The Wet Spot Episodes - | EPISODE 08.08 - Science & Sexuality (what is known may surprise you) | Join Daisy & Duke as they sit down with Mary Roach, author of Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex.
The study of sexual physiologyâ??what happens, and why, and how to make it happen betterâ??has been going on for centuries, behind the closed doors of laboratories, brothels, Alfred Kinsey's attic, and, more recently, MRI centers, pig farms, and sex-toy R&D labs. I spent two years wheedling and conniving my way behind those doors to bring you the answers to the questions Dr. Ruth never asked. Is your penis three inches longer than you think? Is vaginal orgasm a myth? Can a dead man get an erection? Why doesn't Viagra help womenâ??or, for that matter, pandas?

| EPISODE 08.05 - Sexually Transmitted Diseases | Join Daisy & Duke as they interview Dr. Jeff Klausner about recent developments in our understanding about Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD). There has been some recent news on STDs in the US with highlights from the recent CDC STD Conference in Chicago. Some statistics highlighted included that 1 out of 4 teens will get an STD; syphilis increased for 7th year in a row; and the failure to dequately screen gay men for STDs like gonorrhea or chlamydia of the rectum or throat. Furthermore, about 1 in 5 adults are infected with the virus that causes genital herpes and abstinence-only
education does not work and may actually harm kids who learnd it.
STDs are more common than you know. In the U.S. alone, there are 15 million new cases each year. Talking to your sex partners, even virtually, helps take away the stigma associated with STDs. AND it's scientifically proven to reduce transmission.
Using Klausner's inSPOT website you can send postcards anonymously or from your email address to notify everyone you've had sex with in the past six months. Historically, when you tell a sex partner(s) yourself, it's more likely s.he will "hear" the message and get tested.
Dr. Klausner is joined by the following experts for a panel discussion:
