Every week on BACK CHANNELS, will bring stories from the cracked mirror of television, where reality and fiction duke it out for your viewing pleasure on a cable dial so large you'd need the rest of your life to watch a week's worth. We'll peer behind the screen, where talking heads and network bigwigs live, love and dream up desperate new ways to keep your attention. TV remains the most powerful communications medium we have, but it's one that's changing rapidly. We'll gauge its power at every turn, observing how a single TV event - a scream, a nipple, Martha Stewart - can suck the
e n t i re media into its maw and alter cultural perceptions. This year, we'll pay close attention to how network and cable news cover the
2004 presidential race, as President George W. Bush and Senator John Kerry arm-wrestle over the divisive issues of the moment - issues invariably framed by TV executives, producers, and of course anchors, those wellgroomed and highly-respected information arbiters with the
uncanny ability to tell it like it is using nothing more than a teleprompter. |

There are a significant number of cartoons from the 30s and 40s that are no longer protected by copyright, allowing for their free distribution. Vintage ToonCast looks to provide these short cartoons to video iPoders via iTunes. A new cartoon will be released each week. Many of these cartoons come from an era before political correctness and may be considered offensive and inappropriate for children by today's standards. Additionally, handpicked short films from sponsors will be released on a monthly basis. These films may contain adult language or situations, resulting in the "explicit" label. |

Podcast programming produced by Vodka Tonic Radio, in association with Vodka Tonic Media. All music played is independent and podsafe. Vodka Tonic Media is a new record label specializing in punk, new wave, and garage rock with a heavy emphasis on 21st century radio promotion. Although none of the bands heard on our podcast are signed to Vodka Tonic, we use podcasting as a means to promote artists while branding our label (much in the same fasion some indie labels put out compilation CDs before releasing their first official record) |

EatIngredients.com is the result of over five years of documenting my anecdotal cooking (via my poetry and foodstuff listings). The inspiration for this project came from the attempt to decompress from a nebulous schedule as paced by maintaining a new media lifestyle within the Information Society. Taking the time to actually prepare a meal, list the ingredients, and write poetry has been a good experiential and conceptual counterbalance between 20th Century utility and 21st Century gadgetry. |
