Music has always been a tradition in Rumba's family. At the early age of 3, she began singing in church. One of the many people who have influenced Rumba was her father Edwin, a family congero who after he passed away in 92? the young singer found writing music as a way to express her self and cope with her loss. With the help of her grandmother by her side coaching her to practice everyday, not only did it fuel her love of music but helped her take music in another level as a journey to express her very soul & character into every word she sang. Expanding her Horizons at 16 she began to Rap. In 2003-She Premiered on DJ Swave Mix tape, one of Lumidee's very own DJ's. Rumba?s first ever stage appearance took place in The Yonkers Puerto Rican Day Festival. Live On La Mega (97.9FM) she took the crowd by storm when she sang "Herida" a very popular salsa from Brenda K Starr; Tito Rojas a renowned international Salsa star was overwhelmed with her talent that he asked her to take a picture with him. Rumba has performed in many well known night clubs such as Jet-Set Cafe, Victor & Victorias,X-BAR, Rittlers, The Chazz Lounge, & Wild Palm. In 2004 at the Latin Hip-Hop Summon after party at Paradise, Rumba was the only female lyricist who took the stage to freestyle along with Magic Juan, Liqui Loco, Don Crazy G, Baby Psycho of LDA, and Huey Dunbar to name a few. As Rumba continues to get attention her style has defined that of a poet who takes her messages through her songs. This past summer 2006 one of her performances took place at the 116 Puerto Rican Day Festival where it was taped live and aired on Telemundo; channel 47 where she was honored to rap along with the legendary Frankie Cutlass & 5 . In celebration of the great show she got the chance to Rap on his float at the National Puerto Rican Day Parade along 5th Avenue NYC. There in front of thousand she had participation in Sub 0 DVD, Smack DVD & Street Theory Ent. Rumba currently has had the opportunity to expose her songwriting skills in the new genre, Reggaeton where she not only raps but sings making her style complete.
