Trying to Serve the Lord Without Offending the Devil-Faust | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:02:53

James E. Faust explains very clearly, the LDS Church's stance on homosexuality and gay marriage. There can be no doubt where they stand, not that there is much doubt anyway. He refers to homosexuals, engaged in sexual activity, as being "the inappropriate use of sacred creative powers." He makes it clear that it is impossible that homosexuality is inherited or that people are born that way, because it "it would frustrate the whole plan of mortal happiness. Our designation as men or women began before this world was." He also mentions that "No scientific evidence demonstrates absolutely, absolutely, that this is so. James E. Faust then states there is "the false belief of inborn sexual orientation." So, I'm gathering that he saying heterosexual people are born heterosexual, but homosexual people are not born homosexual. So, in short, he does indeed believe in "inborn sexual orientation", but only for heterosexual people. I'm not sure why he mentioned that it was a "false belief", since it is his belief, as he clearly stated in the sentence before. Hopefully that makes sense to everyone. This powerful and extremely important talk was given on November 15, 1995 at BYU.

 Pornography-Dallin H. Oaks | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:01:11

In this amazing talk about the dangers of pornography, Dallen H. Oaks concurs with a letter he received from a man who was addicted to hard drugs and pornography, stating that addiction to pornography is far harder to overcome than addiction to hard drugs. The most powerful quote from this letter is: "In my eyes cocaine doesn't hold a candle to this. I have done both. . . . Quitting even the hardest drugs was nothing compared to [trying to quit pornography]" So, let this be a lesson to everyone, male or female, that according to a current Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ; trying to overcome addiction to cocaine or heroine, etc, is far easier and nothing compared to overcoming addiction to pornography. Now that's pretty powerful. I guess if you had to choose between which addiction to be more concerned about, it would have to be the pornography, according to Dallin H. Oaks. It's hard to believe that people are better off addicted to cocaine or hard drugs, than Playboy, but an Apostle said it in General Conference, so therefore it is and it must be so. Some great advice from a great man of God. This talk was given in the April 2005 General Conference

 Constant Truths for Changing Times-Thomas S. Monson | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:01:29

In this great talk, by the spiritual giant Thomas S. Monson, he reminds us that we should never sign petitions against little boys that are newspaper carriers and the "importance of being nonjudgmental and treating everyone with kindness." He shares the story of a little boy who delivered his newspaper, and was doing a very poor job of it and that he "accidentally threw it into the bushes or even close to the street." The neighborhood where Thomas S. Monson lives, got a delegation together to sign a petition, to have the little boy fired. In the end, tragically, according to Thomas S. Monson, the criticism heaped upon the little boy, was just too much and he committed suicide in his garage. He then says, "How grateful we were that we had not joined in that criticism." So even though he wasn't able to intervene and help the little boy to prevent his eventual suicide, at least he wasn't the cause of it and didn't sign the petition from the delegation, that led to the little boys suicide. I hope that the delegation was not LDS. We can all learn a lot from this example.

 The Law Of Tithing-Earl C. Tingey | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:04:05

In this powerful talk on tithing, Elder Earl C. Tingey shares the example of Joseph F. Smith's mother, who paid her tithing despite living in complete poverty. Early C. Tingey asks and answers the following question: "Did she prosper? Her son and grandson became presidents of the Church, and her descendants today include a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and many notable Church leaders." This shows that by paying our tithing, our descendants may become great leaders in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He also shares another amazing example of faith and tithing, in regards to a man in Africa, who was unemployed, with 7-8 kids and how he could still pay a full-tithing with 1 out of every 10 of his geese eggs, in order to have an eternal family. Earl C. Tingey makes it clear that anyone can pay tithing, employed, unemployed and that if we don't, we will not be able to have our eternal blessings and families. So, it's very simple; pay your tithing and have a shot at being with your spouse, parents, children for eternity or don't pay your tithing and throw it all away. It's just that simple. This is again a very powerful example of the importance of paying your tithing to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This talk was given in the April 2002 General Conference

 Tithing—a Commandment Even for the Destitute-Lynn G. Robbins | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:02:39

In this incredibly important talk, Lynn G. Robbins reminds everyone that if given the choice of feeding their family or paying their tithing-they should always pay their tithing. Lynn G. Robbins asks the following questions to prove his point: "Is there a level of poverty so low that sacrifice should not be expected or a family so destitute that paying tithing should cease to be required?" "But how can you ask someone so destitute to sacrifice?" He also says: "One of the first things a bishop must do to help the needy is ask them to pay their tithing." "No bishop, no missionary should ever hesitate or lack the faith to teach the law of tithing to the poor." Again, this just shows that paying your tithing is the most important thing you can do, even more important than feeding your own family. This talk was given in the April 2005 conference for those that want to either listen to it or read it.

 Quick To Observe-David A. Bednar | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:02:16

This episode shows the importance of being quick to observe. This clip shows how important it is for women to wear only one earring in each ear. It may seem minor to some, but according to David A. Bednar, an Apostle for the Lord Jesus Christ, it is an "eternally important decision." If necessary, it is even worth ending a relationship with someone over this issue, no matter how much you may love each other or what wedding plans you may have for the future. This is a powerful example of exact obedience to a "Prophet's pleading" and all LDS women should head this strong counsel. This Talk was given at BYU-Provo May 10, 2005.
