| Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook, Mandeep Dhillon Mon. Jun 2, 2008 | Some countries, those artifices made of lines drawn on maps of areas on this planet that spins around a yellow star, located in a small system, nestled on the edge of a spindly arm of the Milky Way, were created in large part by drunken pirates, thieves and murderers, whose successors now declare:
* "For some, existence is, in itself, in this place, a crime."
These sons and daughters of buccanneers take it upon themselves to punish for the sin of living here those people they declare to be "illegal" with imprisonment in cages and concrete caves; to be watched over and hectored by sadists, and psychopaths; brutalized for the crime of simply being.
That these latter day pirates are racists is not necessarily their only motivation: Declaring some humans lesser than others is an ancient and effective method to make easier for the master's conscience the forced extraction of the lives and labours of the slave class.
But, resistance to the slave masters is as ancient as this systemic barbarity, and today in slave nation Canada, resistance is growing.
No One is Illegal is an organization addressing the atrocities visited upon human dignity commited by the inheritors of the pirates who stole and named this land, and yesterday they and their supporters rallied in the cities and towns across the country so-named to declare their opposition to the furtherence of legislation drawn against the natural law of humanity in the form of bill C-50.
Mandeep Dhillon is a member of No One Is Illegal, herself a legally recognized Canadian human being who stands opposed to C-50, and he'll be here to tell us why. Mandeep Dhillon and scrapping C-Five-0 in the second half.
And; Janine Bandcroft will join us at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with all that's good to do in and around Victoria in the coming week.

| Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook, Mordecai Briemberg Apr. 14, 2008 | Last summer media activists in Vancouver ran a mock version of CanWest Global organ, The Vancouver Sun. The phony front page was secreted into legitimate mail boxes around the city, and slipped into newstands stacks and onto public meeting info. tables. It's the second hijacking of the Sun's masthead, a previous crew pulling off the stunt in 2002 without consequence, but this time around CanWest is determined to see this matter in court.
The national media Goliath filed suits against a group it believes responsible for the faux edition, (and for good measure, they filed too against the small printing house allegedly used to run off the offending copies).
Chiefly named is long-time Vancouver peace and justice activist, radio producer, author, and critic of Israeli policy in Palestine and the Middle East, Mordecai Briemberg.
Mordecai Briemberg and getting serious about free speech in Canada in the second half.
And; Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with all that's good to do in and around Victoria in the coming week. But first, Howard Zinn and what the classroom fails to teach you about American Empire.

| Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook, Howard Zinn Apr. 14, 2008 | History is ended the orators for America's new century extolled upon George W. Bush's assumption of the throne in January 2001. In some ways the notion has proved correct; history will of course continue 'til comeuppance day, but the nature of the nation is changed. Today, America represents not a bastion of individual freedoms and expression, the protector and purveyor of Democracy, but a rapacious agent of corporate greed and criminality around the planet, a law unto itself: An empire.
Howard Zinn is an American historian, educator, playwright, activist and author. Among his more than twenty books published are: 'Artists in Times of War,' 'The Cold War and the University,' 'Declarations of Indepedence,' 'Disobedience and Democracy,' the best-selling 'A People's History of the United States,' and his autobiography, 'You Can't be Neutral on a Moving Train,' (also adapted as a documentary film).
Zinn is the recipient of numerous awards, citations, and accolades for his decades-long dedication to the People's cause, including: the Courage of Conscience Award, the Thomas Merton, Eugene Debs, and Upton Sinclair Awards, the American Historical Association's Beveridge Prize for best English-language book on American History for his debut title, 'La Guardia in Congress,' and the Haven's Center Award for Lifetime Contribution to Critical Scholarship. His theatrical works include: 'Daughter of Venus,' 'Emma,' and 'Marx in Soho.'
Howard Zinn's newest book release is, 'A People's History of American Empire.' Howard Zinn in the first half.
