Those players who play for major college programs get much more national attention than players from the NAIA, a small college division.Last season, the Cleveland Indians drafted NAIA All-American Beau Mills in the first round.Also on last year's NAIA All-America 1st Team was right-handed pitcher Jesse Bachman (12-1). Bachman's Spring Arbor University team was the 2007 NAIA World Series runner-up, losing to Lewis-Clark State which featured Beau Mills.After leading the state of Indiana in ERA (0.20) his senior year in high school, Bachman was voted MCC conference Player of the Year in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. He was named National Player of the Year for the NCCAA in 2007. Bachman also lead the MCC in hitting with a .399 regular season average.Bachman was named to the 2008 pre-season All-America NAIA 1st Team and has continued to have an excellent 2008 season.Bachman was recently named to the 2008 NAIA World Series All-Tournament Team as a 2nd baseman. He hit .523 and displayed stellar defense.Bachman is currently a two way player who also plays second base and is currently hitting .366 and has 11 stolen bases. He has excellent speed on the bases. His hitting and base running abilities would especially be an asset if he is signed by a National League team.As a pitcher he exhibits excellent control walking very few hitters (In NAIA he currently ranks 3rd in the nation in fewest walks per 9 innings - 0.91) and has a good pitch selection including a very effective change-up.The video below is a sample of his pitching, fielding his pitching position, hitting and base running.
