They also find out just what the hell Justin does for the software giant to the north, whether Gerstman has lost his mind, and how badass Aliens vs. Predator really was (the game, not the movie). | 10thMusePodcastEpisode #38 090908 | 10th Muse is going to take a bit of a break this week because we have a special surprise. We recently were able to visit a local radio station and dig around in some old recordings they have. What shocked us was we found a show called "The 10th Muse Radio Program" from the 80's! It's totally bizarre but we decided to find their episode from September 9th, 1986 and put it up for everyone to hear. So, this week on 10th Muse we have a blast from the past with topics like "Arcades vs. Home Consoles", "8 Bits of Piet Mondrian", and "Miami Vice: The Game". It makes you wonder what could have been. So enjoy this trip to yesteryear from the 10th Muse Radio Program brought to you by the 10th Muse Podcast... | 10thMusePodcastEpisode #34 080508 | The Terrible Trio summon Laura Henry back from the depths of hell to wreak havoc on the world in the form of The Game Design Jam! After pulling three randomly selected games from a huge database they try to cobble them together into a single game. It's their first ever attempt as a group and makes for a couple good ideas, a pile of bad ones, and enough chaos to choke some sort of norse god. That's only after blasting through why Wii games have such terrible review scores, how cool putting a lot of stuff onto a round piece of plastic is, EA's claims to not suck anymore, and whether or not we are oblivious to deeper messages in games. | Get at Short URL | Download 10thMusePodcastEpisode #34 080508 | Play in Popup.

| 10thMusePodcastEpisode #33 072908 | Special guest Jeff Constantine sits down with us to talk about the game franchises that each of us can't seem to let go, not to mention the troubling prospect that perhaps, just maybe, some of us are tired of saving the world over and over. After a short break, we get deeply cerebral as we tackle the overwhelming game industry trend of user generated content, examining what that actually means and where we surmise it will lead us. | Get at Short URL | Download 10thMusePodcastEpisode #33 072908 | Play in Popup.

| 10thMusePodcastEpisode #31 071508 | On today's episode, Stephan and Mike hold down the fort alone, first sparring each other in a flurry of debate about the Final Fantasy series and its impact (or lack thereof) on the mass market, examining it from the perspective of people outside the hardcore. Then, with E3 on everyone's brain, things really explode in the roundtable as they both surgically dissect many of E3's games as either 'Gimmick', 'Innovation', or 'Same-old, Same-old', drawing from past conversations on the 10th Muse to measure how accurate they've been on tracking industry trends. | Get at Short URL | Download 10thMusePodcastEpisode #31 071508 | Play in Popup.

| 10thMusePodcastEpisode #30 070808 | We dissect the anatomy of the video game with our guest former rock star and ninja audio director Kurt Larson. Our surgery begins with a thought provoking What's On Your Mind segment discussing everything from story-driven games (Kurt hates them) to the casual demographic (Kurt hates them too). Our roundtable discussion digs deep into game theory, pulling apart the age old question of whether art and business must go hand in hand in the game industry, and what that means for the future. | Get at Short URL | Download 10thMusePodcastEpisode #30 070808 | Play in Popup.

| 10thMusePodcastEpisode #29 070108 | The hosting trio is joined by new guest character 3D modeler Tyler Fermelis, who is welcomed by immediately having his last name brutalized twelve ways past Tuesday(for the record, it's pronounced 'Fer-MA-lees', and roll the 'r' if you're cool). In our 'What's On Your Mind' segment we focus on the widening gap between those that do the work and those that get paid for it in the game industry and whether your talent gets worse as you get older (think George Lucas). Finally, we hit our Roundtable Discussion topic where we analyze Brands (i.e., Call of Duty) versus Icons (i.e., Mario), and we get Tyler's very interesting answers to the Muse questions. | Get at Short URL | Download 10thMusePodcastEpisode #29 070108 | Play in Popup.

| 10thMusePodcastEpisode #28 062408 | We're joined today by Laura Henry of Double Fine ('Brutal Legend', http://sureaboutthat.blogspot.com), and we learn that the stark similarity between her last name and Mike's is because they're, um, married. In our 'What's On Your Mind' segment we launch the a long-awaited afterparty on Resident Evil 5, discuss why people think it's weird that girls do love games, and uninformed politicians making even more dumb choices. In our roundtable we dig into reviewers and how the way we review games may well affect the course of the game industry for all time. | Get at Short URL | Download 10thMusePodcastEpisode #28 062408 | Play in Popup.

| 10thMusePodcastEpisode #26 060608 | Kick off your shoes and join us for a special (and by special we mean totally explosive) episode. Patrick Lister is absent, leaving behind Mike Henry and Stephan Sherman (joined by Will Wurth, 3D artist) to man the fort. Zombies are outside the room trying to break in (listen and you'll see what we mean), and all three lose their mind (mostly just Stephan) talking about social issues in Resident Evil 5. Round table discussion focuses on Pet Peeves and Wishlists for the game industry. | Get at Short URL | Download 10thMusePodcastEpisode #26 060608 | Play in Popup.

| 10thMusePodcastEpisode #25 052708 | This time around Patrick, Stephan, and Mike are joined by John Pearl, lead environment artist at Vigil ('Darksiders'). Today's roundtable discussion topic debates if a game world is the most important character in the game--even more important than the player's main character (a discussion sprinkled with steady hollaring and swearing). We also touch on the growing difficulty for up-and-coming developers to break into the game industry, even as the industry itself is growing. | Get at Short URL | Download 10thMusePodcastEpisode #25 052708 | Play in Popup.
