Welcome to the Friday 4 pack for Friday, October 2nd, 2015. This week it’s Mr. Keen, tracer of lost persons. This was one of the longest running old-time radio programs. It began on October 12th, 1937 and ended April 19th, 1955 which was well into the television era. The show was produced by Frank and Anne Hummert. The show was based On Robert W Chambers 1906 novel, The Tracer of lost Persons. Bennett Kilpack Played the part of Mr. Keen At the shows beginning in 1937 and was later replaced by Arthur Hughes and Phil Clark. The show would later be satirized by Bob and Ray as they Did their parity, Mr. trace, Keener than most persons. Hope you enjoy Mr. Keen.

Luke Slaughter of Tombstone was a very short old time radio series which was discontinued after only 16 broadcasts. Sam Buffington starred as Luke Slaughter, a Civil War cavalryman who turned to cattle ranching in post war Arizona territory near Fort Huachuca. William N. Robson, known from his work with such series as Escape, Suspense and The CBS Radio Workshop, directed. The series was produced and directed by William N. Robson, one of radio’s greatest dramatic directors and Robert Stanley producer was aired from February 23 through June 15, 1958. Buffington portrayed the hard-boiled cattleman with scripts overseen by Gunsmoke sound effects artist Tom Hanley.

Dimension X was a classic Sci-Fi old time radio Show that ran on the NBC network from April 8 1950 to November 29th 1951. These are adventures in time and space told in future tense. The first episode you are going to hear comes from a play adapted from a short story that appeared in the Saturday Evening On Christmas eve 1949 and was written by Graham Doan Was adapted For Dimension X by Ernest Kinoy. The show is called, The Outer Limit. The second show you're going to hear Is Jack Williamson’s famous story, With Folded Hands Which was first published In July 1947 in an issue of Astounding Science Fiction.

Ralph Bell starred as his associate, Lt. Travis Rogers. Barrie’s office was on Madison Avenue and his adventures were fairly standard PI fare. Barrie worked alone, solved cases swiftly and efficiently, and feared no man. As the promos went, he was your man when you can’t go to the cops. Confidentiality a specialty.
