This week, I start off the show by discussing whether the Wii Fit can actually get you fit. The Wii Fit is an exercise video game made by Nintendo for the Wii console. I go over what the Wii fit entails: the equipment used, what is measured and the exercise options available. Then I delve into the advantages and disadvantages of this game by referencing a review done by CNET on the Wii Fit. Next, I move on to talking about the importance of eating breakfast.  Since you are busy, I give you six tips to make your mornings easier, so that you are able to include breakfast in your morning routine. I end the show with a comment from Dave and a mention of my guest post on Mark Salinas’ Healthy Living Today website.

This week, I start off the show by discussing what your best drink option is at your local coffee shop. I go over the advantages and disadvantages of lattes, mochas, drip coffees and teas. I go over the calorie content of each drink and why some drinks might be better for you then others.  Some references that I used are calorie-count.com and web.md. I start the show with a positive news update. In California, they are thinking of passing a bill restricting Bisphenol A in all products geared for children three years and younger. Also, Wal-Mart and Toys R Us announced that they will stop selling baby bottles made with Bisphenol A by next year. Check out the montereyherald.com article for more details about the passing of this bill. Then I head into the meat of the show. I discuss which sweetener is the healthiest to use. I go over the advantages and disadvantages of Equal, Splenda, Sweet N Low, pure cane sugar, turbinado sugar and honey. I end the show by addressing some questions asked by Beth from New York, related to stretching and headaches.

This week I start the show by discussing how exercise can have a positive effect on your mood. I talk about how neurotransmitters released in exercise can give us a sense of psychological well being. Exercise has been shown to combat depression, anxiety and insomnia. I mention some research findings that I found at www.balancelivingmag.com. Next, I move on to talking about the negative effects of consuming too much salt in your diet.  I also give a few tips on how you can decrease the amount of sodium in your food. I reference an article from www.mayoclinic.com. I end the show by discussing how the coffee french press can actually raise your bad cholesterol (LDL) and how a drip coffee maker might be the better choice for your health. I reference an article from www.lime.com.

As promised on show #5, I start this week’s show discussing some abdominal exercises that you can do in the comfort of your own home.  I look at the traditional crunch, the bicycle crunch and the abdominal crunch on the exercise ball. Then I head into the meat of the show by talking about whether sunscreens actually protect us from harmful UV radiation. I reference articles from Wikipedia, Environmental Working Group and lawsuitsearch.com. After that I go into discussing the importance of food journals for individuals looking to lose weight and/or incorporate healthier eating habits.  Food journals are tools that help you make a habit of thinking about what you eat before you eat it. I end the show by discussing how smoking adversely affects your health.  To illustrate my point, I mention some smoking statistics that I found on hubpages.com and quitsmoking.com.

I start the show by giving you an update on trans fatty acids. On July 26, 2008 California became the first state to ban trans fats in restaurant. For more information, be sure to check out the nytimes.com. Then I head into the meat of the show and discuss a new popular fad diet, called the Flat Belly Diet. This diet was created by the editors of Prevention Magazine. I cover an article from medicine.net that discusses the advantages and disadvantages of this diet. Finally, I end the show by analyzing an article from webmd.com that looks at ways to lose belly fat.

This week I talk about how to be more active while at home, work or on vacation. I discuss ways to incorporate exercise into your daily routine without every having to step into the gym. In the second portion, I discuss the effectiveness of diet pills.  I reference an article from msnbc.com that covers diet pills.

In this week’s show, I concentrate on the topic of stress, especially related to work and being in debt. I start off discussing what stress is and how it can be damaging to our bodies. I reference an article from the American Institute of Stress when talking about this topic. Then I jump into my next topic related to stress, which is how to manage stress on the job. I look at an article from helpguide.org about stress management. Finally, I conclude the show by looking at an article from msnbc.com related to how debt stress can affect your health. I recommend people who have debt listen to another great podcast called Millionaire or Bust to help them find ways to decrease or get rid of their debt, because no debt is synonymous with less stress and better health.

In this week’s main topic I look at partially hydrogenated oils, also known as trans fats. I discuss why they are bad for you and what food products to stay away from.  I look at two articles related to this topic, one from webmd.com and the other from recoverymedicine.com . After that, I discuss a very interesting article from msnbc.com called the “Secret to Long Life”. I talk about how having a healthy lifestyle increases your chances of having a long life. Finally, I end the show with six tips about exercising in hot weather from a health.yahoo.com article.

 BH4BP #1 – Intro, Workplace Eating & 180lbs Lost | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:53

This first show starts with an overall synopsis of what this podcast is all about and how it can benefit you. Then I go through the challenges of being healthy and how it is important to incorporate healthier habits into your daily routine. After that I jump into the meat of the show and discuss the article “Overeating On The Job” from hotjobs.yahoo.com. This article talks about six ways to combat unhealthy items in the workplace environment. Finally, I look at the article “Student Loses 180 Pounds” from cnn.com. I discuss how this student, Brandon Hollas, lost the weight and how he has become inspirational to others looking to change their lifestyle to a healthier one.
