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1095

Children and retailers love it. Parents spend months paying for it! Still, when it's all said and done—and paid for!—Christmas means family, friends, gifts, and lasting memories. Ever wonder what Christmas means to God? After all, it began as the celebration of His Son’s birth. The Christ Child is more than just a convenient backdrop for holiday festivities. In fact, Jesus Christ came to earth on a mission. His birth set in motion a plan that eventually led Him to die...for all of us. The real meaning is not wrapped up in the Baby in a manger, but in what His birth, life, death, and resurrection accomplished. + Plus, listen to Tobymac and Jamie Grace singing "Mary's Boy Child"

GLMX #64: Why Millions Still Celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 868

Two thousand years ago, a baby was born in a stable. The stable was in a small town that was part of a defeated nation occupied by the Romans. The nation was Israel, the town was Bethlehem, and the baby’s name was Jesus. Over two thousand years later, people all over the world still celebrate His birth… but why? The Bible tells us that Jesus was not an ordinary baby. In fact, this baby was the God of the universe clothed in human flesh. That’s right. Jesus is actually God, in human flesh, who came to this earth because mankind had been separated from Him by their sin. Jesus became a man so that He could reunite mankind with God. + Plus, listen to MercyMe singing "O Holy Night"
