Which Character Dining spot is the best at Walt Disney World? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 42:37

Mouse Chat Disney Radio - Character Dining at Walt Disney World If you are planning a vacation to Walt Disney World, you are going to want to make reservations for at least one Character Meal.  There are many to choose from and depending on your Disney Resort and Park Plans it can make planning even more challenging.  First, look at your Disney Resort and what they offer.  If you are at the Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Beach Club or Yacht Club resort you have an option that is right there.  If you are at another Disney Resort you have to walk, drive, boat, bus, or get a taxi to that resort to make your reservation.  So again, planning is key and knowing your transportation options is very important as well. Now you can start your day at a Disney Resort for a Character Breakfast or end your day with a Character Dinner at most locations.  You can also book a character meal at one of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks, and we cover this in this weeks podcast too. Which Character Meal is the best Value? What characters are at each location? Which Character meal has the best breakfast food and Dinner food? We each have our opinions and that's what this weeks Mouse Chat radio show is about. Download the show on iTunes or you can listen to it hear at the top of this page.  Tips for Disney’s new Fastpass+ ride wait time system | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:49

Mouse Chat Disney Radio - Disney FastPass+ Avoid Ride Wait Times Disney World has a new ride wait time system.  Gone is FastPass and it has been replaced by FastPass+.  If you are planning a Walt Disney World Vacation there are several big changes that you need to be aware. First if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort you get to make advance reservations for your rides and attractions.  So the sooner you book your Disney World trip you can then sign up for My Disney Experience and start making your ride reservations.  If you are not staying on Disney property you can still get FastPass+ times, but only on the day you arrive at the park.  So no advance reservations.  The kiosks are located at several spots in the Disney parks (In testing as of this article).  Currently the lines at these FastPass+ kiosks are extremely long. The new system is not a quick, enter your ticket and get a print out for when to return.  The new FastPass+ kiosk lets you select up to 3 rides / attractions for that day.  So guests take a long time trying to see what's left and what times are available. There are also several rides that are "E Ticket" rides.  These rides and attractions you can only pick one of.  So you can't for example pick Rockin Roller Coaster, AND Toy Story Midway Mania.  You can only get a fastpass+ reservation for one.  So how it works is you get to select just one top tier ride, and then two A-D ticket class rides. Also if you purchased the Disney Park Hopper option on your Disney Park Tickets, you don't get FastPass+ reservations for more than one park. So before you buy a park hopper ticket make sure you plan your day.  Because currently you could hop to anther park and get there with no fastpasses and massive wait times.  So your park hopper ticket value is diminished.  Of course you can park hop to get dinner over at EPCOT, or start your day at the Magic Kingdom with no fastpasses in hand and then park hop to other park in the afternoon that you have made your FastPass+ reservations for. Also New - You can book Be Our Guest Dining for lunch in advance.  You can even pick your lunch items. Yes it can be confusing, and hard to make sure you have your magic bands and FastPass+ reservations linked with everyone in your party.  I would highly recommend using an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner to make all this extra work much easier.  You can contact our friends at Pixie Vacations. (www.PixieVacations.com) Best of all they are free to use. they don't charge a fee or add something into your vacation cost.  It is truly free to use them when you book your Disney vacation with them and they will hold your hand every step of the way.  Will I Fit on that ride? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 31:26

Mouse Chat Disney Radio - A Disney Radio Show by Disney Fans for Fans Will I fit?  There are some rides that if you are tall or a larger person you may not fit on some rides and attractions at Orlando parks. We explore things like Richard Petty Driving Experience, Rides and attractions at Walt Disney World and at Universal Studios, as well as Legoland in FL. Disney really tries to accommodate as many people as they can.  Universal has some rides that you just will not be able to fit on the ride or the safety restraint will not lock and you will not be allowed to ride. You also need to look at the mix of rides and attractions at these theme parks.  Universal Studios and parks like Six Flags trying to have the latest extreme roller coasters which require safety restraints and tight seats to keep passengers in the ride. Dark rides and many of the attractions at Disney World and Disneyland are easier for taller or wider people to access. FYI: The show has an audio clipping issue with Lisa's mic.  I thought about dumping the show, but wanted to keep it because the content is something people need to know before heading to a Florida Theme Park.  Disney Vacation Cancellation Policies | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:25

Mouse Chat Disney Radio - Disney Cancellation Policies You are ready to go on your Disney World Vacation but what if something comes up and you have to cancel? This week we discuss Disney cancellation policies for Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line. So not the most exciting topic but Travel Insurance and Disney's policies are the main topics for this show.  We will try our best to keep this light, but it's going to be hard. Travel TIP - If you are going to Walt Disney World you can move your trip most of the time if something comes up. So instead of cancelling your Disney World Vacation if something comes up, plan ahead and move your vacation. Travel TIP - Look at other insurance options, not just the insurance offered as part of your Disney Vacation package. Contact your travel agent about what insurance is available to purchase for your trip. Travel Insurance Always call and check directly with your insurance company to make sure your specific insurance questions are answered. FYI: If you buy your flight through Disney Cruise Line they will make sure you get on that ship. It might not be at the first US Port but they will get you to one of the ports to get you on that ship if your flight was delayed not to your fault and did not make it to the ship for departure. You can also buy Travel insurance that covers cancellation for any reason. Most policies do not have this, so check your travel insurance policy to understand what it covers. Disney World Room Only Reservations: If you have to cancel you will get your money back if you are 5 days out from travel. Under 5 days you will lose the first days deposit. Remember you can also move your trip. Disney World Vacation Policies: Final Payment is due 45 days prior to arrival. Disney Cruise Line Policies: Final Payment is due 75 days prior to arrival. Final Payment is due 45 days prior to arrival.   Media Contact: Steve Griswold Mouse Chat 678-815-1584 Email: Steve@MouseChat.net   Twitter: @MouseChat Mouse Chat on Facebook Join in and make new friends, ask and get answers to your Disney Vacation Questions, post Disney Park photos, and just say Hi.  Disney Cruise Line Magic what you need to know | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:25

Mouse Chat Disney Radio - A Disney Radio Show by Disney Fans for Fans Disney Cruise Line has remodeled the Disney Magic.  We had three rooms on a holiday sailing to review and experience everything. Quick Check List of what's new on the Disney Magic: The lobby, shops, night clubs, dining, and kids clubs have all been updated. Also the main pool deck kids areas has been redone and a new thrill ride "The Aqua Dunk" drop slide has been added. The guest area with the photos has been redone also. What has not been updated: The guest rooms, the adult pool area, the Walt Disney and Lake Buena Vista theaters, the promenade lounge.  The internet access area. So the lobby is nice.  It has one staircase, new carpeting, and a new chandelier. Now we also went on the Disney Wonder, the sister ship 3 weeks before on a 7 night cruise.  So if you look at both lobbies, I think they booth look great and grand.  It could have stayed the same and I think guests would have liked the lobby as it was originally designed. The new chandelier is much simpler in design.     One of the best things about taking a Disney Cruise during Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas (Oct - Dec 31) is that you get to get into the holiday spirit.  I would say more some for Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Because the ships and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, is all decked out for the holidays. Now the clubs have all been updated too on the Disney Magic. If you have been on the ship or the Wonder before, you remember the Route 66, Pleasure Island style themeing.  Each club had a distinctive theme with extreme details.  The clubs are still all there and have been renamed, but the themeing I personally was not fond of.  Don't get me wrong, the clubs are very nice, clean, open and offer a place to see shows, etc.  But they are not emersive like they use to be.  They are now modern, and clean.  The detail to story and theme I think is missing.  But it does not mean the new clubs are not enjoyable.  I just personally prefer the clubs on the Disney Fantasy, and Dream and the old clubs better. Here are some of the new clubs: This is the old Wave Bands.  It's blue and clean now.  Gone are the record player dance floor, radio station towers and music memorabilia. The new "D" lounge is a family entertainment area.  It's clean and open so more people can join in, but gone is the fun super star, red carpet, movie star theme. The new animators palette has updated screens and a new show.  It is very similar to the old original show.   I don't think it's as innovative as the show on the Disney Fantasy where you can draw your own character and have it show up in Disney film shorts during your dining experience.  But the show is fun and entertaining and the kids loved it.  Not a make or break for your Disney cruise experience but it is nice to see the show advanced a little bit.  I would have liked to have seen more, like the Disney Fantasy show or even a step future.  One great thing with Disney Cruise Line is the rotational dining.  So each night you get to dine in a new dining room AND keep your same wait staff, they rotate with you.  So you rotate between the four theme restaurants and that I love. New screens, chairs, and some lighting updates as well as a new show at Animators Palette on the Disney Magic. The nicest updates on the Disney Magic Cruise Line is the deck 9 recreational area updates to the splash areas, kids pool, and slides. The Aqua Dunk is a must do and it's a tad intimidating when you first walk up the steps to the top.  But if you love thrill rides this one is not to be missed.  We all did they Aqua Dunk several times so be sure to listen to our full review as well as the rest of the Disney magic ship review on this weeks Mouse Chat Podcast. A very cool slide!  The Aqua Dunk is thrilling and something everyone will talk about years later.

The Walt Disney Birthplace, is restoring Walt’s home | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:04

Mouse Chat Disney Radio - A Disney Radio Show by Disney Fans for Fans Our friends Brent and Dina are here this week with some amazing news.  They purchased Walt Disney's Home in Chicago IL.  This is the home that Walt Disney and Roy Disney were born in.  On a late night Zillow search Brent came across the house and was surprised to learn that it was not a historic landmark filled with the history of the Disney family.  After some negotiations Brent and Dina purchased the house, now a two family duplex, so that they can restore it to it's original 1901 condition. Brent and Dina are no strangers to the Amusement Industry.  They own Super78 a company that does creative for large scale amusement projects like Sponge Bob 4D.  But the Walt Disney House is not going to be turned into a park like attraction with a dark ride.  It will be a historic museum with a twist.  Using their creative background and the latest technology you might be able to relive the house exactly as it was when Disney himself lived there, with all the sights and sounds or the era.  So we are sure the home will have some magical surprises. The home is in a residential community in Chicago and to make sure everyone can experience the restoration project and the final restored home, Brent and Dina are putting a great deal of effort into an online Disney museum of sorts.  The Walt Disney Birthplace website will house virtual walk thoughts, videos, discovery and much more to come.  Brent and Dina are working with the community and even the local school to make the house a place to inspire kids of all ages with what one man, well two men did, Walt and Roy Disney. To take on such a monumental effort and to do it the right way does require funding and Brent and Dina are working on that too.  You can help in the restoration and discovery process along with them at their KickStarter Page.  If you are not familiar with KickStater, it is a site that allows fans, friends and supports to get involved and make a donation to help projects like this become reality.  Brent and Dina have created some amazing pieces of artwork, and awards for those that help in the effort.  There is even a Walt Disney World Vacation courtesy of Pixie Vacations that you could win for your family. When will the Walt Disney Birthplace open to the public? Well the grand Opening is tentatively set for Dec 5, 2014,Walt Disney's Birthday, but as the project progresses we will be sure to keep everyone updated here. If you worked at Walt Disney World… | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:25

Mouse Chat Disney Radio - A Disney Radio Show by Disney Fans for Fans A listener wrote in and asked "If you were an imagineer at Disney and could change anything at Walt Disney World what would you change or add?" So we got out our paper and pens and came up with out top 5 things we would like to see at Walt Disney World. I don't want to give away what updates and new things we dreamed up, you will have to listen to this weeks show. Also Lisa for some reason believes that I came up with a list of 12 things that Disney should change at the Magic Kingdom.  I for some reason have no memory of writing such a list. Can you guess what things each of us came up with for changes at Walt Disney World?  If you listen often you probably can.  Please post what you would like to see different at Walt Disney World.  Epcot holidays around the world | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 47:53

Mouse Chat Disney Radio - A Disney Radio Show by Disney Fans for Fans It's the perfect time of year to head down to Walt Disney World and we are just back from a holiday trip to the World.   Epcot's Holidays Around the  World This Year at Epcot's Holidays Around the  World they have the Christmas Shows, decorations, story tellers, etc., and this year each country has holiday treats.  So you can eat around the holidays.  Each booth has a few fun holiday inspired food item.  They even have a turkey waffle.  You can also get a holiday around the world Epcot passport for free and get them stamped.  Coming up next is Epcot's International Flower and Garden Festival.  There are even new toys and merchandise out for the holidays.  You can even get a Duffy the bear in a "mini" size and dress him up.  Hmmm. Disney Cruise Line Special Off Disney Cruise Line has put out some great special rates stating at $130 per person per night, double occupancy. To get a Disney Cruise quick quote please visit our Sponsor Pixie Vacations. What a great way to get out of the cold and enjoy the Bahamas.  We also went on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder over the last couple of weeks and enjoyed the holidays.  We have a Mouse Chat show coming up all about the new Disney Magic Cruise Ship, Aqua Dunk, and all of the updates as well as tips for cruising over the holidays. Mine Train Roller coaster at the Magic Kingdom We got a text from listener about when the Fantasyland Mine Train could open.  So this has us wondering when you think Disney will open the Mine Train attraction.  Do you think they will hold the opening to be close to the Universal Studios Harry Potter phase 2 opening?  Originally everyone thought the Mine Train would be open this Fall, but construction seems to have slowed so maybe Disney is holding back the opening. Beach Club, Beaches and Cream - Rumor is that Dec 18, you will need an advanced reservations to dine here. Disney Magic bands now on Disney Cruise Line Disney Cruise Line now has the Magic Bands used at Walt Disney World.  The bands come in yellow and are used at the Disney Cruise Line kids club on the updated Disney Magic ship.  The bands are required for your kids to enter the kids club on the ship.  The bands are required so the staff knows who is in the club and where they are located in the club.  They are $12.95, and these bands are charged to your room account, unless you return them for a refund. Disney Cruise TIP: get a receipt from the kids club when you return your magic band, we returned ours and still were charged the $12.95 and had to present proof at the front desk to get the charge removed.  Also the stateroom doors have been updated with RFID so you tap your room key (card) to open your door on the Disney Magic Cruise Ship. Mice Chat released an article about My Magic Plus Mice Chat, not us, released an article about the cost of My Magic Plus causing many future Disney projects being cancelled, or being put on hold. We do not know if the article is true or not.  A Disney Imagineer responded to the article via a tweet saying 90% of the article is not true.  It's an interesting argument that the cost for My Magic Plus could be hindering other Disney projects, but to date we have not seen any statements other than the brief tweet from Disney. Don’t Miss This Years Top 5 Disney World Christmas Events | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:18

Mouse Chat Disney Radio - A Disney Radio Show by Disney Fans for Fans It's Christmas Time and time for the Holidays at Walt Disney World. We headed down to Walt Disney World to see everything that is new for this years holiday season and these are our TOP 5 Disney Christmas that should be on your holiday bucket list. Disney World Christmas Must Do - Disney Osborne Lights You must spend one night at Disney Hollywood Studios ans see the Osborne lights. The lights dance to music and there is snow, yes snow. And this year the glow with the show ears will work with the Osborne Lights. There is a rumor that this might be the last year for the Osborne Lights at Disney Hollywood Studios because of an expansion. But that's just a rumor. This is really a great deal of fun and perfect way to start off your Disney holiday. Disney Osborne Lights quick 2014 Video: Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party This extra special event Disney Party is well worth the price. The Christmas party starts in early November and runs almost all the way up until Christmas. The party is from 7 PM - midnight on select nights and Disney does it up right. You can actually enter the Magic Kingdom at 4 PM with your Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party ticket. Stroll down Main Street USA as it snows. I have to say the first time my 3 year old saw snow coming down they were so excited. And all of Main Street is decorated for Christmas. There are loads of perfect family photo spots and the castle is decorated in an amazing amount of icicle lights. The Christmas parade and Christmas Wishes Fireworks are not to be missed. These are worth the price of admission on their own. When we attend the Christmas Party we will spend the day at our Disney resort pool and take it easy and then make our way over to the Magic Kingdom to enter at 4 PM. Castle Dream Lights The castle at the Magic Kingdom is a must have photo for your family photo album. It is stunning all lite up in icicle lights. Also be sure to see the castle lighting each night. EPCOT Candle Light Professional The show is The Christmas Story with a mass quire and 50 piece orchestra. There are celebrity narrators and certain ones draw a big crowd early. This is a tradition for many families so you need to get in line early. The show is included in your EPCOT ticket admission. We suggest getting in line at LEAST an hour before the show. The closer you are to Christmas the longer the lines too. You can get reserved seating by purchasing a Dinner Package. There are several dining packages available and that way you can enjoy a nice meal and then walk over to the stage to the reserved seating area. You can contact Pixie Vacations about candle light professional dinner packages.
