Bonnie M. Davis is a veteran teacher of 37 years who is passionate about education. She has taught in middle schools, high schools, universities, homeless shelters, and a menâ??s prison. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including Teacher of the Year, the Governorâ??s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the Anti-Defamation Leagueâ??s World of Difference Community Service Award. Davis has presented at numerous national conferences and provides services to schools through her consulting firm, A4Achievement. Her publications include African-American Academic Achievement: Building a Classroom of Excellence and numerous articles on literacy instruction. She received her BS in education, her MA in English, her MAI in communiÂcations, and her PhD in English.

Rainier Spencer is professor and director of Afro-American Studies at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. He has published Spurious Issues: Race and Multiracial Identity Politics in the United States (Westview, 1999) and Challenging Multiracial Identity (Lynne Rienner, 2006), as well as numerous book chapters and journal articles on multiracial identity. Based on a philosophical platform of racial scepticism, his work focuses on the uses of biological race and hypodescent by the American Multiracial Identity Movement, arguing that the movement supports rather than deconstructs biological race.
The Mixed and Happy blog is a reply to Keith Bardwell's decision to deny a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for the future children they might have. Jason Luckett is a performing songwriter, essayist and poet based in Los Angeles. His latest album is mMix, a powerful and playful look at the state of affairs in this mixed (up?) millennium. He founded TheObamanation.com, a blog dedicated to a discussion of â??Mulatto Moments in Post-Racial Americaâ?? in 2007. Luckettâ??s essay, â??Playing the Verses Straight,â?? will appear in a forthcoming anthology of original work published by Seven Stories Press, The Black Body, alongside such acclaimed writers as Obamaâ??s inaugural poet Elizabeth Alexander, comedy writer Anne Beatts, Village Voice journalist Greg Tate, filmmaker S. Pearl Sharp, and award-winning actor Hill Harper. His work has appeared in the poetry anthology, Voices from Leimert Park among other publications. He has composed the score for several films, including the 2005 short, â??Primary Next of Kin,â?? featuring Danny Glover. In 2004 he established Groovysoul Creative as an umbrella for his creative ventures. Heâ??s released six discs on his Lucky Masala Head label.
Kayci Baldwin has served as the President of Teen Project RACE for four years, advocating for Multiracial youth on many fronts. Kayci is a Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholar and recipient of the 2009 Princeton Prize in Race Relations. As a high school senior, she is busy counting down the days until college acceptance decisions arrive!
