2012 PREVIEW: Mayhem and Carnage Straight Up | Play in Popup.
When Roland Emmerich destroys the world, he does it with a certain panache. Independence Day, Godzilla, Day After Tomorrow are some of his previous epic disaster movies and 2012 looks to be kicking it up yet again. With an off-beat cast including genre favourites like John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Woody Harrelson, the Mayan doomsday is compounded by a government conspiracy and some of the biggest scale earth-ending images we've ever seen!~Matt + Nat

ASTRO BOY REVIEW: Onward and Upward | Play in Popup.
http://YourGeekNews.com for more! After having our hopes for a good Japanese cartoon adaptation dashed by the Wachowski’s Speed Racer, our hopes were high for Imagi Studios to bring us some good old-fashioned CGI manga true to the original. And bring it they did. In the form of a very well made kids movie that brought us both back to the early 80’s. And treated us like we had the same brainpower we had in the 80’s. A childrens’ movie 100%, Astro Boy fires on all cylinders for kids, and gives parents a good excuse to watch a cartoon inspired by their own childhood. So if you don't have any, go borrow some kids from someone you know, and you’ll look right at home in the theatre!~Matt + Nat

REVIEW: WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE | Play in Popup.
We both had very mixed about Wild Things. But even with Nat not finding anything to sympathize with in the character of Max, and Matt finding the narrative run out of steam halfway through, we still couldn't find it in our hearts to dislike this movie. It's just somehow very special in spite of any faults is may have. Between the gorgeous effects work, incredible voice talent and breathtaking cinematography of a world we've never really seen before, Jonze did manage to capture something with this movie. That something just wasn't a perfect film. ~Matt + Nat

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE PREVIEW: Sendak + Jonze = Awesome? | Play in Popup.
Watch scenes from the movie and interviews with the cast and crew! It's taken decades to finally happen, but Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book, Where the Wild Things Are has finally been adapted to the silver screen. The only thing less predictable is that the director who would accomplish this feat is Spike Jonze! With a history of wild music videos and MTV's Jackass under his belt, he'd seem an unlikely choice, but he's been friends with Sendak for years and after plenty of buzz about re-fanging the controversial 60's book for a modern audience, this creature effect driven story about childhood is finally ready!

Columbus wasn't kidding when he said Zombieland is moist, but we enjoyed the hell out of Ruben Fleischer's debut ride! In keeping with our apparent theme of beloved characters who die in the back-10 of the final season, Nat had the chance to chat with Michael Trucco, the actor behind Samuel T. Anders, the resistance-fighter-turned-cylon (or would he really be the cylon-turned-resistance-fighter?). ZOMBIELAND PREVIEW: Horror/Comedy/Buddy/Road-Movie | Play in Popup.
Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg look like they make an incredible comedic duo in Ruben Fleischer's directorial debut, Zombieland, but there's a delicate balance to ride between that comedy and the horror elements that makes Zombie movies really knock it out of the park. We're both easily as excited about this one as we were about any summer movies that came our way, whether that's because Matt loves him some Sam Raimi-style horror/comedy or because Nat has an abnormally active imagination when it comes to surviving a Zombie pandemic, you can bet we'll be inline for the midnight screening! ~Matt + Nat

SURROGATES REVIEW: Where's Steeplejack? | Play in Popup.
Did Bruce Willis and Jonathan Mostow do justice to the critically acclaimed five-part comic written by Robert Venditti? You already know from the trailers that the stakes have gone up from the comic plot: now the operators die as well when the surrogates are fried. But did that ruin the entire motivation of "Steeplejack"? Or does this change in the plot give a whole new and higher message to Surrogates? INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS REVIEW: Quentin’s Finest? | Play in Popup.
Maybe it's because Matt is such a Spaghetti Western fan. Maybe it's because Nat was so taken by Christoph Waltz deliciously evil performance. Maybe it's simply the incredible 2.5 hours of brilliant film making. But one way or another, we both loved Basterds more than any other Tarantino we've ever seen. INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS PREVIEW: Tarantino's Macaroni Combat | Play in Popup.
Quentin is bringing us something the world hasn't really seen in theatres since the 70's -- a spaghetti western style World War II movie set in Nazi Germany behind enemy lines. With Brad Pitt... that part's new. With a great cast of international talent, at least three languages and more Nazi scalping than you can put in a single movie trailer, it looks like Tarantino's latest is a sight to behold. At least, that's what the folks at the Cannes Film Fest thought. What about you? Let us know what you're expecting! Another piece of genius from the world's biggest movie fan? http://YourGeekNews.com to comment! We've been looking forward to this one since the very first "For Human Use Only" bus shelters started popping up in our city, and the early teasers made this look like a sci-fi film the likes of which we've never seen. If you have a chance to track down a theatre playing this award winning Korean Vampire film from the Director of Old Boy, you will not be disappointed. G.I.JOE REVIEW: Seriously, Can We Get A Time Refund? | Play in Popup.
Dear sweet lord… this was seven shades of atrocious, and we’re not even sure where to begin. Not even Destro and Cobra Commander could save it. In fact, they might be Matt’s most hated part of the entire film. Or was it the American Good-guy Baroness? Or maybe the terrible lead actors? No, it might have been seeing the entire Snake Eyes/Stormshadow mysterious backstory told in horribly inelegant flashbacks all in one movie. Hard to say, really. ~Matt + Nat

TRANSFORMERS 2 REVIEW: It was... good? Unexpected. | Play in Popup.
Michael Bay stunned us. Not only was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen an entertaining enough film to keep Nat's attention for 150-long minutes, but Matt, (who RAILED against the 2007 film as a classic G1 80's Transformer fan) actually enjoyed this one, too! The wounds from Bay's painful reimagining of the Transformers have healed in the last two years, and a Mute, Camaro Bumblebee doesn't offend us quite as much as it used to. Maybe that's what helped make this sequel SUCH an improved experience over the original!~Matt + Nat

If you go back to our 2007 review on http://YourGeekNews.com, Matt was on a bit of a tirade about how terrible of an adaptation Michael Bay’s first Transformers film was. Now that all the wounds have healed, Bumblebee is a Camaro, Jazz is dead and Optimus has flames on his trailerless tractor trailer, it’s time to see if this re-imagined Transformerverse has a good story to tell in it. WOLVERINE REVIEW: Multiple Endings = Multiple Viewings? | Play in Popup.
To say that Wolverine has multiple endings isn't exactly correct, but it does have multiple post-credit bonus scenes. Much like the post-credit Nick Fury scene in Iron Man, or the Tony Stark scene in Incredible Hulk, X-Men Origins: Wolverine gives you a reason to sit through the credits… and it’s hard to know which one you’ll be getting since Gavin Hood has put at least two different versions out in theatres, that we know of. We’ve seen two different endings, one that’s Deadpool-centric and once that’s Japan-based, but it won't take long to get to the bottom of how many there are, and to see them all! ~Matt + Nat

With interviews with Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Henney and director Gavin Hood, the advanced preview clips we've got for you from Wolverine are high octane, funny, and classic Wolverine; just the thing to make Matt want to grow a mean set of mutton chops year round! It's been three movies of watching Logan share the screen with other mutants while we pretended he wasn't the main character... and now we don't have to pretend anymore. X-Men Origins: Wolverine centres on everyone's favourite Candian Ball of Berserker Rage, and makes no apologies for it. With Hugh Jackman producing the film as well as starring, it looks like the man who might just know Logan best is shouldering a lot of the responsibility in bringing us his origin story well. ~Matt + Nat

Some good, some not so good, but this version is by no means the final film we’ll be seeing in theatres in May. This week's episode featured a stellar performance from Michael Hogan during the plot about Tigh and Six's baby in the wake of Ellen's return, and curious side-plots about Baltar's Harem and Galactica's paint drying... yet we couldn't help but feel like this episode came up short on actual plot. Gaeta’s Mutiny is on, and we’ve got murder on the Galactica… it’s like the start of Season two, Cylons not included. And that’s where all the terrifying goodies are. It goes without saying that we loved the episode, and watching one of our most beloved characters get on the wrong side of Adama made use both very uncomfortable. Now THAT’s good TV.~Matt + Nat

UNDERWORLD RISE OF THE LYCANS: Review + Preview | Play in Popup.
Since we got all the goodies from Sony so late, we weren't able to make a proper preview for Underworld, so we've incorporated a few words of wisdom from the cast and crew into our regular review style. What did we think? Well, we knew what we were getting, not only because it's a prequel and the story was already given away back in 2003, but because we know what to expect from an Underworld movie: Vampires and Werewolves taken deadly serious no matter how absurd the story. And we love it that way. Sure the second film in the series was an ungodly piece of crap, but hey, not everything is Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. ~Matt + Nat

THE SPIRIT REVIEW: It's Better Than You've Been Told! | Play in Popup.
When we went to the theatre, neither of us really wanted to be there... possibly lower expectations than we've ever had for any film ever. Maybe that's why we enjoyed "The Spirit" more than anyone we've talked to. It's a film noir comicbook that takes Frank Miller's last film, "Sin City", and re-applies every single trick he knows to great effect. Despite all the poor reviews for it, we think that if you liked "Sin City", there's really no reason that you'd dislike "The Spirit"! ~Matt + Nat
