Hyper Nonsense! We are the pod that comes to you straight from the heart of California. San Luis Obispo (Sanluiton) to be exact. On this exciting episode, we talk about how The Man is sticking it to us for starting our own business. I had a cool "customer service" experience on behalf of a local musician. We talked about "binge-watching" of TV shows and why we don't do it. We honored the mystical land of Canadia with a special performance of O, Canadia. We wonder how it'd be possible for Hyper Nonsense to become the first podcast on Mars. Ceiling-breaking cupcake-eating bears, we got 'em. The most annoying phrases that we're all overusing? We got those, too.

Death By Gull | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:36:20

Some somber news to report, including a diagnosis of pterodacylism (with random outbursts of pterodactyl speak). We recap our experience at the Classic Car Show in Pismo Beach, CA. That lead to a lengthy discussion about the humanities (?) and the declining nature of car culture in America. We speculate on why some people who ride buses are some combination of anxious/depressed/sad. We talk about how gullwing car doors are cool but deadly. We review a sorta nautical-theme chip place. We went over the feedback we've received since the last show. We read an article about "bedtime procrastination." And more!

We went over the feedback we've received since the last show. We read an article about "bedtime procrastination." And more! Bulleted points in a list: Pterodactylism. I've got it. California = America, perfected. We tried recording this show a couple times already. There's no target day of the week for new shows, but it might be Thursday (America time). All we care about is maps. We went to the Pismo Beach car show. We rode the bus. And a trolley (bus). Some people who ride buses are depressed. There's no innovation left in cars other than making smaller/more efficient. Generation Y is broke and they don't care about houses or cars. I didn't have no fancy learnin's. Gullwing doors: an obsession that could be deadly. Our car is 20 years old. We may only ever buy one more car. What is the proper placement of a flux capacitor? We at ate Chipwrecked. It was good. Overall mouse-click report: No one can hear it. We have a new voicemail line. Our announcer is an Australian cow called Moogyver. I was wrong about my first domain name. My assumptions about Apple screwing up TextEdit have been verified. The show isn't really listed in New & Noteworthy. Help out by leaving a review. "Bedtime procrastination." It's a thing.  Space Train | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:41:21

We've done it! Yes, it's true. We've successfully doubled the number of episodes we've produced so far. In honor of this milestone, we've decided to end the show. Just kidding! How could we quit now? We've got listeners leaving us comments, tweets, even calling us at home in the middle of the night! We've got new audio gear and we're happy to tell you about it, even if we do have "more money than sense" in buying all of this stuff. We also discovered that the Australian prime minister has apparently been listening to our pods for years. Star Wars references! We got those, too. And daring helicopter-based escapes from Canadian prisons.

Your Body Is Trying To Save You | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:19:10

Welcome to our very first podcast ever! That we've ever recorded...? Maybe not. In this episode, we recount our history in podcasting going back to January/2005. We talk about the state of our work situation and how we're going thru the process of starting our own business. We encounter a small technical glitch with the recording (sorry!) and then we finish off with a fun news item about drunks burning down a pizza parlor.

No Market Radio 0042 – Vehicular Manslaughtered | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

We're back with a new pod! Jen has more free time now because she doesn't have as much writing work. We actually watched a TV show. Related: It's hard to find legal free TV on the web. We live in a construction zone. It's hard to breathe. Jen vehicular manslaughtered me. Jen's been looking for work on Craigslist and she's found a lot of spam ads as well as cleverly-worded responses to those spam ads. We recapped what we did for my birthday and our wedding anniversary. Also, the Renn Faire and Mid State Fair (Van Halen concert). We're trying to get to 100 subscribers on our YouTube channel so we can unlock live video streaming. Please click the link and subscribe. We finished things off with another round of Table Topics.  No Market Radio 0041 – Drugs O’Clock | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:08:19

It's time for a new podcast episode. And Jen is back! It was really hot here last weekend. We need to go back in time to help keep all of these planes from falling out of the sky. There was a power outage and that was kinda weird. Our neighbors are apparently fixing a roof. A roof infested with termites. I hurt my back. To remedy that, I took some hippie drugs. The hippie drugs made me have really weird dreams. Jen has been called for jury duty this week. She is currently on telephone standby. We chose another exciting question from our Table Topics cards. We finally got our Keurig coffee maker. Send us your favorite K-Cups! Leave a comment below or send us an e-mail: info(at)nomarket(dot)org Leave us a voice mail by dialing 805-725-5085.  No Market Radio 0040 – Fence Improvement | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:45

It's another fun-filled solo show. We won't blame you if you stop listening now. I thought it wasn't too noisy outside to record. And then it was. So I closed a window. Our neighbors (surprisingly) have raised the height of the fence that divides our properties. We're not entirely sure why they chose to do that but we're not complaining. I played a song by Peter Block. You can find this song in our ongoing Spotify playlist. I've canceled my Spotify, Netflix and World of Warcraft accounts. Related to that, we're trying to improve our finances and I've got plans. Follow No Market on Twitter! Leave us a comment below or send an e-mail to info(at)nomarket(dot)org.  No Market Radio 0039 – June Gloom | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:43

Another solo show. Recorded in the morning. I'm sorry. Jen's asleep. I decided to do a short show because she's very busy with a writing project. It's overcast later in the day right now thanks to the June Gloom. The video we made on Jen's birthday is edited and ready for viewing. A nerdy monologue on the nature of using YouTube ensued. We've been getting e-mails, probably from spammers, who want to contribute to our website. Our web host sucks and we'd like to move to a new one. We discovered yesterday that our fish tank was leaking water. We're pretty sure it's the filter. I played a song by Deborah Holland. You can find this song on our ongoing Spotify playlist. In an attempt to improve our finances, I canceled my Spotify Premium account. I'm contemplating canceling my World of Warcraft account, too. Thank you for listening!  No Market Radio 0038 – Birthday Pod | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

You may remember us from the TV show we did in the Denver area: We went to Strawberry Festival. Sign up for our newsletter, get bonus content. We saw Star Trek: Into Darkness. The crowd funding campaign for Jen's birthday was a success. We talked about the birthday celebration and our experience dining and hanging out at Madonna Inn. Jen wrote a thing called 40 Pieces of Wisdom upon turning 40 years old. We played a song by Laurie Morvan Band. We talked about Myspace. And Justin Timberlake. And other social network sites. We had another exciting round of Table Topics. e-Mail us at info(at)nomarket(dot)org or leave a comment below. Leave a voice mail by calling 805-725-5085. Subscribe to this podcast via RSS or iTunes.  No Market Radio 0037 – Max eF | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

We're makin' pods in pod land! I talked about my new life philosophy of Maximum Efficiency. AKA, Max eF. I've been drinking Guantanamo Bay-grade coffee. We met the Lanntonio of Fresh and Easy. We participated in the Shattered Soulstone Diablo III one-year anniversary gaming night. Fun was had. Colin wrote an excellent piece about movie theater etiquette for our site. I'm gonna be starting a music podcast soon (™). Jen's gonna be bringing back Inside My Head soon (™). I asked Jen if she could guess the singer of this song: (She guessed correctly!) We went over this list of hit songs that were originally meant for other artists. Some nerds made a thing that changes the words "the cloud" to "my butt." We had another exciting edition of Table Topics! There's still time to contribute to Jen's birthday fund. Leave a comment below.  No Market Radio 0036 – Avengers Assemble! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:23:33

We're back in the studio! A moment of silence for the end of Starbucks Frappuccino Happy Hour. Blackberry Storm. Anybody remember that? Our website has lots of stuff on it. Including the new Destroying Debt channel. Our coffee maker died. Thankfully, I'm trading an old stereo to a friend for a coffee maker he doesn't need anymore. Jen got a new writing gig. She's done with it for now but there may be more writing work for her in the future. (Thanks to Matt for helping Jen to land the job.) We watched all of the Avengers movies as a lead up to the newly released Iron Man 3. I plugged my guitar into the mixer. And then, there was a song. Jen said it was an unplanned tribute to recently-departed Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman. Then we had another (timely) edition of Table Topics. You can still help to make Jen's birthday awesome!  No Market Radio 0035 – Activity Resumed | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 31:45

Today's podcast was recorded while I was on a walk home from downtown San Luis Obispo. I recorded this podcast using the voice recorder app on my iPhone. I was also running the Runkeeper app, and I was concerned that if Runkeeper threw up an alert, it might kill the recorder app. I'm no longer using the Couch To 5k app. I've just gone back to taking walks. This month is turning out to be super busy already. Jen's picked up some more writing work but it hasn't entirely made up for the reduction in work she experienced earlier this year. Jen now knows about the crowd funding campaign I've started to help pay for her birthday celebration. (As of the time of recording, we had received one donation from Tiggr. We have since received another one from Nathan.) This happened because we had a somewhat serious conversation earlier this week about the state (and future) of our finances. We've started a new channel here at No Market called Destroying Debt and we'll be blogging there about our experiences in trying to improve our finances. (Here's the first post in the series, which I mentioned during the recording.) I talked a lot about our finances and gave some details about the debt we're trying to pay off. I then talked about how the death of Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman made me really depressed. And yeah, I finished the podcast off with "Seasons In The Abyss:" Leave a comment below or send an e-mail to info(at)nomarket(dot)org Leave us a voice mail by dialing 805-725-5085 on your telephone handset.
