Chelmsford Church of Christ Episodes - | Sunday Lesson. January 8, 2006 | No Turning Back - Living the Surrendered Life. Lesson 10
Scripture reading - Mark 9:2-9.
After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone.
There he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.
And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three sheltersone for you, one for Moses
and one for Elijah." (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!"
Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.Listen to the lesson audio, or read the lesson notes(PDF) on our church web site. | Get at Short URL | Download Sunday Lesson. | Sunday Lesson. January 1, 2006 | What Does It Matter?
Scripture reading - Acts 4:13-22.
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were
astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. But since they could see the man who had
been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say. So they ordered them to withdraw
from the Sanhedrin and then conferred together. "What are we going to do with these men?" they asked.
"Everybody living in Jerusalem knows they have done an outstanding miracle, and we cannot deny it.
But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn these men to speak no
longer to anyone in this name."
Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
But Peter and John replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God.
For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard."
After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were
praising God for what had happened. For the man who was miraculously healed was over forty years old.

| Sunday Lesson. December 4, 2005 | No Turning Back - Living the Surrendered Life Lesson 9
Scripture reading - 2 Corinthians 11:7-9.
Was it a sin for me to lower myself in order to elevate you by preaching the gospel of God to you free of charge?
I robbed other churches by receiving support from them so as to serve you.
And when I was with you and needed something, I was not a burden to anyone, for the brothers who
came from Macedonia supplied what I needed. I have kept myself from being a burden to you in any way,
and will continue to do so.

| Sunday Lesson. November 20, 2005 | No Turning Back - Living the Surrendered Life Lesson 7
Scripture reading - Mark 7:24-28.
Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it;
yet he could not keep his presence secret. In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter
was possessed by an evil spirit came and fell at his feet. The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia.
She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.
"First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."
"Yes, Lord," she replied, "but even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."

| Sunday Lesson. November 13, 2005 | Spiritual Leadership in the 21st century
Scripture reading - 1 Peter 5:1-4.
To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings
and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God's flock
that is under your care, serving as overseers-not because you must, but because you are willing, as God
wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you,
but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the
crown of glory that will never fade away.

| Sunday Lesson. November 6, 2005 | No Turning Back - Living the Surrendered Life Lesson 6
Scripture reading - Mark 6:30-44.
The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.
Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat,
he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."
So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. But many who saw them
leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them.
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were
like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. "This is a remote place,"
they said, "and it's already very late. Send the people away so they can go to the surrounding
countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat."
But he answered, "You give them something to eat."
They said to him, "That would take eight months of a man's wages! Are we to go and spend
that much on bread and give it to them to eat?"
"How many loaves do you have?" he asked. "Go and see."
When they found out, they said, "Fiveand two fish."
Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. So they
sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. Taking the five loaves and the two fish
and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.
Then he gave them to his disciples to set before the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.
They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish.
The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.
