In this week's episode of FOR SKYBIRD... Iran says it will not stop enriching uranium as a precondition for potential talks with the United States and European allies. President Bush wants Iran to respond to an offer from the international community by next month. Iran wants to wait until August... Officials in France and elsewhere called Tuesday for a strong response by the international community to any possible missile test by North Korea. A senior U.S. official says the possible North Korean missile test is raising alarm in Asia as well... President Bush says Iran faces greater isolation and heavier sanctions, if it rejects an international package of incentives to suspend uranium enrichment. Mr. Bush spoke in New York, hours before his scheduled departure to Vienna for a U.S.-E.U. summit, where Iran's nuclear program is expected to be a focal point of discussions... The Defense Department says in the absence of any statement by the North Korean government it will not be possible to know whether a widely expected missile launch is a test or an attack...

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says he considers an offer of incentives by the U.S. and other nations a step forward in solving the controversy over his country's nuclear programs. The Iranian leader spoke after attending a summit in China of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, where he sought to gain further support for Iran's position from China and Russia. The Bush administration says it expects North Korea to maintain a moratorium on long-range missile testing and to return to six-party talks on its nuclear program. An unarmed Minuteman III ICBM was launched from Launch Facility-04 on North Vandenberg at 1:22 a.m. June 14.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the United States has not been asked to provide security guarantees to Iran to help resolve the crisis over its nuclear program The Bush administration said Thursday it would consider talks on a formal peace treaty with North Korea, if Pyongyang returned to the six-party talks on its nuclear program and committed to disarm. The Chinese-sponsored negotiations have been idle since November The United States has presented a draft treaty aimed at cutting off production of fissile material, the plutonium and uranium used in making nuclear weapons. A U.S. disarmament official outlined details of the proposal to the 65-member United Nations Conference on Disarmament in Geneva Lt. Gen. Frank G. Klotz, Vice Commander of Air Force Space Command, visited the 90th Space Wing on May 15, to learn among other things, how the wing, 20th Air Force and the command are preparing for the upcoming Capabilities Demonstration Exercise (CAPEX) The European Union says it will offer Iran an incentive package to abandon its controversial nuclear program. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Lieutenant General Kevin P. The United Nations Security Council has given Iran until the end of the month to suspend its uranium enrichment activity - a process that could either be used for civilian purposes or to build nuclear weapons.
