Shugborough Hall in Staffordshire in the heart of the English countryside is the ancestral seat of the Earls of Lichfield - and was the home of the photographer the late Lord Lichfield, the Queen's Cousin. It is run by the National Trust and each August it opens it gates to another English tradition - a 'last night of the proms' classical music extravaganza with a flypast by a World War 2 Spitfire and a spectacular fireworks finale. Jane Markham goes behind the scenes at Shugborough to find out how it ticks in the run up to this year's event plus a competition to win tickets and a champagne picnic. |
