Skandia Cowes Week Live
|
|
This series of podcasts derive from a three year period of streaming bands and musicians 'live' from the main stage at the Cowes Yacht Haven during Skandia Cowes Week. Every gig has been archived for just this kind of opportunity - podcasting represents the perfect opportunity for replaying some superb musical performances and reliving the atmosphere of probably the most famous regatta in the sailing calendar. Most of the bands are local to the Isle of Wight - but the quality and professionalism of their musicianship is legendary, not only to visitors at Skandia Cowes Week but to the rest of the Island as well.

wight365 media podcasting Episodes - | Jerry Cahill live at wight365 | Something different from our company archives this month.
This performance took place in our studio at wight365 and went live to the internet in May of last year. It is a micro-concert by guitar player / composer Jerry Cahill.
Jerry is a local Isle of Wight musician who now lives in the Exeter area and is well known on the festival circuit. He is a regular performer at Glastonbury. He performs in all musical genres but as a composer and performer of his own work a description of 'ambient-Indo-European-blues from Devon' comes close. | to send to friends | Download Jerry Cahill live at wight365 | Play in Popup.

| The Nick Kane Band - Skandia Cowes Week 2005 | Nick Kane and his band play a mixture of blues, old time R&B and rock classics. Highly regarded by both fellow musicians and audiences around the Isle of Wight it was a pleasure to see them on the main stage of the Cowes Yacht Haven during the recent regatta and this podcast represents an equally pleasant trip down memory lane.
Solid to the core, Nick and his band play the kind of songs that are timeless, and generate an atmosphere that is equally good to dance or drink to. What else do you need for a good night out.
We apologize for the ambient photo - we'll replace it with one of Nick and his band as soon as we can. | to send to friends | Download The Nick Kane Band - Skandia Cowes Week 2005 | Play in Popup.

| Mercury Live at Cowes Yacht Haven | Mercury's first gig was played in humble surroundings at the George and Dragon pub in Derbyshire on 19th February 1999. Tolo Pomar of Romantic Corporation in Spain was in England searching for a Queen Tribute Act to play a summer season in Mallorca -so in stepped Mercury.
Mercury were catapulted into the limelight and won "Best show in Spain Award 1999", returning to Mallorca for two further seasons gaining 100's of loyal fans who now follow them across the UK.
Mercury's performances have been televised live from Holland to Hungary. A New Years Eve concert in Dubai was broadcast live by MTV Asia to millions of homes. But perhaps Mercury's most memorable moment was being invited to perform a live gig for Roger Taylor and his friends.
Today, Mercury are enjoying success worldwide, filling large venues and leaving audiences feeling fully entertained by the kind of show Queen themselves would have been proud to deliver.

| Tin Lids Live at Skandia Cowes Week 2005 | The Isle of Wight has always had a great folk tradition and a definite empathy with the music of Ireland. Perhaps our Island heritage has got something to do with it but it's much more likely to be as a direct result of our 'laid back' way of life, something we feel we have in common with the Irish. This folk based music has always had a major role to play during the Skandia Cowes Week regatta, it's the perfect soundtrack for a hot and lazy August afternoon on Cowes Yacht Haven.
The Tin Lids are one of the most popular of the Irish influenced groups to be heard around the pubs and clubs of the Island. This set was recorded at Skandia Cowes Week 2005.
The band comprises, vocalist and guitar player, Phil Chase, mandolin man, John Newman, and fiddle player, Becky Haydock. You can find out more about the Tin Lids at: www.tinlids.20m.com. | to send to friends | Download Tin Lids Live at Skandia Cowes Week 2005 | Play in Popup.
