Good morning/afternoon/evening, Freaks!  I hope this finds you well, happy, and moving through your week with a steady - but boompty - rhythm.  For this week's #Freakcast I have something a little special for you, and I'm hoping you dig it... matter of fact, just go ahead and press 'play' on that player now... I'll wait... First, please allow me to apologize for not posting a Freakcast in over a month... I swear I have a great excuse - it's called "Tour du Freak". Freaks, for the last month I bounced across the US playing some great nights/days, meeting incredibly nice people, eating some of the most amazing food, and spending much-needed quality time with Family & solid friends. It was GOLD.  I was moved beyond words at all the kindness shown me from both family and total strangers alike ... seriously ... you can't tell me the worldwide House Music community doesn't bring good people together.  But if you need proof on just how great our community is, click on the pic to the right and head over to the Tour album on my FB page.  You'll see the love... you can't miss it.  OR you can peep the video montage and get the full lot in one go! Things I loved about the 'Tour du Freak':- The majority of my gigs were on turntables.  I LOVE that shit- Kicking off my tour in Portland, with my son and super close family- Spending a week with my House family and the Portland House community, in one of the most beautiful states I know of- Meeting so many new people who were kind, funny, warm, and welcoming- Spending 4 glorious days in Cali with my best friends (Shara, Devi, Adreaune I'm talkin' to you!)- All the different 'trees' I discovered- Texas ...- New friendships with all the people I was finally able to put faces and hugs to- The 'Magic Sticks' ... you might know them as vaps, and I am completely fascinated- Chicago - everything, everyone, all of it  Super thanks for all your support, Freaks ... Hello Freaks! Once again, all good things have come to an end ... Last night was our last show on Chicago House FM, and I made sure BCH went out with bang with our two guests DJ Lyssa & Brad Elliott.  Both gave us incredible mixes that had our blown up chat room bouncing for a full two hours, with our 3rd hour taken over by yours truly for one last spin around the floor ... But first, here's a little something on our guests: DJ Lyssa hails from Vancouver, BC, and comes packed with a punch. Her sets range from neck-snappers to soulful breakers, heavily laced with quirky latin, funk, and rhythmic hip-hop percussions, and bouncing through various genres of all things House.  When she's not playing out around Vancouver at various events, festivals, and club nights, you'll find this incredibly talented woman holding down her other love: creating custom clothing designs for people of all walks of life through her company, Lyssa's Stitchery.  I highly recommend you blow this womans Soundcloud page up, and stay up-to-date with her music.  I feel honored that she found Brick City House and myself, and can personally guarantee that you'll be hearing more from her in the near future! Hailing from Portland, Ore, Brad Elliott (aka DJ Tilt) has been a fixture in music since discovering his natural musical ability as a singer and musician. With a background in Jazz, Soul, and Gospel, and a degree in Music Theory, Brad spent the better part of the late 80's and 90's touring with jazz bands, and singing onstage with various bands around the Portland area. When he dropped his first needle on the record in 2011, Brad knew he'd found his way home to House. He hasn't looked back since then, and we're the lucky ones for it!  I have no doubt you're going to enjoy this mix from Tilt, and encourage you to dance your way towards his sound and keep your ears out for more! Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Brick City House for the past 4 1/2 years on Chfm. We'll be back in a few weeks on our new home (that we're still yet to decide on), and promise to bring the boogie as consistently as the BCH residents and myself have been known for doing in the last few years we've all spent together. Hello Freaks!  Last week's show was the most emotional show EVER on BCH ... and we have the wonderfully taleneted Ms. Lady D. (Chicago, Il) to thank for it.  The first half of her mix was an incredibly moving tribute to Romanthony; an iconic house figure that had an impact on Chicago's scene.  The tunes she played were some of the underground warehouse and rave scene favorites from the 90's, that had enough weight in their own to carry to the present; sounding as fresh as the day they were pressed.  It had me in tears and most of the chat room choked-up ... Like I said, this was the most emotional show of BCH to date, and one which I've played a few more times since. The tears still come, but like Lady D said, instead of mourning why not celebrate Romanthony's incredible gift he left us all. Lady D; funny, outgoing, an incredible DJ with an impeccable gift for arrangement, one of the few DJs that I know of that plays in key, and who gets me up no matter what mood I'm in.  She's also one of the most real people I've ever met.  Look out for her and the SuperJane Collective, who are gearing up for their reunion tour celebrating 16 years of beautiful music this summer starting at Smartbar June 7th - it's a not-to-miss event!!  We can't wait to have this lady back!
