Kodak - Interview with Photographer John Sexton and Kodak's Scott DiSabato About the New T-MAX 400 Film
Download Podcast Here After meeting both John Sexton and Scott DiSabato at the 2007 Photoplus Expo in New York, I sit down with them and discuss the introduction of the new T-MAX-400 B&W film. John goes into some detail regarding the films ability and his impressions from use. As more and more digital cameras are introduced, I wanted to find what Kodak's thinking was in introducing a new film and who the possible users are. Also, John discusses his workflow with the film and how and why he uses film for his work. A fascinating chat with two ends of the spectrumâa film manufacturer and a film user. PhotoWorks - Interview - Lanae Weir
From a simple and unusual mail order processing house to a major player in the digital imaging marketplace, PhotoWorks has bootstrapped itself into the 21st century.I speak with Lanae Weir about the origins of the company, when they made prints and slides from film they provided (mot Kodak), to today, not only a purveyor of prints from your digital files, but a one-stop web presence where you can get prints from film or digital, purchase books, calendars and gifts, and become involved in various social communities where you can share your pictures and your thoughts.Photoworks is important in the photographic industry due to its history, predating digital photography, and also as it is still thinking of how to add to our overall photographic experiences. There aren't many photographic companies that started by selling unusual film and prints via mail-order and are still around.

The copyright owner or an authorized agent defines a stock photograph as one that already exists and is available for licensing. What Makes A Good Stock Photo? A good stock photo is one that evokes emotion, tells a story and can stand by itself without a detailed caption. SDI Vol2No14 April 17, 2006 - The Wonder of Fill Flash
Using a flash to fill in deep shadows can add dimension to your images. If you have a particularly contrasty image, you can use a flash to lighten the shadows and return the image to what you thought you saw with your eyes when you shot the image. Besides discussing fill flash for both point-and-shoot cameras and SLR cameras, I also discuss a Photoshop method of "fill" for images where you didn't use a flash to fillÃïïsaving older images. ACDSee Interview ReRun - March 26, 2006
Somehow, over the past weeks, I lost the podcast for ACD Systems, featuring their ACDSee 8 and ACDSee Pro photo managers. This podcast was an interview that went into some depth about the products and I have been asked many times to restore this lost episode, so here it is again. Click here to listen to or download Secrets of Digital Imaging ACDSee episode in MP3 format. The ACDSee Photo Managers are important products for all of us digital photographers, as they assist in cataloging your collection as well as perform some vital editing functions. If you are a Windowsâ user, you need to take a strong look at owning a photo manager and the ACDSee programs are, in my opinion, the best of breed. Download the trials and see for yourself. There is value in making certain you have everything in order, ready to go, at a moments notice. SDI Vol2No9 20060227 - I Answer Listener's email Questions
Over the past weeks, I have received some listener email that have posed interesting questions. On this podcast, I answer some the interesting items and expand, in some places, where appropriate. Show Time: 30 minutes 28 seconds (14.3 MB) email from Roy: Could you quickly explain and or make a cast on explaining the lenses for these cameras, what does the mm mean and also the f number. My understanding it’s the size of the aperture? IS it the maximum size the aperture can go? email from Marcus: ...(sending shows on CD) I would like to encourage you to offer this great compilation to the masses. I think that's a great resource for someone collecting shows or having a slow internet connection (which is still quite usual here in europes non-city homes) and a good, innovative idea in general. I think you will have interested people buying your CD. email from Brian: I just wanted to say thanks for your hard efforts in creating those beautiful podcast. I just figured it would be nice to hear feedback from your fans to let you know that, "YES" we are listening and we love your program. email from Cesca: I've just recently got broadband and am discovering the wonderful world of podcasts. I'm slowly working my way through your 'Secrets of Digital Imaging' podcasts (3 so far), and finding them wonderfully accessible and useful. Maybe by the time I get through them, I will have evolved from an amateur to an 'advanced amateur'. email from Eduardo: I've been doing the same with my photography blog (in Spanish) and have found it to be manageable. http://www.mueses.com/blog/ http://www.mueses.com/photografia/ email from Mike: I just finished listening to podcast Vol 1 No. 9... Fake Photography... I disagree with your sisters point of view 100%. Just an opinion, but I think that the only way to capture a true moment in time is in your mind as a memory. Film can't even do that. I look at it like live music. If you go to a concert, you will never experience that "moment" on a live CD. Can't be done. I hope she is taking digital pictures now,(I know that was more than a half year ago when you did the interview) email from Ian: The question i have came to mind when you reviewed ACDSee: i wanted to know if tasks like levels, curves, unsharp mask... that are bundled in various applications all work as well as each other or whether performing the same tasks within photoshop will yield different results? also I wanted to know about the settings that appear in all of the inkjet (an presumably other) printer software interfaces. If i take a special image and spend hours editing it as detailed in your podcasts to optimise sharpening for the output image size.... then should i simply go through the settings in the printer software (that crop up as options in the print dialogue) and disable them? I'm talking about things like colour correction, digital flash, sharpness etc... Click here to listen to or download Secrets of Digital Imaging Vol2No9 in MP3 format. Vol1No27 - One True Media - 20Nov2005
One True Media gift ideas for the holidays - photo books and DVD montages. I had an opportunity to speak with Mark Moore, one of the founder's of One True Media about their services. I believe they are on to something with the amount of digital images and videos shot annually. Their method of digitizing your "memories" works in two dimensions. The obvious is having scenes and still images available for you to edit and use to make books and DVDs with the software on their web site, but the other dimension, so well in my head after the catastrophes of the hurricanes, tornados and other horrors, is in completely saving all of your collections. That One True Media stores everything, and makes it available online, is fantastic "insurance".
