With less than a week before the baby is born, it's either now or never for Episode 124!!It's another new year for Trapped on Vacation!  Whoda thunk I'd still be at this in 2009???  Not me, that's for sure!  Trapped on Vacation is the longest running completely non-commercial Disney podcast on the Internet, and Iâm damn proud of that!  I'm also damn proud of the many friends that I've made over the years.  (That's you by the way...)  My many friends are the #1 reason that I keep on plugging away.  While the episodes may be released a bit slower than at the start, I blame my friends for that... Happy New Year (a months too late!)This episode we step outside of the Disney Bubble and take in one of Central Florida's oldest attractions, Gatorland!We had a great time with a bunch the DPN Crew, including Jeff from Houston, Q, Chris from the Big D Podcast, 4mice+1 Heather, DisneyLeigh, DragonStorm (from twitter), and of course the Bleepin' Wife and myself.Basically this episode is just us tooling around and making fools of ourself feeding gators hot dogs, and watching Jeff & Chris feed some gators huge chunks of beef. After dreading listening to my AC audio for three weeks, I finally put the headphones on again. It's still tough for me to listen to because of the flood of memories and emotions that it creates. Tuesday was Annelle, the French Maid's final performance, and Wednesday the same actor played Samantha Sterling. She's among our favoritest performers in all of WDW, and I think it's fitting that I play both of her shows in one episode. Thank you Annelle! It's another night at the Adv Club... Starting things out is Tuesday's Radiothon. Great stuff as always! After that we head to the Hoopla for perhaps the best shows that I've ever seen in the library! There were a few moments where there wasn't a dry eye in the room! The show really highlighted the talent and diversity of the performers. Also many congratulations to the Adventurers Club Door Host, Kirk for reaching 20 years with the Walt Disney Company! Kirk received his 20 year pin in the middle of the show, which was great! Thanks to PI management for letting him celebrate this moment a week early. Hi all. It's the week that I've been dreading since the end of June. The Adventurer's Club is closing on Saturday, and there's nothing we can do but enjoy the last few nights. Hi all!I'm kicking off the 4th season of ToV the same way I do every year on Labor Day weekend since I got here in 1998:  Pirates and Pooh! (I explain why in the show...)BTW - I've decided to go back to my roots.  Podcasting for me, with content taking priority over quality., if you like it cool.  If not then there's plenty of Disney Podcasts that take pride in their "Quality Audio" to listen to.  Over the past year, I've lost my focus and a bit of my soul by worrying too much what people think.  F*ck that jazz.  I started doing this show for me.  People liked it.  My numbers grew and that was cool.  I started worrying about my audio and improved my quality. My numbers grew even more, and I ignored the content.  In doing so, I stopped having fun.  Other podcasts are businesses.  I'm not.  This is nothing more than a hobby for me...So from now on, I'm focusing on fun, like I did when I started.  That may mean crappy audio because I'm not focused on monitoring my audio levels on my recorder.If you stick around great!  If you don't, have a magical day!  ;)

I'm back from the NHL Playoffs!  Well I should say I'm finally off of my couch...  Go Red Wings! This week we head back to Westfest for the "Watch the Bleepin' Goat! Goat! Goat!" meet on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, courtesy of John from Houston of the Meandering Mouse Podcast.  After that I hang out with my friend Princess Bella and her parents and see a couple attractions at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Parents:  I dropped 2 F-bombs that I forgot about until I was mixing down the show.  One was 2 minutes in, when I was talking about the Red Wings, and one was right at the very end.  Since it literally takes 90 minutes for my Powerbook to mix and convert, I didn't have time last night to go back and bleep.  The rest of the show is 100% safe, just those two instances.  Sorry!

This week is totally different from a "normal" episode of TOV, if there is such a thing as a "normal" episode... This past weekend I went to the FX Toy Show at the Orlando Convention Center.  While I was there I happened to catch a Q&A Panel with George Takei (Kaito Nakamura), Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman), and Stephen Tobolowsky (Bob) from the cast of Heroes.  I know that a bunch of people who listen to ToV are Heroes fans, so this one is for them.  If you're not a Heroes fan, listen anyways because the guys basically talk about random pop culture as well.  Of course there's a running commentary by me and "ABC..." Hola!This week we head to Epcot for the 15th Annual Walt Disney World Marathon.Ignore the wind... it was windy (obviously...)At Epcot we celebrate victory for many runners of the WDW MArathon and 1/2 Marathon, and those Goofy people who ran both, and also the insane people who ran the 5k, the 1/2, and the full marathon on the same weekend!!! (Seriously... WTF!?!?!)While I'm there I come across some slacking custodial who think that they should take their break onstage counting down the seconds until they work again like they're beating on a drum or something. It's the last week of Food and Wine!  Noooooooooooooooo! So of course we had to hang out and have some delicious beverages....  The beverages happened to be Sam Adams, and some of them happened to be free thanks to The Boston Beer Company's Sam Adams Seminar!  Of course after that we hung around in the area to buy some more beer at the Sam Adams tent.  Some guy happened to be singing some songs that we're pretty sure that he didn't sing originally...  He was fun though. So this week is a time warp episode...  I recorded it the day after the last episode, yet didn't get a chance to finish it until yesterday. For our first anniversary we went to Discovery Cove to swim with dolphins, stingrays, sharks, and barrcudas!  I think this is a first for Orlando podcasting, and I hope you enjoy the experience...  I know we sure did and we can't wait to go back!!! I'm back! (Again...) Join the Bleepin' Wife and I as we take in one of Florida's Historical Attractiona, Weeki Wachee Springs.  Lately the park's fate has been up in the air, so now is the time to take it all in.  Both the Bleepin' Wife and I highly recommend taking the drive from Central Florida over to the Coast to enjoy the wonderful experience that they offer. This episode is a little bit different from the norm, because it involves a combination of storytelling and attraction audio, yet not the audio that you'd expect to hear... Have fun! Woot! Finally got a chance to hit the parks after our short vacation and working at 6am-6pm every day (and being exhausted when I'm through!) Last night after work I found some of the best AC in World Showcase while relaxing in Impressions de France. This is one of the most relaxing and beautiful shows in WDW. Since it features scenery and music instead of showing the people of the country, it doesn't date itself like Canada & Norway. It's one of my favorite movies in the Park, and I discovered something that I never really realized before...

Woot! Back from Westfest and boy are the Bleepin' Wife and I TIRED!!! After we wander around looking for other Westfest attendees, we head to Sea World Orlando to take in Pets Ahoy! eing Spring Break, the Bleepin' Wife and I skipped the parks on our days off because the crowds are evil! Although I took one for the team and hit Epcot on Saturday night to take a voyage on the Mexican Boat Ride, I mean the Gran Fiesta Tour starring the Three Caballeros. After that I take a leisurely stroll around World Showcase stopping to plop in a couch and listen to some music in a Flower & Garden Festival Display, and finally head to North Montana as I catch Fiddler's Joy performing on the stage there. I almost forgot!!! There's about 30 seconds of Paul Revere and the Raiders in there as well... I caught the very eng of their show. Everything's wrapped up with either the best or worst Earlioke ever. I have no idea how Earlioke spun so far out of control, (and why you people keep sending me email encouraging me to keep doing it!?!?!) bonus points for the first person who figures out and posts what the connection is between the song and where I went in the episode.

Originally I intended to hit Mardi Gras at Universal to catch the Doobie Brothers.  That didn't happen. In my opinion, I found something better!  Each week on the "small stage" they bring in musical acts directly from New Orleans.  This week was Big Sam's Funky Nation, and performed 30 minutes of non-stop high energy funk!  After watching their set, I really didn't think that the Doobie Brothers could've topped it, so I left.  :) Have fun! I have enough audio to spread through a couple shows, but this week we take in the World Famous Gatorland Jumparoo and the Aligator Wrestling show.  I've been going there for quite some time, but this visit was the first time I saw a woman aligator wrestler.  It could be that they've had women wrestlers for years but I just never happened to be there when they were working, who knows...  Anyways we had a great time and will probably be visiting again in the future.  The Bleepin' Wife had never been there before and loved it! Oh, I almost forgot the death defying stupid stunts!  We also feed the gators hot dogs on sticks, and then I take in Gatorland's Adventure Hour where I paid $10 to go on the other side of the fence and feed the gators up close from 3 feet away!  That was perhaps the coolest thing that I've done in quite a while!  I'd like to thank Gatorland employee, Chris for convincing me to do it and carrying the big stick! The Gatorland staff is among the friendliest in the area.  The all seem to have a passion for what they do and where they work. Have fun!

The start of TOV this week was recorded live at Epcot at the DPN MiniMeet. I forgot to mention that Silverwolf2006 was also there. (Sorry manâ) This week we take the Vacation Neice and Nephew to the Parks. We see the Yeti at Animal Kingdom and head over to the Disney-MGM Studios to hop on the Tower of Terror. This month, both the Meandering Mouse Podcast and the Disney Podcast Network are celebrating their first anniversary. As a way of saying thanks to Jeff, I'm going back in my time machine phone booth and revisiting the first emails and clips that Jeff sent in to Trapped on Vacation back in November of 2005 when he pretty much became a co-host of TOV for a few months.  Without his contributions, I'm pretty positive that I would've given up and gotten bored with this gig back in December of '05.  Now of course with the DPN, I'm not doing this for listeners, I'm creating this show as a way of hanging out with friends that live around the world.  Just last night the Bleepin' Wife and I were discussing the fact that some of our closest friends live across the country, and many of them we didn't know just 10 months ago!  Strange but true. So thanks for everything Jeff, here's to another great year! We're back from Colorado!  No broken bones, but no vacation audio either because I discovered that binaural mics don't work when they're covered by big wooly hats or brain buckets.  No biggie, I still had a great time! This week Trapped on Vacation gets attacked by the Evil Pause Button of Death!!! All day on Thursday I kept accidentally pausing while recording.  Did I ever learn my lesson???   H3ll no!!!  Why?  Because Iâm an idiotâ    Actually I was having too much fun hanging out with Auntie Lo and SilverJeeper (plus the Bleepinâ Wife of course) that I just wasnât paying attention. So this week we hit Big Thunder, followed by the biggest pause button disappointment of the day (18 seconds of heartache.)  We then head on over and get our Buzz on in Tomorrowland.   This week is also the first installment of DrDuckâs trip to Tokyo Disney Resort!  When I met him and his family at Epcot a few months ago, he gave me literally hours of audio. Hey! I'm back and exhausted! Before Mousefest I said that it was just another typical week here at WDW for me. In a way it was since I had to work, but then again in a typical week I we usually spend about 6.5 hours playing in the Parks.  This week we spent more time playing than I did working, and I still worked my usual 40! Thankfully the DPN Cool Kids are gone and I can get back to normal... Hey!  This week The Bleepin Wife, Mimi (remember her?) and I head on over to one of the oldest (and newest) attractions  in Central Florida, Cypress Gardens Adventure Park.  If you have an annual pass to any theme park, you can get into Cypress Gardens for free up until December 24th for as many times as you'd like! We had a great time and would highly recommend the park to anyone who wants a break from the norm.  It's very quaint, I mean incredibly quaint.  So take yer Disney AP over there and relax! Woot! I'm back after a short haitus in Tallahassee (it was a good time if you're wondering...) WONDERS OF LIFE IS OPEN!!!!!!! So of course on day one (Sunday) I was there. Come along and learn where babies come from in the Making of Me, and then after you make a baby, 12 years later that baby grows up to be a child of the 80s in Cranium Command! This week we head to the 11th annual Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.  Performing as part of the Eat to the Beat Series was Starship, either one of the best, or one of the worst bands of the last 20 years depending on your point of view. This is probably among my favorite episodes to date, not because of the content, but because of that fact that the Vacation Fiancee and I had a great time listening, watching, and especially making fun of the Band.  Usually I don't listen to the entire show when I finish, but I had to listen to it all the way through once I started because I couldn't stop smiling! The first song has loud levels, and I noticed it while recording, so when the song finished I stopped recording and lowered the levels a bit, so the rest of the set sounds much better! Due to time constraints, I did little editing or cutting, and no bleeping whatsoever.   I really don't remember using any foul language, however the VF and I discussed some adult topics in regards to groupies of 80's bands.   Music at the end is by "The Chicken Nuggets"  you can find them on iTunes!

Took a week off due to my trip to Michigan (and a few other personal reasons...)   This week I have some Audio from the Orlando International Airport (MCO) that I took when I landed.  Then I head over to Sea World and I take in the program that replaced Budweiser Beer School:  The Brew Masters Club.  What a great time!!! I wrap it all up with a quick review of the International Food & Wine Festival, and I do mean QUICK! After some technical glitches, ToV 45 is finally up! This week I continue with the Trapped on Vacation 3D Film Festival as we hit Spiderman at UNiversal Studios Islands of Adventure. Then we investigate how the Mythos Restaurant can be the best Theme PArk Restaurant in the World if it's never open... After that we head to the Disney-MGM Studios (with a nod to Jeff from Houston with the travel directions) and hit Rock N Roller Coaster for a very interesting ride w/ no on ride audio and music... Because it was my birthday this week I sat around the house and did nothing and loved it! So no new park audio this week, and that means that the 3D audio film festival is "paused" for a week. It'll return for next week's show because I'm heading out to play on Wednesday. So this week I'm continuing my St. Augustine Ripley's Trip with some more messed up goodness. After that I pop back into the wayback machine and head to Episode 9 where I took in ET at Universal Studios. As quick reminder, I've included my ToV language policy that I laid down while wandering towards the Children's and ET area at USF. ;) Congrats to DPN forum listener sbabs for winning the first ever Trapped on Vacation contest that no one even knew was happening! Back in the January 8th show I hid a message in the ID3 tags of the show that said "The first one to read this wins 5 Disney Dollars." It took 6 months, but someone found it! So you might want to read the tags because you never know if you'll find something cool! (Get Info under the File Menu in iTunes) I assure that the ducking and ending at perfect moments in my closing segment was unintentional. I just happened to pause and finish at exact the right times in the song to make it funny, so I left it in as is! (I always pop in the music into GarageBand after I rant so I never know how it's going to sound...) I was going to play the entire song over like I usually do w/o me talking, but the timing was just right so I didn't!

This week we take a take a look at Walt's predictions for entertainment and communication for 2006. After that we head to Universal Studios to take in our third movie in our 3D series, Shrek 3D. Shrek also happens to be my favorite out of all of the 3D movies in Orlando. It's just well done, and the detail in the queue is both well done and hilarious! At the start, I promise audio from our trip to Ripley's Believe it or Not in St. Augustine, but I ran out of time and just tossed in a teaser at the end of one exhibit. This week we avoid the parks because of the Easter holiday chaos. Instead of the normal stuff, we went to the historic Bok sanctuary. Enjoy some nature, hear some history and sit bact and enjoy the music of the bell tower! My favorite song is around 28:30 or so! After Bok Tower, we head over to Spook Hill where you can stop your car on a line and it'll roll backwards up a small hill. It's really an amazing place!

This week I wander around Epcot and take you to what used to be one of my favorite attractions featuring everyone's favorite dragon-like creature Figment! I looked forward and kept my head straight just like Paul Barrie suggested, so if my Haunted Mansion audio made your head spin you should be ok with this. After that we have about a four minute musical interlude from Soarin'.... Everything gets wrapped up in the end with the 7th Inning Stretch fome the Detroit Tigers Spring Training game vs the Braves. Hey! This week I take you on a ride around the Backlot of the Disney-MGM Studios, featuring Catastrophe Canyon. It's that time again! Time for another strange trip through Orlando! First I take you to Old Town to visit the Wax Museum and ride the Roller Coaster, then Jeff takes you to Norway! Hi everyone! This week I'm on vacation in Keystone, CO, and Jeff is on Vacation in Orlando at WDW... But through the magic of podcasting, Jeff's bringing us stuff from Disneyland, and I'm taking you to both Islands of Adventure and Tubing down a mountain in Keystone! For some weird and wacky reason, Jeff's segment has some compression that makes him a bit garbled. It wasn't like this when he sent it to me! This week we head (again) to Universal Studios to take in one of the worst attractions in Orlando, which happens to be one of my favorites because of the cheesy and horrible narration by Bill Paxton. This show was originally recorded on Christmas Eve at the Adventurer's Club at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island. I've been going to the AC as a tradition since 1998 when I first moved to Florida. Our current group of friends and family has been going for four years. Hopefully after listening you'll see why! I meant to pop this up earlier in the week, but due to Christmas Shopping, I got delayed! But it's still earlier than normal... This week we see Epcot's Candlelight Processional. I included some but not all of the music due to the fact that you can purchase the CD at Epcot. We love Eartha Kitt!!! After that is the Holiday portions of Illuminations! Wow! The Holidays are in full swing around WDW! This week we travel to the Country Bear Christmas Show, then experience a bit of Epcot! Jeff also takes us along for a ride on the newly reopened Space Mountain at Disneyland! Oh, and of course there's beer! Can't forget that!

In this episode I hung out with folks in town for Mousefest 2005 and RADP 10. We went to the Ft. Wilderness Campfire Sing-a-Long and then to the Electric Water Pageant on the shore of Bay Lake. Note: The Campfire Sing-a-long is cheesy, yet just what you'd expect from a campfire sing-a-long, so it's fun! I edited the songs down to easy to listen to chunks since the sing-a-long is 30 minutes long. On Friday, November 18th, I went to the DisneyHand Helping Kids Shine Ride-a-Thon to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. The Ride-a-Thon used to be know as the Fantasyland 5k, but the name was changed a couple years ago when they added Tomorrowland attractions to the event. Over 5000 WDW Castmembers as well as employees and families from Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children in Orlando, and Shands Hospital in Gainesville attended the event. Children's Miracle Network hospitals treat 17 million children for every disease and injury imaginable. They impact the lives of more children than any other children's organization in the world. Children's hospitals provide state-of-the-art care, life-saving research and preventative education for children 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There is a Children's Miracle Network hospital dedicated to serving children in every community across the United States and Canada. I got this done just in time for Halloween! I recorded it on Saturday night, but ran into a few problems with skipping audio, so everything was delayed and I had to fix it. Now I know that I shouldn't run 8,000 apps when I'm recording on the patio! This Halloween episode is something completely different than I'm sure you're expecting. I think it's kinda funny... This is the most fun I've had recording a show to date! I popped the iRiver and microphone in a waterproof bag (made for cellphones and kayaking) and went to Blizzard Beach! There is a little rustling of the mic/bag, but I think that's ok. After that we went to Epcot.(yes, I'm not alone on this one!) I did something different while riding Spaceship Earth, instead of recording the Jeremy Irons narration, I held the microphone outside of the car so you can hear the background audio. After you've ridden it 1000 times, Jeremy Irons' voice sorta gets ignored and you pay more attention to the surroundings, which is why I did it. I hope you have as much fun listening to this episode as we had recording it! Have fun! The other players in this Episode are Melissa (my GF) and Girl #2 who also works at WDW so she'll remain nameless like me. (I need a nickname/handle!) Edit: Apologies to Jeff from Houston!!!! Join me as I venture to Sea World for a quick evening visit! It's my first show outside of WDW, and I was very curious and cautious as to how to handle myself with a microphone. I found that people cared even less there than at WDW, so next time I'll have a bit more fun! while riding Krakken, my battery cover on the iRiver came open so I held on to it with my hand covering the entire device including the microhopne. Oops! Next time I'm using the ext. mic w/ cord.

Holy cow did this take a long time! After moving into the Vacation Home, I got a chance to take a break from working and went to Epcot for about an hour! Then my iRiver went batty and I lost about 1/3 of my audio. When I salvaged and edited it on THursday night, Audacity crashed just as I was finishing up! Of course I didn't save. So I did it again, and saved often. And here it is for your enjoyment! Have fun!

This week marks the 7th Anniversary of my move to Florida that started my eternal vacation (at least when I'm not working.) So to mark this event, I went to the Magic Kingdom to revisit a few of the things that I did on my very first visit after I moved here. Sit back, relax, and enjoy! Note: I realized after I recorded that my iRiver was set to "Mono" so the Visivox microphone didn't record at %100 quality.

Here is Episode #2, where I travel south of the border and head to Mexico. I'm still getting used to "talking to myself" in public without drawing too much attention to myself. But all in all I'm satisified with the audio, especially the audio of the Mariachi Cobre band in the pavilion!
