I was thinking about disease. In general, what is Dis-Ease? How have the old bastions of perceived authority affected our lives? Who is running the machine? Is the perceived authority of the machine causing the disease? Perhaps it's time for a new operating system. We have an infinite number of program choices, and our choices will affect our future and the future of our children. How exactly a new world paradigm, free of disease is to be birthed, depends on women.

This, in my opinion, is religious fanaticism plain and simple. Abortion is a terrible heart wrenching decision, and a completely personal choice. Around the world women are subject to violations of the masculine principle on a regular basis. There are millions of cases each year where women become pregnant without so choosing. This is about a woman's right to self determination. Violence against women, rape and abortion are all integrally related.

This is an assault against women and women's rights. It has been reported that over 300,000 woman have reported being raped last year. Only 39 percent of rapes and sexual assault are reported. Over 32,000 pregnancies result from rape every year, and that's only the ones that are reported. More than half of all rapes occur before the age of 18. In 2004 the CDC reported that 734,965 women were treated and released for acts of violence against women.

South Dakota Govoner Mike Rounds signed into law the bill HB1215 which basically is the prohibition of any acts that would assist a woman in terminating an unwanted pregnancy and bans nearly all abortions in the state. This is an assult against women and women's rights. South Dakota has decided to be the first state in the United States to fight the fight. By enacting this legislation in direct conflict with the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion in 1973. This is about a woman's right to self-determination.

Support Science and the free exchange of information! This year there are 33 Senate seats up for re-election. We need to give them all the boot, and institute some term limits because those entrusted to be our stand-ins are not doing their job. Our top Scientists are being threatened and censored, our liberties are under attack and these 'gentlemen and women' are patting each other on the back while our rights are being taken away.

Predator Drones, Global Hawks, X45A prototype unmanned Remote controlled devices that can take pictures, send them back to Langley Virginia and drop satellite guided bombs on targets. Sometimes we hit specific targets and sometimes there is what the DOD terms as Collateral Damage. That is an antiseptic way of saying we killed innocents. We are sending these drones around the world and really pissing people off. Countries around the world and their people are hating Americans because our administration is behaving really badly with their high tech toys.

Even though we have specific rights detailed by the Fourth Amendment of the Bill of Rights, this Administration thinks it is OK to eavesdrop on the American Public. The balance of power has become creepy and weird. The government has taken the position that with no meaningful judicial review any American citizen alleged to be an Enemy Combatant could be detained indefinitely without charges or council on the government's say so. First Yahoo, then Google and your international phone calls then your email and local phone calls. Where does it end?

Three hundred years ago, the poet Matsuo Basho said Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the men of old, seek what they sought. What did our Founding Fathers seek? Freedom from King George. Sound familiar? In 1776 our Declaration of Independence explained it like this. Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Twenty one million people in the us suffer from an irrational fear of Friday the Thirteenth causing an estimated loss of revenue to business of nearly nine hundred million dollars. It may be more unlucky for women than men.

Doing your 'Personal Best' is so important. I am always amazed by how many people are willing to do an adequate job; not a good job, not a bad job just an adequate job. It is frustrating on a personal level but when I see it happening in our government I really get discouraged. We have entrusted our politicians with great power and great responsibility and in such matters as the confirmation of Judge Alito I expect one hundred and ten percent from our representatives!

We are flying all over the world, the boundaries and boarders of continents and countries and waters and things are so muddy and smudged. People connect from all over the world. Cultures connect from all over the world. It is such a global community now that some of the dogma and the precepts and the customs and things that were so important at a certain time and a certain place are just so irrelevant today. They don't work now and we need to find a new way to understand and relate to one another.

Us vs. Them. racism, in all forms is such an ugly manifestation of fear. I often wonder how it became so ingrained in our societies. We all bleed, we all breath air, we all desire love. All over the world people talk about Us and Them as if somehow we are different. History books would have little to talk about if it were not for one group fighting another for the right to be right I guess. When will we get it that Us is Them, and we are all one.

Wind is readily available, it is blowing around all the time, it does not hurt the environment and it is practically free. It is kind of a no brainer. The biggest problem is what these will do to our beautiful views. I love nature, I love the beach and I honestly think these wind farms are not that bad looking, not nearly as bad looking at the energy rates map...

This country is full of "Pretty Birds", people who have been blessed with money and privilege. How is it that the idealistic baby boomers, the Woodstock Generation who once believed that we could make a difference have turned to lifestyles of vanity, excess and ego feeding? The state sanctioned punishment for misbehavior is too easily violence and death. Do we bring further horror upon our selves by taking a life as punishment? The notorious Stanley Tookie Williams was executed by lethal injection this week. We condemn the public hangings in Riyadh but are we any better? Can taking a life in anger and vengeance alleviate the pain, loss, suffering and anguish of losing a loved one. Is killing a relief of bereavement or does it create more horror. Thou shalt not kill, so many laws are built on the tenants of faith, but how does it work that the punishment for killing is killing? The Religious Freedom Peace Tax Fund has been proposed to allow for those who are conscientiously opposed to participation in war to allow for proper social contribution without supporting the war machine. Our military budget out spends every other country by more than three hundred seventy billion dollars. If we were to apply one third of the military budget to developing energy independence imagine how quickly we can have alternatives that would no longer require us to be in someone else's backyard and someone else's business.

Ethanol Fuel made from corn is a stable reliable proven technology for the production of fuel that can run vehicles that are currently running on our roads. We have the technology, the land, the scientific and engineering know how to make this a reality. It will be good for the environment, create jobs and it will stop our reliance on foreign oil. Forty Percent of the vehicles in Brazil run on ethanol, so what are we waiting for?

The ADF is a huge sponsor of Rush Limbaugh and spends millions to make sure that Liberal viewpoints like that of Ed Schultz are not heard by our troops. Why, and how can the DOD allow this to go on with our tax dollars? Where is the separation of church and state?

Americans last year spent Eight Billion dollars on decorations, yet the faith based organization ADF is worried that Christmas is being discriminated against and people's first amendment rigthts are being squashed. Surely at this time of giving, there are better things to spend time and money on.

Eighty Four percent of those receiving the Anthrax Vaccine have had adverse reactions. The FDA has not approved this as an authorized vaccine, yet we are spending 5.6 billion dollars on it's manufacturer. Military personnel have been refusing to take the vaccine because of the side effects, even at the risk of court martial. What does that say to you?

What are you willing to give up for your freedom? Living in a free society comes with some benefits and some risks. How do you define terrorism, and how does our government define terrorism? Who is keeping track of the secret courts, the wire taps, the background checks, bank and phone survelience. When is safety just too costly? Even in a perfect world you can't protect against everything. The Patriot Act has extended the powers of the Executive and Judicial branches WAY beyond what seems appropriate in the name of safety and our Civil Rights are at risk.

Do you like rollercoasters? 456 feet in the air, 128 miles per hour, the ride lasts only seconds. Life is like a rollercoaster. If you really want to get the fullest experience, when you get to the top you have to let go. You have to put your hands up in the sky and let go and embrace the fear. Riding a rollercoaster is really just symbolic. What I'm really talking about is letting go in life, taking chances. Is the hardest thing letting go or is the hardest thing believing that the fall won't be fatal?

I found this really beautiful big Atlantic Moon Seashell today. What's really interesting is that the inside is even more beautiful and spectacular than the outside. Maybe a lot of things are like that. Inside what we think is reality is a more spectactular and amazing reality just waiting for us to mature the conception of relationships between one other. If we keep working on it, anything can happen. It's a universe of possibility.

Thanksgiving hasn't even come yet, Halloween has just past. It's only the beginning of November and the media marketing machine is already churning. I find the whole gifting thing becomming just nauseating. I say we boycott the gifting, save tons of money on wrapping paper and send it to some really worthy charity.

Fossil fuels, Oil and Natural Gas are the life blood of the US economy. We are being held hostage by big Oil companies, and radical foreign governments. This is a National Security Issue.

They are breaking into shops, burning schools, bus stations and even a police station. Poverty, unemployment and discrimination are at the heart of the matter, the undercurrent is revolution.

Judge Samuel Alito, the most recent nominee to the Supreme Court is another really strange choice. I wonder if The White House has been doing their homework. It has been reported that he refused to recuse himself from two cases in which he had personal, financial conflicts of interest. Does that really show just prudence? Is this really befitting of a Supreme Court Justice?

The concept of Unity is built into our currency. E pluribus unum is written on every dollar, every coin, it is the most common symbol of unity in our daily lives. We are One. The founding fathers got it, they understood, and wrote their version of democracy and social responsibility based on Unity based on the concept of understanding that we are all one people.

There is no number more powerful than One. One person can do so much if you are willing to get a little dirty and work hard. Rosa Parks was a famous One, but we can all do our little bit. Sometimes you might think your efforts are a waste of time but they are not. It may take years to see the the fruits of your labor. Killed In Action over 2000 and counting. The headlines read "Milestone in Iraq, 2000 dead". The numbers are so deceiving. What about the 7800 wounded and sent home or the 8500 wounded and sent back in? We need to support our men and women over there and make sure our government isn't minimizing their loss. This is a gigagantic quagmire, the violence is escalating, what is the exit stragegy?

Harriet Miers withdrew this morning as a nominee for the Supreme Court, and I think that is a very good thing. The fact that she was unwilling to be open and let Americans know who she is and what she is about is not in the best interest of this country. This is a government of the people and by the people, and if you are not willing to tell us who you are you just don't belong in that position.

Rosa Parks is an American Hero. A woman who quietly, peacefully, guided public consciousness towards racial equality. To me she is a courageous and inspirational role model. A woman who refused to be marginalized or acquiesce to demeaning treatment. We as a society have come a long way in 50 years, but we have a long way to go. Like Rosa Parks, the champions of our future will be Women.

When the weather is really lousy you might find yourself, as I did today, looking through stuff. Piles of things you've been meaning to get to but just haven't had the time. Those little pieces of thought, the sketches of dreams, profound thoughts written on a scrap of paper or a poem stuffed into a folder. It's so hard when you come home with a newborn. My first baby was so colicky that she cried for four months straight. I couldn't even imagine a peaceful, happy, contented baby. But one night she stopped crying. She stopped just for a couple of minutes, and I told myself "remember this moment, remember this time" I really locked it in my mind. I hardly remember anything else about her being a newborn but that moment, that sweet moment is mine forever...

Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the poorest places on earth. Twenty thousand people a day die there of thirst and starvation. One amazing woman has identified a real workable sustainable solution. She identified that 80 percent of the farmers in Africa are women, and mobalized them to plant trees. Women are the caretakers and the keepers of the womb of humanity, the womb of humanity is the Earth

Another day and another young mother is found beaten to death, a victim of domestic violence. This 24 year old woman left a toddler and a four month old infant orphaned. Maybe it's time to think about marriage like driving a car. You take a course and a written test so Marriages don't have to crash and burn. Then people might know how to get off the road of marriage with out violence.

People are wigged out. The Mayor gets on TV and says stupid things. How do we deal? We listen to our Pod of course.

It has been reported that the talk around the Pentagon and in the halls of Congress is 'What to do about the Army's low enlistment figures for 2005?'. It seems that this year's recruiting shortfall is in the range of 7,000 to 10,000 soldiers. In response they have resorted to some very unusual and quite frankly stupid measures to fill their ranks with bodies.

Today is Columbus Day. Our Nation's Capital, the District of Columbia, was named for Columbus. Unfortunately, although our children's school books glorify him as the one who discovered America, he was far from a hero. Columbus was actually a creep. A slave trader and murderous conquer. Why would this government honor him with a Federal Holiday? Surely there are many throughout history who deserve this recognition. He is not one of those persons.

27 Year old Malalai Joya was elected to Parliament in Afghanistan. She is an outspoken opponent of the powerful Warlords in that country. As we, the US continue to assist this country to build a democratic government, we have helped them write into their official documentation a requirement that 25 percent of the parliamentary seats will be reserved for women. Why not here in the USA?

Apples have been associated with love, health, and a great deal of mythology over the years. Sir Isaac Newton, Aphrodite, Avalon and Hippocrates all share apple lore. There are over 7500 different varieties and almost as many stories. There's nothing like biting into an apple right off the tree. In honor of Rosh Hashanah my family and I went apple picking.

In an article today a reporter talks to her daughter about the job choices for women. Most woman who choose to work inside the home as a mother give up thier income, their name, and their ability to move about freely. Without an income they are at the mercy of their partner. Women stay in bad situations because they have no choices, powerless without money. Nationwide, worldwide women stay in dangerous situations. 50% of all homeless women and children in the US are there because of violence in the home.

Everyone is creative, whether or not you consider yourself an artist. I think spirituality is a creative force. Some kind of connection that we all make. You don't have to be able to draw or paint or compose music to be an artist. It's this very individual, very personal understanding of the One, the Everything. So many of us over the years have been squashed by a mentor, someone whom we might have looked up to. These hurt our understanding of creativeness, our personal sense of spirit, and contribute to a hurting world.

What exactly does it mean to be spiritual? A lot of people go to church, temple or mosque. Everybody knows what they know, what they know to be their own truth. People trying to make sense of what we're doing here. The unanswerable questions. Do you need to pay homage to some guy that sits on a golden thrown? So many of us are led to believe God to be some angry man. I don't think so

So I finally took the leap, I added Music to my segment. I'm a little unsure about this but sometimes you just have to say "What the Heck!" and go for it. It's hard to put it out there. All of us suffer with the insecurity of trying something completely new. The nerve racking part is having no experience with this. It's not knowing the outcome that gives us butterflies. What I do know is that if I can do it, so can you!

My most precious treasure fits in a milk crate. The pay sucks, the job is grueling so...Why do it? Every waking moment I commit to the angels. The sweet little lives entrusted to my care by the Great Spirit. These are not mine, they belong to the universe, I am mearly their guardian and advocate, managing their care until they come of age. If I do my job the very best I can, my hope is to become obsolete.

Why do they look so bad? I was looking around today, and I asked myself, "Why do these mothers look so bad"? And it occured to me that since society places so little value on what mothers do and, then eventually it's going to seep right into your brain... Some women have been treated with such little value for so long that they don't even value themselves.

"Stay-at-home Moms" are excluded from the process because of a specific limitation. The limitation is our requirement for quality child care. Having a limitation does NOT make a person a sub-standard human being. The country has made specific accomodations for others with limitations, why did they forget us?

Why is it so difficult for Mothers to be part of the political process? Is the Occupation "Mom" discriminated against? Being a "Stay-at-home Mom" is an occupation with specific limitations. The country has made specific accomodations for others with limitations with the American's with Disabilities Act of 1990. Listen to how interestingly this Legistation fits the "Stay-at-home Parent" profession.

The Equal Rights Amendment was introduced in 1923. Eighty two years later it is still not part of the Constitution of the United States. Why? Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article. Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

I pledge allegiance to the flag. Today I read that again someone is sueing in the supreme court about the constitutionality of the Pledge in the public schools. I don't have a problem with the under God part but the part about "to the republic for which it stands", I wonder about that. What exacty does it stand for?

John Roberts is clearly a very learned man but as for Chief Justice of the supreme court, I don't think he has a real grasp on what kind of contribution women make to this society.

Our founding fathers might have been really learned interesting great guys for their time, but in this time the halls of our capital are carved with emptiness for women. Carved in stone are the rights of MEN. There is no mention of Women, no mention of people only Men. All PEOPLE are created equal and all people are entitled to be fairly represented. As we watch the process of the Supreme Court nomination circus we all have to consider these questions.

If one person, just one person has a really big idea, and they tell another person or two people, the ripple is bigger, and soon it washes over what was once ther and creates a new landscape.

Human Value, what does that mean with regard to women in society? In the United State of America we are not represented in our government, and globally we are not represented. Where does this leave our daughters?

Religion and Politics, people say if you want to get along you should never talk about those two things. But I think those are precisely the two things we need to talk about. Something that worked 2000 years ago is just not really relevant or useful today. In this age of internet and access connecting is easy. This is a global community outside of politics and religion. We need to talk about this stuff, dialog ..

Today is the first day of school. This is where they start Powerful thinking in our Public Schools. It's very frustrating to a parent. We spend a lot of money, a lot of time, a lot of effort making sure our part of the process is working. Unfortunately, the system seems to suffer from "it's not my job" syndrome

This situation is desperate. It's been 5 days and 50,000 people are still stranded on rooftops starving. Thousands are dying of thirst in waist deep water. People are literally dying where they sit waiting for this government to help them, but where is our government? These are working people, taxpayers, just like you and me, and they need HELP desperately! Why has it taken this government 5 days to get to Louisiana? We can get aid halfway across the world over-night. We need more than creative thinking on this one, we need ACTION!

Mistakes, we all make them, we hate to admit them, but we all make them. And unless we're willing to make some mistakes, you know, to take some chances and screw up, you just can't do anything great. We all have within ourselves greatness.

I challenge the government of this country to come up with a plan that actually makes some sense. Sometimes I think that countries and governments, in particular, are like a bunch of rowdy kids sitting at your table misbehaving. They're full of egos they're full of attitudes it's bad behavior.

I think the whole search thing is a load of crap. Its someone taking my time to make other people feel warm and fuzzy. Perhaps it does make people feel better but mostly its trying to make the masses feel like something is being done. There is a price we pay for Freedom.

One day, a snowy day I had this revelation of thought, I wasn't paying attention because I had so much on my mind and I crashed into the car in front of me. I get out of the car and I say to this old man "Im so sorry" and this old man says to me "Don't Be in Such A Hurry, I'm Worried About You - Slow Down, Don't Be in Such a Rush!". And the guy says forget it.

We connect in a multitude of ways but connecting as a global people is a lot harder to do. It has to be personal, there has to be some familiarity or it's hard to make the connection. I think that's why some of these major religions are floundering. They don't make it personal because it's very difficult to connect to something that worked 2000 years ago.
