In The Groove, Jazz and Beyond Episodes - | 2nd hour of show | We were out of town for the 4th of July weekend, so it gives me an opportunity to make a podcast of the second hour of the show. For those many listeners of the show that have asked me to podcast the entire show, combine this with the last podcast, and there you have it. There are some great Tenor players represented here, including Eric Alexander, Marcus Strickland, Tim Armacost, Ravi Coltrane, and the master himself, John Coltrane. We also have a beautiful ballad with Miles on muted trumpet.

| Tribute to G.C. | This show is a tribute to George Carlin who passed away on June 22. Carlin was a genius with words and an innovator in the comedy genre. As one who always stood for his convictions, and would seek the 'line drawn' and cross it for the purpose of advancing his art. Sandwiched between some of Carlins most famous bits are some great jazz tunes. What a hip combination; George Carlin and Jazz!Playlists and more music are available at: In The Groove Website. | to send to friends | Download Tribute to G.C. | Play in Popup.

| Primo Piano | Tonight's broadcast features some great new piano jazz. Its not your typical piano set. The sound is new and modern. Other than Chick, you may not have heard these artists before. One of the goals of this show is  to introduce new or little known jazz artists to our listening community. We also pay tribute to Esbjorn Svensson the anchor of E.S.T., who passed away in a tragic scuba diving accident this week.Playlists and more music are available at: In The Groove Website. | to send to friends | Download Primo Piano | Play in Popup.

| A groove for dad | Groove Jazz is what this show is all about, and here is a special groovin' set list dedicated to our Dad's on fathers day. When you talk about Groove Jazz you've got to include the Hammond B3, and we have lots of it in tonight's show.Playlists and more music are available at: In The Groove Website. | to send to friends | Download A groove for dad | Play in Popup.

| New Guitar and Beyond | Some great new releases from guitar bands, both new and old. It's always exciting for me to unwrap new releases from John McLaughlin and Mike Stern. Rich Goldstien is one of Hartford area's best guitarists that can groove in the style of Wes Montgomery. McLaughlin's new CD Floating Point proves that we all can get along when Eastern culture meets the Western fusion for a new creative musical sound. Also threw in Bonerama, a powerful musical force featuring 4 trombones, tuba, guitar and drums with a New Orleans funky sound all their own.Playlists and more music are available at: In The Groove Website. | to send to friends | Download New Guitar and Beyond | Play in Popup.

| Summer Trane | As the first weekend of the unofficial summer season, we just gotta start the show off with Summertime. We will also do a set of Trane tributes, tracks not by the master himself, but other artists inspired to play his works. From there, we'll just go off to do a free form show, tracks that just have a summer feel.Playlists and more music are available at: In The Groove Website. | to send to friends | Download Summer Trane | Play in Popup.

| Kitchen Sink | We are really going to mix it up tonight. Some new fusion from Eldar and a brand new release from John McLaughlin, some jazzy arrangements of originals by Bjork from Travis Sullivan, some latin, hard-bop and more.Playlists and more music are available at: In The Groove Website. | to send to friends | Download Kitchen Sink | Play in Popup.

| Jazz-Latin | Maybe I should be calling this show Latin-Jazz, but to me this is Jazz, performed by musicians surrounded by Latin culture and influences. I am not an expert in latin music by any means. In the 70's, Carlos Santana introduced the Latin sound to rock fans. Gato Barbieri was fusing jazz music with his Argentinan latin roots. More recently Jerry Gonzalez and the Fort Apache band began playing jazz standards and originals with distinct latin arrangements. New artists like Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Insight led by Zaccai and Luques Curtis are continuing that trend.Playlists and more music are available at: In The Groove Website. | to send to friends | Download Jazz-Latin | Play in Popup.
