Peter G James Sinclair: How To Use A Blog To Become A Speaker, Top Earning Coach And Land A $100,000 Book Deal | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:06

[ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Peter G James Sinclair, the founder of MotivationalMemo.com, a blog he created to help motivate others and also motivate himself, came into my world first as a member of my Membership Site Mastermind training I ran a few years ago (a new version is coming in 2016). Peter and I stayed in touch on and off via email ever since then, with Peter often sharing how well things were going for him. To be honest I always felt a bit confused as Peter seemed to be doing many different things, which now after completing this interview with him, I can tell was very much the case! From Jewelry, To Website Design, To Motivation Expert Peter started out as an entrepreneur at 19 selling jewelry, then after attending a workshop with internet marketing pioneer Corey Rudl, decided to enlist his 12 year old son as a website coder and begin a website design business. To market the new business father and son walked door-to-door in his hometown, the Gold Coast Australia, selling websites, and quickly signed up five clients. It was very much the early days (circa year 2000), so as you can imagine demand for websites was significant — a new industry was forming. Fast forward seven years and Peter sold his web design business. He then discovered the world of personal development books like Think And Grow Rich, and became a full time self-guided student, living in the library. Peter started his blog, Motivational Memo, as a place to track his own progress studying and practicing motivation and personal development, and help others do the same. His blog slowly gained traction thanks to Peter’s efforts guest writing. As a result of the platform Peter built with his blog, he went on to become a speaker, coach and amazingly sold $100,000 worth of his first self-published book thanks to just one joint venture. Family Involvement Towards the end of the interview Peter made an interesting comment about one of his big personal motivations – to start businesses with his family. From that first website design business involving his son and later his daughter, to today working with his youngest daughter running a hair salon, Peter has tapped into his entrepreneurial and marketing skill to start and run businesses that involve his family. Speaker, coach, and $100,000 on his first self-published book – all from starting a blogClick To Tweet I hope you enjoy this interview with Peter. It’s yet another brilliant example of how using a blog to build a platform for your expertise and authority can lead to some pretty amazing opportunities.  Sarah Timmerman: How Fashion Website ‘Beginning Boutique’ Grew To $4 Million A Year In Sales And Became Australia’s Top Ranked Social Media Brand With Over 1 Million Followers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 47:45

[ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] I love this interview. Sarah Timmerman is from my hometown Brisbane, she’s grown a $4 million a year women’s fashion online retailer, gathered a million followers on social media — and she has done it starting with nothing, pouring revenue back into growth, hustling her way to the top. Sarah was very transparent during the interview, explaining each step of her journey. She explains how she first sourced clothing to sell from day one (20 designers were ready to go when the doors opened on her online store), how she built her website, found her first customers, hired her first interns and employees and then grew to the multi-million dollar operation she runs today. The Number One Social Media Brand In Australia Sarah’s company, Beginning Boutique, was recently crowned the top social media brand in Australia. With half a million Instagram followers and half a million Facebook fans, it’s not surprising. During the second half of the interview I asked Sarah to explain how she has grown such a large social following, which is a huge source of new customers for the business. She’s done a great job tapping into her target market by focusing on the people who influence the people she wants to reach. One of the key elements to Sarah’s success is her early focus on email marketing. I was surprised to hear how clearly Sarah understood the importance of email right from the beginning of her business, but after listening to her describe her devotion to learning about internet marketing, it’s not so surprising. If You Sell Products Online You Must Listen To This If you’re an online retailer or looking to start an online store, especially if you are in any industry related to fashion, Sarah’s podcast interview is a must-listen. You will hear the whole journey from idea, to the first sale, to the multi-million dollar business it is today. Sarah and Beginning Boutique demonstrate what you can achieve using the internet, if you’re focused and follow proven online marketing principles.  Jessica Nazarali: How To Start Coaching Online And Make $257,000 In Your First Year Of Business | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Jessica Nazarali dabbled in entrepreneurship in her late teens, buying brand name items from second hand clothing stores and selling them for a profit on eBay. Blogging is what kick-started Jessica's online career, which led her down a path to e-commerce, and then what she does today - online coaching. Jessica had a well paid job, a wonderful fiancé, and a great apartment in the beautiful city of Sydney... but something was still missing! Even with all the boxes ticked, there was some kind of empty feeling inside that just wouldn’t go away. This was what drove her to begin blogging. Operation "Finding Jessica" In 2011, Jessica began an experimental blog about healthy eating and healthy living. Shortly after, she looked online to find information on how to build a successful blog and found my Blog Mastermind course. After an evening of procrastination and asking the universe for a sign – Jessica got “the sign” (in the form of an email from me in her inbox the next morning) and joined Blog Mastermind. She began blogging about healthy eating and living, and her first blog was called Live Healthy Simply. Jessica worked hard to produce top quality content from the start, blogging five days a week for two years. At the height of her health and wellness blog’s success, Jessica was getting 1,500 views a day. After her first year blogging, Jessica began selling affiliate products like Sarah Wilson’s I Quit Sugar book and running some sponsored posts and creating some of her own digital products. These various income streams made Jessica around $1,000 per month, which is about when people began approaching her for one-on-one wellness coaching. Jessica completed a course in health coaching and worked with a couple of clients only to realize it wasn’t something she was passionate about. Another nudge from the Universe came in the form of one of her blog readers contacting Jessica and asking her if she would help her set up her website and blog. Having already created and run her own successful blog, Jessica knew she certainly had the skills to help others do it. Opportunity Knocked And Inspiration Followed After working with her first coaching client for online business, Jessica felt really inspired and excited about helping more people do this. Within a week, another woman contacted her for help with her online business and that was all the confirmation Jessica needed to start business coaching. Jessica launched a one-on-one coaching program that she sold for $600 and had 20 clients sign up in the first week. From there Jessica created three month and six month coaching programs charging $1,000 per month. Jessica was finally able to quite her job in February 2014 to make the transition to being a full time online coach. By the end of 2014, she had made $140,000 from her coaching programs and affiliate marketing. In December 2014 she created her Find Your First Paying Coaching Client program and launched it on Christmas eve. The launch ran through all of January and was an extraordinary success, bringing in $110,000. [Tweet "How To Make $110,

Mariana Fataccioli: How This Health Food Blogger Generated $100,000 In Revenue And 100,000 Instagram Followers In Her First Year Of Business | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Mariana Fataccioli is a food, health and wellness blogger who has the impressive claim to fame for having amassed a following of 100,000 people in 6 months on Instagram. She has also pulled off the considerable feat of making $100,000 in her first year of business. At the time of the interview, Mariana’s Instagram following was up to 370,000 people! This is no small accomplishment given than many bloggers are still winding up to making basic sales in the first year. Mariana explains that most of her income was poured back into her business to continue growing it, so she's still deep in the trenches working on taking things to the next level. From Fashion To Food: Mariana Finds Her Way As A Budding Entrepreneur Mariana grew up with a very entrepreneurial mom. Her mother currently owns and runs three businesses so Mariana is no stranger to the work and hours involved in being an entrepreneur. Mariana saw how hard her mother worked, some days from 6am to 1am the next morning to manage the business and care for the family. Because of this, Mariana was adamant from the beginning that she wanted to create some kind of systemized business. She wanted something that she could step out of and work on, instead of in, every single day. Mariana’s background was in the fashion industry so she began her first blog on fashion. Whilst working an internship for Harper's Bazaar magazine, she found herself managing the other interns within the first three days of starting. By the end of two weeks she had moved ahead so much in her role that she felt she needed to go out on her own rather than continue working for someone else. Mariana wanted to stretch herself beyond any limits that would be set by being stuck in a prescribed job. Over the next few years she began to find inspiration from her own personal health journey. This became fuel for Mariana's online business, Skinny Kitchen, as she shared what she was doing on her Instagram and people began to respond and connect with her. A photo posted by A Healthy Foodies Best Friend (@skinnykitchen) on Jun 17, 2015 at 2:18pm PDT Like many of the entrepreneurs I’ve interviewed, Mariana taught herself how to do everything from searching on Google. If she had her time again, she tells me that she would definitely outsource most of the work rather than try to do it all herself! Cracking The Code To Amass An Amazing Instagram Following I asked Mariana how she grew her massive Instagram following in such a short time. Mariana found the big jump came from other people tagging their friends in her images and asking them to make the food she was sharing in her Instagram photos. She also had a system of using 30 hashtags with 20 regular tags for all of her posts then leaving space for 10 hashtags specific to each individual post. A photo posted by A Healthy Foodies Bes...

Kate McKibbin: How This Aussie Fashionista Successfully Built Two Six-Figure Blogs | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Kate McKibbin is a blogger from Australia and runs two six-figure blogs, which means she makes over $100,000 a year from each. Her website Drop Dead Gorgeous Daily is a fashion blog and she also runs Secret Bloggers Business, a blog dedicated to helping other fashionistas get started with blogging. In this podcast interview, you'll hear the story about how each blog was started, how Kate grew her traffic, and how she makes money. How Kate's Creative Inspiration Carved Out A Niche Business Kate grew up in rural Victoria, a southern state in Australia. Her dad managed his own business, so she naturally leaned towards entrepreneurship too. Kate's dad was also an internet sales provider so they were some of the first people in their area to have internet access. Kate loved fashion ever since she was a child so it's not surprising her first blog to take off was a fashion blog. What most people don't know is that she built her first website at age 13. This was no fashion blog though, it was a fan site for Nirvana. Anyone living in the in mid 90’s would know this band was the biggest deal around at the time and Kate was not going to let her teenage angst go to waste! Kate worked in advertising in London after leaving to go travelling at the end of high school. Kate explains that her role in the corporate world was a very bad match and she found herself in dire need of an escape route before things went seriously pear shaped. Kate wanted to get involved in publishing and writing and to find more of an outlet for her creativity. By this time she was still only 21 years old and in an amazing burst of creative inspiration and impressive execution, she created a website to publish magazine type articles she wrote herself. She used this to demonstrate to editors that she could do the work of a magazine journalist. Her website was a creative way of showing potential employers an online CV. Whilst that's quite common practise now, at the time Kate did this, it was still a very original idea. She pitched an idea to write feature articles to the editors of all the magazines she could contact and got picked up by Cosmopolitan. This lead Kate to work in the publishing industry for three years then go into web editing. Kate's technical skill in creating and managing websites and online content was rare in what was still a relatively new industry. Typical for an entrepreneur, Kate was learning on the go and figuring things out as she needed to. She essentially learned how to create websites using Google to find the information she needed. Being a web editor still wasn't the most fulfilling role though and by now Kate had moved back to Sydney and needed to make more money. At the time there were three main newsletters everyone subscribed to for fashion but none were Sydney based, so Kate decided to create a newsletter and offer online shopping for fashion. Because what she was doing was still very new and she worked in the magazine industry, Kate was very lucky to get her site mentioned in a few well known print magazines so her email list grew quickly. Kate began to make around $1000 a month from advertising and was offered a one or t...

Lauren Shuttleworth: How This Stationery Entrepreneur Educates Girls, Helps The Environment & Makes A Profit At The Same Time | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:40

[ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Like many entrepreneurs I've always had a strong urge to help other people, not just directly helping customers with my business, but in a broader social sense too. Donating to charities is great, but I've never felt as excited about it as actually running a business. I've often contemplated how to merge these two ideas - helping people like a charity does so you get a real sense of meaning and purpose behind your business, but also doing it for profit so you're personally motivated financially (and can pay yourself well!). For a long time I kept these two ideas separate, like church and state. Yes my business allows me to support charities, but the two projects were never closely linked. That was until I met Lauren Shuttleworth, the subject of today's EJ Podcast. Lauren introduced me to the world of "Social Enterprise", which successfully merges the two worlds of business and charity, achieving the objectives I see as important to an entrepreneur - profit and social good. Lauren’s business, Words With Heart, creates eco-friendly stationery with an ever-present focus on empowering women and girls. Every product sold funds a certain amount of education days for women and girls and this is delivered by the charity partners Lauren has teamed up with. In Lauren’s case, her business runs as a for-profit enterprise. The business also helps to provide education to disadvantaged women and girls in the developing world whilst positively impacting the environment through using sustainable materials in its products and production methods. [Tweet "How Aussie Entrepreneur Lauren Shuttleworth Went After The Stationery Market #entrepreneur"] How Lauren Became A Force For Good Lauren began her journey as an entrepreneur in the online space in 2008 by selling jewellery to a wholesale market via three different group buying sites. As you will hear in the interview, Lauren came across this opportunity at a great time. It quickly became a very successful and lucrative first business, bringing in sales between $3,000 and $10,000 per campaign. However eventually her jewellery business closed down as bigger retailers jumped on board once they realized the potential of the internet for online sales. Lauren still didn’t know what her passion was and wasn’t quite sure what direction to go in. Life threw a curve ball at the end of 2011, when Lauren’s mother passed away very suddenly. She was left with the acute awareness that life is short and she needed to take time out just for herself. Thus began a life changing experience of overseas travel. Lauren’s inner search began by working with rescued elephants in Thailand and from there moved on to Kenya to volunteer at a school. It was here she learned first hand just how crucial it is for girls in particular to receive funding to continue their education. Lauren specifically remembers a little girl called Esther who was very bright, loved school and wanted to become a doctor. Esther’s orphanage said they could not pay for her to continue school, so Lauren paid for that year of fees, but was left with questions...What about next year's fees? What about all the other girls just like Esther? Using Passion To Fuel A Profitable Business Returning to Australia, Lauren knew she had found her passion and didn’t want to lose the valuable lessons she had learned from her time traveling.

How Dane Maxwell Created A Multimillion Dollar Passive Income Software Business By Age 32 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:15

Dane Maxwell is one of those entrepreneurs with boundless enthusiasm for life, but particularly for his entrepreneurial activities. He has built a multi-million dollar software company and never has to work a day again in his life, but is fueled by a blazing passion to help others do what he has done. [ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Dane may never have to work another day in his life, but he LOVES what he’s doing so much, that he regularly puts in massive hours. He is especially obsessive about his latest entrepreneurial venture, The Foundation, which is like a school for online entrepreneurs. Hard Learned Lessons Pave The Way For Success By age 22 Dane had started 22 different businesses. Most of them failed, however he enjoyed enough success with a few of them to keep going. Dane's early experiences buying and selling websites and making money with Google Adsense, taught him some key lessons about online business. He realized he didn’t need to stick rigidly to any prescribed ethos, like focusing all his attention on passive income above anything else that might provide him with a greater sense of happiness and fulfillment. Another of the lessons he learned was not to try to buy his freedom after a website deal went bad due to purchasing from an unethical businessman. He lost everything he’d created so far on his entrepreneurial journey as a result of that one bad deal. On the other side of all these challenging lessons, Dane created his first software company. While attempting to sell software it became apparent that his clients only wanted a part of what he was selling. All he needed to do was provide people with exactly what they wanted rather than trying to create and sell something else. This insight was a major turning point for Dane. A light bulb went off because he realized he didn’t even need to have his own ideas or know what he was doing. He just needed to listen to his clients, solve their problems for them and put experts in place to provide the expertise needed. One of the things Dane is passionate about in building business is education-based marketing. This means beginning with one opening sentence that clearly defines who is going to be interested in his product and fully engages them from the get go. He goes on to provide his clients with a ton of valuable content, building strong relationships and trust. Finally, he provides a finely tuned and expertly executed solution to their problems. Using this framework, selling something becomes a fluid, simple transaction that is of mutual benefit to both parties. How Passive Income Provides For a Lifestyle Fuelled By Passion Today Dane has five software companies that create a lucrative passive income for him whilst he runs his favorite project, The Foundation. Dane puts in massive days and long hours into the Foundation, but he feels so inspired and fulfilled that it isn't soul destroying like most jobs people have.  Natalie Sisson: How To Travel The World And Earn A 6-Figure Income With The Suitcase Entrepreneur | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:40

Natalie Sisson is known as the Suitcase Entrepreneur, but as you’ll hear, this has nothing to do with her trotting around selling suitcases. Natalie is an incredibly successful online entrepreneur who makes a six-figure income while travelling the world, living an adventure filled life. Starting with a simple blog five years ago at age 32, she built an online business to support her dream lifestyle, including such highlights as going on a charity bicycle ride of six and a half thousand kilometres down the African continent. [ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Fresh out of school, Natalie was not content to complete just one university degree, she decided to do two, one in Tourism and Travel and one in Information Systems. Perhaps not so coincidentally, her degrees combine the two worlds that Natalie lives in today - travel and tech. When Natalie decided to leave the safety and security of her corporate paycheck behind, she was headed for Vancouver to play in the Ultimate Frisbee World Championships. In Vancouver, Natalie co-founded a tech company that was building an app for people to make payments on Facebook. Her role in the company was to get investors on board, figure out a business model and build a customer base from zero with a budget of zero. It was a learning curve for Natalie and she relished the challenge, delivering results and learning many skills she would later use as the suitcase entrepreneur. How Natalie Went From Zero To $15,000 In One Month Many successful entrepreneurs don’t know how they’re going to do what they set their sights on – they just go out and do it. Natalie learned best from diving in the deep end and being forced to swim. Whilst helping build the tech start up, it became increasingly apparent to Natalie and her business partner that her strengths were in social media, marketing and building community. It also became increasingly apparent that Natalie’s heart really wasn’t in working for someone else. Creating her own business was the only way forward. To begin her entrepreneurial journey, Natalie went from zero to $15,000 in one month by running social media boot camps for entrepreneurs. Natalie then headed for Buenos Aries in Argentina to live and began turning all her skills and knowledge from her live workshops, into audios and videos that she could sell from her blog. During this time Natalie was learning all the steps that go into building an online information publishing business. This included how to do a sales page, build a membership site, how to make videos and embed them, upload files to servers and set up basic Paypal for her payment process. Every thing was new to Natalie, but taking a step-by-step approach worked well. A major tipping point for Natalie came after reading “Turning Pro” by Steven Pressfield. She had been blogging consistently and getting some traction but revenue wasn’t consistent and nothing was coming easily. Steven’s book made Natalie step up and recognize that she truly was qualified to be doing what she was doing. Another massive turning point for Natalie was when she made the conscious choice to surround herself with people who were smarter and more accomplished than her in order to lift her own game. Lifestyle, Business and Financial Freedom Natalie has now travelled and stayed in 69 countries and has an online business that has seven inc...

Heidi Armstrong: The Woman Who Took On The Big 4 Banks In The Australian Mortgage Industry And Won | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:10

Heidi Armstrong is an entrepreneur with an eclectic background and a penchant for breaking into male dominated industries to shake things up. Heidi is best known for co-founding a very successful, online non-bank lending business called State Custodians. This business became a formidable competitor in the home finance industry in Australia that is heavily dominated by four major banking companies. State Custodians won Money Magazine's award for 'Non-Bank Lender of the year' for four consecutive years. [ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] From completing degrees in law and science, to working as a solicitor in the pharmaceutical industry, Heidi eventually found herself launching a business in the financial services industry. This began with underwriting deposit bonds then evolving into an online non-bank lending business for mortgages and home loans. The keys to the success of State Custodians was their ability to attract clients to their online platform then capitalize on this by creating trust in their brand and services. Heidi and her team did this by building strong relationships and providing top quality service. Following the success of State Custodians, Heidi was ready for a new challenge so she sold out of the business to create the space for new ventures. From presenting her own show on 2GB, one of Sydney’s premier news and talk radio stations, Heidi pitched to Sky News to do a show called Business Success and showcase the stories that often don't get heard. This lead Heidi to her latest venture which is her own website Money To Love. Wealth Creation Begins With Building A Brand Based On Trust From listening to the process that lead Heidi along the path to success and wealth creation, I believe a big part of Heidi’s success has been her ability to establish relationships and consistently provide top quality service. Most of the online traffic for State Custodians was initially generated by online comparison sites for mortgages and home loans. Heidi and her team established great relationships with these comparison sites and provided them with a consistent and trustworthy loan providing business to direct their customers to. Once the clients came from the comparison sites to the State Custodian website, they provided top quality, professional help in understanding and going through the process of getting financed for a home loan. Heidi knew that in the online space, you have to really deliver an exceptional customer experience because the competition is so strong. Delivering a personable customer experience is also key because people are going to talk about you whether you like it or not. Because of this, you need to have a positive influence on others so those conversations are going to generate interest in you and your business.  Kat Loterzo: From Personal Trainer Trading Hours For Dollars, To Making $80,000 A Month Online, Traveling The World And Living The Laptop Lifestyle | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Kat Loterzo was a successful personal trainer based in Melbourne Australia. She built up a thriving practice and enjoyed her work, but something wasn't right. She wanted to do more, help more people and gain freedom from the hours-for-dollars business model. [ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Fast forward to 2007 and Kat came across my blog. She loved how I was able to travel around the world with my laptop and make an income using an online business model. She promptly signed up for my Blog Mastermind program and started her own blog. Kat continued her personal training practice but slowly began the process to transition towards online business. She used her blog as a platform to build her brand, then launched a health and fitness ebook, which provided her first taste of making money online. It took some time for Kat to evolve her online business to the subject she cares about - helping woman get the most out of all aspects of life, including health and business. Today she runs a coaching and digital training business and makes $80,000 a month. She has a membership site, runs online and in-person workshops, has a private coaching program and more. Kat travels the world with her husband and two children and is able to run her entire business from her laptop. In this interview you will hear the story behind the entire transition process Kat went through, how she creates and launches products, and built her audience. Ready, Fire, Aim I believe a big part of Kat’s success is her ability to come up with ideas and execute them incredibly quickly. She will have an idea for a training program one day, spend the night writing the sales page, send an email to her subscribers the following day, make sales and then create the program with her new members. This rapid product launch process might be stressful at times (and Kat openly states it is), but the pressure leads to performance. When you have paying customers you have to deliver. While the “ready, fire, aim” methodology might not suit everyone, if you’ve had a product in development for a while, stop developing and start selling.  Nathan Williams: Professional Poker Player Turned Blogger Earns A Full Time Income Selling 200+ Ebooks A Month | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Nathan Williams is a professional poker player who specializes in "microstakes". This means he is very good at winning when the amount required to bet is small (we called him the featherweight champion of poker during this interview, an apt description). [ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Nathan, using the username "BlackRain79" became internet famous in online poker forums, thanks largely to his status at the top of a microstakes ranking site that is no longer live today. Nathan decided to take what began in the forums and move the conversation over to a blog, thus BlackRain79.com was born. One of the main reasons I invited Nathan on to a podcast is because he manages to sell over 200 copies of an ebook he wrote every month from his blog (he recently launched a second ebook and now is selling as many as 300 ebooks a month). What is interesting about Nathan's success is he has a very small audience. He only recently started hitting 300 visitors per day to his blog and for a long time his traffic was around the 200 visitors per day mark. You might recall I recently wrote a series of articles on blog traffic, with one of them specifically talking about how to make $100,000 a year from just 200 daily visitors. Nathan is proof of this concept, although he's not exactly doing what I suggest because he only has front-end low priced ebooks for sale (for the time being). Generally you need some higher priced back-end products to make a full time income off small traffic, but because Nathan is able to tap into some highly qualified sources of referral traffic in the form of other poker sites, he is able to sell a lot of ebooks. Here's a sample interview of Nathan talking about how he became a poker player... Feed A Hungry Audience Listen in to this interview and you will hear that Nathan is not a fan of pushy internet marketing techniques. He poured a lot of content into his blog and even more into his ebooks (his second one is almost 500 pages long!). People buy from him because he provides value in a market of poker players hungry to improve their game. The formula is simple. Find a hungry crowd and give them what they want. If you have knowledge to share a blog is a great way to execute this formula.  Tracy Raftl: How This Confident Adult Acne Blogger Makes $80,000 Year | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Long term readers of this blog may remember I published an interview with acne blogger Fran Kerr, whom I coached to help start her blog. Fran eventually became a leader in the field, making $4,000 to $12,000 a month thanks to her blog. Tracy Raftl came across Fran's blog while reading sites during a period where she was suffering from adult acne too. Tracy felt she had her own story to tell and could also start a blog to help others suffering from the skin condition. Tracy listened to my interview with Fran and decided it made sense to take part in my Blog Mastermind program to follow the same system I helped Fran execute to grow her blog. As you will hear Tracy explain in this interview, it wasn't a quick journey, but through diligent work, following the steps I outline in my course, she confidently grew her blog business. Tracy started in 2011 and within a year was making money. By the second year she had replaced her full time job income and in 2013 she made $80,000. Today she makes her living selling various ebooks she wrote herself, and also makes on average $2,000 a month selling skin care related products from her blog via the Amazon affiliate program. Can You Copy The Same Niche As Someone Else? When I first came across Tracy and her blog it was very clear she was following closely in the footsteps of Fran (she even had a couple of guest posts on Fran's blog). Of course Tracy didn't want to copy Fran exactly, although she saw the benefit in copying the same system of blogging. Tracy had her own ideas about how to cure acne and her own experiences from curing the condition herself using alternative methods. She was confident that if she shared her advice using her unique voice, she could build her own presence in the niche, which she did. I believe Tracy's case study is a powerful one for any other person who wants to start a blogging business but feels their niche is already well served by others. The great thing about the internet and blogs in particular, is that one option does not replace another. A person with acne can read Fran and Tracy's blogs. Instead of ruthless competition, bloggers can work together to cross promote and support each other. Of course you still need your own angle, your own point of differentiation. As Tracy demonstrates, when it comes to blogging, the differentiation point can be you - who you are, your story, you way of writing and your dedication to sharing and nurturing your own community. I'm certainly not the only blogger who teaches how to make money blogging. Tracy is not the only acne blogger who can make a living from it. I honestly believe there is room for everyone who is genuinely committed to providing value to others and has something unique to say. [Tweet "You Can Start A Blog About The Same Subject As Other Blogs And Still Succeed. #blogging"] A One Woman Show There's one other incredibly point about Tracy's story - she's done it all herself. I don't recommend you do everything yourself, in fact for some people who don't have technical skills trying do it yourself will kill your project before you even start. However I think it's important to demonstrate that in this case study, Tracy was able able to grow her audience using blog posts, youtube videos and an email list,

Barbara Turley: How A Non-Techy Started A Blog, Podcast & Online TV Show, And Today Makes $100,000+ Year Coaching Woman About Wealth | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Barbara Turley serves as inspiration to anyone who is currently working a job they like, yet want to quit because of a desire for the kind of freedom that comes from being your own boss. [ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Barbara had a solid career in the world of finance. The only problem was the incompatibility with the way she likes to work and the way the corporate world expected her to work. Like many people I know, Barbara tends to work in bursts. However for a burst to happen, she needs time to not work, to recharge and do other things for days at a time (recovery is just as important as performance - look up the Ultradian Rhythm for more on why this is). A chance trip on a Virgin flight in Australia introduced her to my EJ blog (I was featured in Virgin inflight magazine many years ago), which opened the door to the world of making money from blogs. She read a lot of the articles here on EJ, and later joined my Blog Mastermind program. Barbara decided to take the leap, quit her job, and began implementing her strategy to become a "women and wealth" coach, helping other women with their financial security. Build Your Platform Despite her non-web savvy background, Barbara, with the help of a tech person, went on to launch a blog (EnergiseWealth.com), a podcast and even an online TV show (Femininewealth.tv). At the moment Barbara focuses on one-to-one coaching, charging $2,000 a month to help woman with the subject she has the most experience with - financial management. By the time you listen to this interview her first digital training program may also be available as she expands her business. As Barbara explains during the interview, she finds many of her coaching clients at networking events, however most of the "selling" of her services happens automatically online. Her potential clients study her blog, go through her seven part free video training, and listen to her podcast. This content acts like a "background check", so Barbara doesn't need to convince people that she's worth the $2,000 a month coaching investment. This is another case study that demonstrates how powerful a platform built on a blog can be for almost any kind of business. It's especially effective for coaches, or any person who teaches and uses their personal brand to sell. [Tweet "You Don't Have To Be Good With The Internet To Succeed Online"] Enjoy the interview, and when you are ready to build your own platform, consider enrolling in the next round of my Blog Mastermind program, just as Barbara did.  Tom Menditto: Pittsburgh ADHD Coach Goes From $300 In The Bank To $30,000 A Month Applying Online Marketing To His Local Business | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Get ready to be inspired... Tom Menditto is one highly passionate fellow! Tom rose from a previous life suffering from the mental illness ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). He mastered his own condition and today helps other people do the same through his coaching practice based in Pittsburgh. [ Download MP3 | Transcript | iTunes | Soundcloud | Raw RSS ] Tom's business has grown significantly in recent years primarily thanks to online marketing. Here's a segment of the email he sent me - I had bought your program during a really rough time in my career. I learned a lot, but did not apply it immediately. Things got worse. I was nearly broke....had poor health...very few clients...and less than a few hundred to my name. I was so broke...I couldn't afford to go to my the funeral of my half-sister's mom. It was a pathetic low point in my life. During that time I began to apply the techniques you taught about building an online business, and applied it to my local business and blog, and within 3 months I was making enough to live, 6 months I had extra, and within 12 months I was doing 6 figures. Last month was my best month ever at 30K. Literally I went from 300 bucks to 30K/month in less than a few years by applying the core principles of how you build an online business. Needless to say, I had to invite Tom on to my podcast to explain his story and learn what he did to grow his business. How To Attract Clients From The Internet On Autopilot What I love about Tom's story is how he took what he learned in my Membership Site Mastermind program and applied it to create an automated online marketing system for his offline coaching practice. Tom built a blog and email list that are designed to introduce his concepts to potential clients. This education and relationship building process happens automatically, so when a person gets in touch for coaching they already know him and what he stands for. This makes the "selling" aspect of his business almost effortless. Prior to setting up his online system Tom was experiencing poor results using traditional forms of offline marketing like attending networking events. As you hear in the interview, things really changed once Tom created his online sales funnel. If you're a coach or a local business owner who feels they don't leverage the internet enough for marketing, this is an interview you have to listen to. The same goes if you suffer from a mental illness and have aspirations to leverage your "unusualness" to create something amazing. Tom will leave you feeling inspired, that is for sure! [Tweet "Why Isn't There An "AA" Group For Mental Illness? - Tom Menditto #EJPodcast"] If you want help setting up a sales funnel to automatically market your digital products or services, you can take the same course Tom did - my Membership Site Mastermind program.
