burntwire.tv Episodes - | 48HFP2009: Side effects may include... | Play in Popup. | An official (on time) submission for the 48 Hour Film Project 2009, San Francisco. One of 70 teams to compete in this year's event. Claude Green is a man who wants it all and will do whatever it takes to achieve the american dream, whether that means spending money he doesn't have or taking prescription drugs to satisfy his shortcomings. Through a series of six vignettes, Claude expresses his consumeristic tendencies in pantomime, and becomes the victim of his own desire as the central character in a progression of television advertisements - which ultimately drive him to his comedic demise. |

| BWTV35: Empty November | Play in Popup. | On Wednesday November 8th, a cargo ship hit the Bay Bridge and spilled 58,000 gallons of oil into the bay. After the recent oil spill, I went to Ocean Beach on the following Tuesday to see the aftermath. The beach looked pretty clean and it was a warm, sunny day, despite the ecological tragedy. It sounds like a lot of the damage could have been averted if they had acted to clean up the spill sooner. Empty green waves like these should serve to remind us how great a gift we are given to live next to the ocean, and that we all need to do our part to protect it. Shot in 1080i HDV. Camera/Editing: Colin Murray. |

| BWTV06: horsemeat | Play in Popup. | Horsemeat is a political satire mock-doc that makes fun of a law that dis-allows the human consumption of horsemeat. It is an ineffective law that tries to define morality as it applies to human treatment of animals that are considered pets. The irony of the law is that it does not prevent the use of horsemeat as dogfood nor do anything to curb the worldwide human consumption of horsemeat (153,000 tons/year). In fact, the system of recycling horse carcass is quite efficient and useful. This is an example of useless moral legislation. The meaning of horsemeat is not to protest any law in particular, but to protest the excessive law in our daily lives and the silliness of some laws in general. This is after all the 'land of the free'. |

| BWTV02: war protest | Play in Popup. | This video documents the start of a pro peace march that traveled from Delores Park in the Mission to Jefferson park in the Western Addition. Several thousand people gathered at the sunny hillside park to express their outrage and opposition to the Bush Administration's policy of imperialism and racism at home, in the Middle East and around the world. September 24th has been a day of protest against the war in Iraq since before the official start of the occupation, and we the conscious citizens of the United States continue to resist this immoral and illegal invasion of the sovereign country of Iraq. A full length video of the march will be available soon; Contact bbc 415[at] hotmail.com for details. |
