XS Megazine - Hip Hop Video Podcast Episodes - | XS Sports Freerunning | Play in Popup. | Zanshinstudios.com introduces us too the sport of Freerunning, also known as Parkour:
Free running is a physical discipline, in which participants (Free runners) attempt to pass all obstacles in their path in a smooth and fluid way. Free runners interact with their environment using movements such as vaulting, jumping, sommersaults and other acrobatic movements, creating an athletic and aesthetically pleasing way of moving.
Created by Sebastien Foucan and inspired by the similar discipline of parkour, free running differs as it incorporates elements of tricking as well. As such, it is a more creative and artistic way of moving, open to personal interpretation, rather than being focused upon moving along a route using only the most efficient and useful movements. Initially, the term free running was used interchangibly with parkour; however, as free runners became interested in aesthetics as well as useful movement, the two became different disciplines.
While free running and parkour share many common techniques, they have a fundamental difference in philosophy and intention. The aims of parkour are reach, the ability to quickly access areas that would otherwise be inaccessible, and escape, the ability to evade pursuers, while free running is concerned more with aesthetics.
Zanshinstudios.com The creators of Zanshin Studios we are people passionate about movement. They practice parkour, martial arts, tricking, gymnastics, break dancing etc. They find that all of these solo disciplines can compliment one another. Whether you jump, climb, kick, dance, or flip zanshin studios is a place you can call home. So basically Zanshin Studios is a web space to further the creation of movement, and will always continue to evolve and broaden their horizons.
Based in both Vancouver, Canada and Nassau, Bahamas the team hopes to revolutionize the art of movement and unite the world through training and hardwork. |

| XS Auto Blast! Urban Sportsbike Culture (WARNING: Extreme Content!) | Play in Popup. | In August 2002, a great brother by the name of Everett "E" McKethan Jr. passed while doing something he developed a passion for. That passion was riding his "9". This film and book are dedicated to him and those who have given their lives for the love of riding.
Even before BLAST became an idea, a book and a documentary, BLAST was the passing of a friend. "E"'s departure fueled a desire and inspired us to express the love for a lifestyle and culture.
BLAST is a collective of sharp and vivid reality. It is a documentary of the sportsbike culture that dominates D.C., Maryland including Baltimore, and Northern Virginia with those who ride for the love of speed, the thrill of stunts and style of profiling, revealed through pictures, live motorcycle action and interviews with street riders, artists, club racers, engineers, law enforcement and others.
In New York, tricks and stunts were bread and perfected. Sneakers, t-shirts and shorts are the uniform of the day. In the D.C. Metro area, riding boots, leathers, jeans, gloves and full face helmets are what you see in a blur at speeds of up to 200 mph.
BLAST is the heartbreak, beauty, fun and chances we take for that thrill and passion.
Through our trials and tribulations, we have realized that there are many different issues and concerns involved in this lifestyle, especially in the D.C. Metro area. The number one fact is that the playing ground is different. The freedom to ride far, fast and hard in Maryland plays a role in accidents, serious injuries and deaths. However in Baltimore, riders fight for room to ride freely on "quads" and dirtbikes without being harrassed by the police.
The freedom to post in Maryland and D.C. in numerous places gives riders the option to socialize with interesting people, and from this seeded our interaction with some of the most well-known and influential motorcycle clubs and individual riders.
BLAST is written, directed and produced by TAIGA GLOBAL. Cinematography and photography are also done by TAIGA GLOBAL. Music production is provided by B-LUV, Playboy Saints, and Trump Tyte.
We would like to give an honorable mention to John "Turtle" Moore of BLASTSQUAD and Reo Nelson for being supportive in our endeavors. Special thanks to Adrian "Buzzoman" Jones, Jeff Coles, William "Storyteller" Johnson, Rudy Blyden of One Shot Racing, Jason "Punisher" Scaggs of "D.C.'s Most Wanted", and Takeo Yokoyama of Honda, Research and Design Co., Ltd., Japan.
**BLAST is not in theatres at this moment, however we are currently in the post production phase, which includes editing, preparation of the soundtrack as well as acquiring a mass distribution contract with a major distributor. The projected date of release is Spring/Summer of 2006. |

| XS Mobile - Rick Ross | Play in Popup. | Life of a Real Hustler! Rick Ross is here to let a mf know what it is! If you dont know now you know Rick Ross is a BOSS!
Sometimes, if you put your hand on the rails, you can feel the train coming. It is in the air, on the tip of everyone is tongue. All there is to do is patiently wait. Every once in a while an artist comes along with the force of a natural element and the only thing you can do is get aboard or get out of the way. So, from the good people who brought you the Roc-A-Fella dynasty, the Snowstorm and the College Dropout, we would like to introduce you to the overnight sensation twelve years in the making: Rick Ross.
You can not go into a club, get into a car or walk down the block without hearing the clarion call keyboards of Ross earthquake of a debut single, Hustlin. It is the early front-runner for street anthem of the year. On one song alone, Ross has laid it all out there for you to see and hear. Over keyboards that would not sound out of place scoring the last scene of Scarface Ross posits himself as the Alpha Hustler. The hustler as superhero. But, unbelievably, it is only a taste.
On Ross debut LP, Port Of Miami, you are immediately immersed in a fully fleshed out world. As a member of the Slip-N-Slide (Trick Daddy, Trina) crew Rick Ross is part of a bubbling Miami scene that is sure to be making noise on Atlanta and Houston levels this year. But Ross Miami is unlike any one you are gonna see on a postcard. Rick Ross Miami is one where drug deals and dropped bodies happen in the shadows of Art Deco hotels and plush nightclubs. It is the luxury and the tragedy. It is an American Dream and an American Nightmare.
I see this album in the tradition of Reasonable Doubt and Ready To Die, says Ross. It is made to be a classic. It is made to make everyone stop and re-think the whole game.
That may sound like a heavy task, but Ross is up to the job. To snatch a phrase from KRS-1, many people know Rick Ross, yet he is known by few. Ross has been waiting his entire life to make Port Of Miami. He has been honing his craft as a behind the scenes man, ghostwriting (our lips our sealed on that one), and generally making himself a staple of the Miami hip-hop scene. But his sound is not one confined to the bounce and bass that made the city famous.
I rep Miami, the 305. But my sound goes beyond the city. You can hear everything from UGK to Jay-Z in my music. It is universal street music. There is no area code on it.
In hip-hop, in 2006, you have to be as big as the culture you represent. You have to be more than music, more than mixtapes, more than a fad. You have to be a movement. Rick Ross, in the tradition of Ice Cube and Jay-Z, is a rebel hustler. He is a renegade who gives you an inside look at how it really goes down in Americas paradise. He gives a voice to those who have none. This summer, you are going to hear him loud and clear. Hop on board, or get out of the way.
